KTM electric start fix (torque limiter)

- My electric start would crank over sometimes and others it sounded like it was spinning in place. We checked the cams auto decomp, upgraded the battery, upgraded the stator, tried a new starter (did the same thing). Finally we check the torque limiter and this was our culprit.
This is the forum that helped me fix this issue

Good work. I’ve been having the same problem on my 2010 530 After changing the freewheel clutch it was no better. I so should have watched your video before hand. Thanks
Thank you !
8.8 is the grade of the bolt not the torque spec.
Came here to say the same!
I live I AZ! How can I get a hold of Leroy for this fix I need on my 08 KTM 530 EXC-R?
This is Leroy’s Instagram, send him a DM and he’ll help you out, tell him Max sent you. instagram.com/dirtfox.mechanic?
Go to 3:40 to skip the small talk 😅🤙🏽
Hey man what was the starter doing before fixing the torque limitor got a temperamental husky lol
@@OversizedEnduroGuy it would turn over the motor but not fast enough because it was slipping. If you kick start your bike and it turns on fine that narrows it down a little. What are the symptoms of your bike?
@@HyLifeSociety @Hylife society
Starter wont turn over unless idol is set really low
Currently have it set at 1350rpm and starts fairly easily but if a crank it back up to factory spec starter does about have a rotion and cuts out.
Have a new starter motor and new relay ect has me stumped lol
Its a 14 husky fc350
@@OversizedEnduroGuy What year is your Husky?
@@HyLifeSociety its a 2014
starter motor is on the stator side so taking the torque limiter off takes 5 mins thankfully
So how did u know it was the torque limiter?
You can kick start it on just fine, but with the electric starter you can tell the starter wasn’t spinning the engine fast enough to start. The torque limiter was slipping under load.
My 2011 KTM 450 would stop at TDC and then have to hit the start button again but still wouldn't start
That still an issue or you fixed it?
@@HyLifeSociety I found the problem and it was my decompressor wasn't working
@@HyLifeSociety I fixed it.. it was a bad exhaust camshaft lever
