The Old Testament account of the Israelites' liberation from the "slave house" of Egypt, their flight over Mount Sinai and through the desert to the Jordan River, and their conquest of the land of Canaan are questioned by many ancient historians. What happened in the battle of Jericho?
Neither has archaeology been able to discover reliable traces of the immigration of a large group into Palestine nor evidence of a military conquest on a grand scale. Ist Jericho a mystery?
Now archaeologists have found traces that could prove the Old Testament account.

I think it was sound and/or a frequency that brought down the walls. There was something going on back then that is kept from our knowledge.

I almost changed the channel when hearing that the Bible was off by 150 years, proven by analysis and comparison by a supposed "expert"; for me, I'll trust in my thrice Holy and Most High God, who is perfect and cannot lie over a possible agent of evil who might have had some agenda in her "analysis" but as I age, I'm learning to be more patient and thorough in my understanding of things rather than shooting my mouth off.

its crazy to think how God command joshua to leave the grain behind and probably joshua at that time was questioning why to waste it, and now joshua knows why God wants the grain there, for proof. amazing God.
Carbon dating of recently killed animals has resulted in them being dated as old as dinosaurs and tests with switched old/new material showed that carbon dating is highly unpredictable. Some just don't want to hear that the Bible is right as it does not fit their narrative that God is what the Bible says He is. I applaud dr. Wood for his persistence. Great documentary.

"science" (falsely so-called)) gives us tripe like Living things come from non-living matter (i.e. rocks are our creator god). The state of things is far worse than that. Some Bible hating archeologists know they're looking in the wrong strata claim the Biblical records are wrong knowing that they are not. Kenyon has been actively using her position to refute the Bible instead of doing pure archaeological research.

The bible contradicts itself and thus not all should be taken literally like u protestants do.
It should be pointed out that there were 12 spies who were sent into Canaan to recon the area. Only two of those spies came back with a good report - Joshua and Caleb. All the rest were convinced that God could not take that land from the inhabitants. The Israelites heeded the majority and poo-pooed Joshua and Caleb. God uttered those immortal words, "And so I swear in my wrath, they shall never enter into my rest."
This event was so significant that the writer(s) of the Book of Hebrews included it as a caution to all who think that God can't save them and give them rest. We have preachers who stand up in front of their congregations on the Lord's Day and proudly proclaim, "I am a sinner". Can you save a person who can't believe he is saved?
The gospel says that we WERE sinners but now we are saved from that. Everybody wants to be saved IN their sins but Jesus is called Jesus, why?
"And thou shalt call His name Jesus for He shall save His people FROM their sins."
Is your preacher saved even those he counts himself a sinner? Then he is, by definition, saved in his sins. Does the bible support that theology? I've read it backwards and forwards and I cannot find support for that doctrine anywhere. If you want salvation FROM your sins then you'll hitch yourself to the REAL Jesus of Nazareth and not the fake one they tell you about. This thing goes to those who are seeking and not simply someone who is jumping onto some bandwagon. See and ye shall find.
The twelve spies were first sent by Moses to recon the land of Canaan, the two spies were sent by Joshua to recon the city of Jericho. God had to destroy the city to show the Israelis that He is with them in the conquest of Canaan. This is in fulfillment of Noah's curse to Ham.
They throw around thes "ages" as if they are really a thing. They're not. The 4th chapter of Genesis talks about the father of ironworkers.
Gen. 4:22 - And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
So, from the beginning, we've had people working all kinds of metals and it wasn't a thick black line through the ages, as we're led to believe. Did they have iron tools in the Bronze Age? Probably.
Considering that in those time period,mankind have a direct access with the literal "alien technology " I too believe they are much more advanced than us today.

When was the Book of Joshua written down? The expression "to this day" or "unto this day" is used in the bible, which hints when the narrative was written.
Joshua 6:25 - And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
So Rahab was still alive and living in Israel when these words were written down and the battle was over. Israel was settled as a nation.

It's very interesting, but I'd like to see further carbon dating, as well as dating on the fire line. From what I understand, Jericho rose and fell more than once. Are there signs of any battles, such as arrow/spear heads? Other organic remains? And, what about all the other cities, whose falls are credited to Joshua? Do their dates align with Biblical accounts? I'm not an archaeologist or a theologian, but I'd be very curious to know more about this.

He's a terrible archeologist. One perfectly timed earthquake blocked the river. Then a second perfectly timed earthquake, days later, knocked the walls except for the one with a tiny bit of rope on it? And then just dismisses the carbon dating? Who gave this guy a doctorate???

Garstang dated the pottery around 1400s.

Google Dr. Manfred Bietak (I think he’s not a bible believer) who is a famous Archaeologist and led the digs in Avaris Egypt for years. He wrote a paper on the topic (carbon dating).
And where are the skeletons of the inhabitants, surely with that much death there must be some evidence of skeletons .

We tried to use logic and other scientific explanations when we come across events mentioned in the Bible. We always over look the supernatural because we do not believe that such events occur in the human history. Natural disaster happen every time and supernatural events do happen but people in authority always hide and suppress all evidences regarding these events because they do not want ordinary people to know that there is another force in play in the universe. The Bible believers throughout human history believed in the supernatural which they attribute to their God. It is people who do not believe always look for other explanations. Parting of Redsea, Crossing of the river Jordan, destruction of city of Jericho or destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah are some of the events recorded in the Bible which are caused by God's Hand. The world is over populated and each race had it's own religion and world view and people try to explain events by logic and scientifically and when they could not they cover it up as national Security or something.

Dan brown did his homework, as one does. the history doesn't give validity to a story, only context . firstly, religion is about faith, not facts. secondly, to find an actual location doesn't guarantee an artifact, nor do genuine historical references guarantee fact . as a non believer myself, I find spiritual archeology especially interesting not bc of any proof it may or may not give but for context on how those ppl were actually living when they created this. if you already genuinely believe that ppl walking & blowing horns brought those walls down then you don't need this as one has nothing to do with the other
Divinci code was written as fictional story and Brown had no proof what so ever of his claims in his book n the movies made from them. That has been proven by many believer n non believer scholars that is factual

Kathleen Kenyon worked for the Jordanian Govt in the 1950s and early 60s. She had an Israel hating reason to dispute the origin stories of Ancient Israel.

John Garstang, nearing the end of his career, worked at Jericho in the early 1930s when the British Mandate was in charge of what the League of Nations called Palestine. He had much less of a reason to twist his data and hide his results from examining the pottery.
