I’ve owned a Snap Studio for several years. I was never really that impressed with it until a friend told me to order an extra set of blankets. Now there’s about an inch of padding. HUGE difference!
I really like this studio Earl. Not only that, I like your presentation of it. Can't tell you enough how frustrating it can be to want to record (in our shared walk-in closet) late at night, but can't because my wife is sleeping. Looking forward to having that additional recording space! Great job! I'm excited with you!
Do you know if this has any noticeable impact in the amount of sound that makes its way OUT of the booth? My apartment has some pretty thin walls, and I'm not necessarily yelling in any of my videos, but it would be nice to know that my upstairs neighbors don't have to hear me record the same line 6 times in a row.
I actually don’t have an idea about that as I don’t have that same issue as you. However if you get it ask your neighbors if it is working for them or not. You can always return it if it does not fit your specific use case. Let me know how it goes
@@EarlHallStudio Good to know. I figure it's a good enough investment on its own as is, I'll probably pick one up once I get my first UA-cam payout. I figure if it ends up not blocking enough outward noise, I can double up on the moving blankets around it. I'll make sure to come back to this video once I actually have one setup.
Looks like you got the XL version? How easy is it for others to hear you from another room when you're in the booth? My biggest issue is that I don't like singing when I'm monitoring music in my headphones yet people in the house just hear me singing acapella as I try out ideas. Really throws me off. Thanks. Good vid! You were sweating quite a bit there!
Wow! Your new sound studio has everything you need, and it's portable! The sound generated transports you to your own VO world, great presentation Earl.🎙
Thank you for making a review about this! I didn't know whether or not to fork over the dough needed. I appreciate this so much! Time to start saving up, and you've earned yourself a subscriber!

Nice review. Any idea how much sound it keeps from getting into the booth? I have a shared wall with a neighbor who talks loud and plays loud bass heavy music.
Hi, does the noise from the inside gets reduced to the outside or heard less? Im planning to buy it just to decrease the noise of the instrument im playing as i have neighbors close to my apartment.
Very nice review. I've been told that I should do voice over work, and I just bought the snap booth. I will be looking for your book as well. Thank you
Hello, thank you for the video! I just have a question, how much space would you say there is in there? Would there be enough for a mini table for a laptop or a chair to sit down while recording? (I know there's a XL version, maybe that would be better?
Definitely an interesting set up. I think I might pass out though as I sweat profusely just walking to the mailbox on a 75 degree day. I have always been a heavy sweater! LOL! Just curious Earl as to why you didn't use your favorite mic (Synco D2) in the demo that you previously proclaimed as your new go-to mic for all voice over work? Is it because you had it already setup in its current spot?
Yes. Definitely a lot of sweating LOL. I put the MKH-416 in the booth because it is the best mic I own. The Synco has been my got mic for a while but with this new set up I simply wanted to use my best as we all should 😊
@@EarlHallStudio Fair enough Earl! Sorry if I came across as snarky...It's often so hard to try and follow many of the professional VO guys on UA-cam these days when as a new guy trying to sort things out I'm trying to take advice and absorb as much as I can but seeing these mic reviews just pouring in from SO MANY point of views and changing with the next new mic can be so frustrating. What I HAVE learned though and what I have decided to do is to find a guy that has a voice similar to mine, see what they use, how they use it, why they use it and how it translates and aligns with my current budget and needs. I settled on you Earl as I think you are not only a top notch voice talent, but also a guy that is down to earth, approachable and honest! You don't brag, you don't talk down to people that potentially are trying to figure things out and you seemingly LOVE to share your knowledge! I own just two mics,...(don't laugh) My workhorse that I have used for my own little podcast show for a while,..the Blue Yeti...and I have received so many compliments on how I sound on it...which honestly makes me chuckle....AND now my recent acquisition acquired from a dude who sold it to me really cheap and that is an EV RE20. I will be also using that this summer for the podcast. I'm still playing with some settings in Audacity to get it how I like it and I'm close! It seems to be a solid mic. So basically I just do what I can afford to do and might even one day try and pursue VO work. I have a voice that is somewhat bassy and I keep thinking there is a mic out there that will embrace that sound WITHOUT a ton of Post processing involved since that is NOT where I like to spend my time. The search will likely continue unless I can find a way to make the RE20 work. I just wish there was a mic that worked great for my voice out of the box OR with MINIMAL processing in post. Plus,...Audacity can be a bit weird for me to work in at times. For now I have a simple Scarlett Solo and Cloud lifter that the RE20 feeds into and I have a few settings in Audacity that I use after I record my interviews with the mic. There are several settings and again the result is about 90% there. Sorry I rambled on here. Thanks for being you! I really enjoy your content and reviews! Oh and the fact that you were sweating after that booth set up only reassured me that I'm following the right guy! I was laughing WITH you since I too would have been dripping like a faucet! Kindred spirits!
I sweat profusely as well. I'll have to find a way to stay cool in this booth. I'll be posting a picture this weekend of my wife and myself with the booth.
@@anthonyvivianlanius1295 Anthony, please do! I would love to see how you both manage it as my issue down here in the armpit of the south is ALWAYS how I can stay cool in the summer months during a one hour interview in a confined space on a third floor attic studio. My strategy is to drop the temp with my A/C that I have up there to REALLY CHILLED.....then cut it off one minute or so before the podcast interview. Needless to say....between my natural hot blooded nature and my nerves,..I'm still soaked with sweat by the 30 minute mark. LUCKILY these are audio only interviews! I cannot imagine what I would look like in that snap sauna booth. LOL! Keep me posted please! My RE20 is a fabulous mic though and does really well in keeping outside noise out so I wonder if I could create some kind of hose that pulls in the A/C air and funnels it up from the bottom of the snap studio>>>>hmmmmm.
Hello Sir sorry another question, is this vocal booth able to achieve less then -50 DBS for the Noise Floor? This is probably the most important factor for me getting it as I want it to sound close to professional as possible

Where do you buy the extra set of blankets?
@@thatboysus1648probably just off Amazon or their website, I imagine.

Wow thats sounds cool sir
Thanks for the video sir. Does dynamic shure smb7 better than NT1 for voice over and UA-cam video?
Great vidéo. IS the Snap studio well isolated from outside sound ?
Yes if it is in a quiet location. It is not sound proof
I really love this! I'll be buying one in the next couple of weeks. :) Thanks, Earl.

How quiet, in decibels, of a recording are you able to achieve in their?
My space will be different from yours depending on the noise out side. In my space where I have my booth the decibel level is only -58. SUPER QUIT!
In your opinion, could you use this in a condo to practice French horn and not disturb the neighbours ?
Thx
No. This will not work for that
I had a audio blanket tent much like this. It’s too muddy in small spaces, no matter what
I’m sure yours was. Sorry about that. You should try the Snap Studio
Cool you can use it as a sauna as well
Hello Sir sorry another question, is this vocal booth able to achieve less then -50 DBS for the Noise Floor? This is probably the most important factor for me getting it as I want it to sound close to professional as possible
It fully depends on the environment you put it in. I have that exact noise floor 😊

How loud can people hear you from outside the booth? I am sorry I am new to this.
Not quite sure how to answer but yes people can hear you outside of the booth
Buy a indoor grow tent and pad it out to save money
Always remember. It's a lot cheaper to build one of these on your own with some PVC and moving blankets for nearly half the cost.
exactly what i was thinking
What about air quality?.
How are you able to breath, can you stay in the booth at least an hour and not pass out/faint?.
Thanks 4 the demo, nice.
I have not noticed an issue 😊
