Excellent episode once again Brett. Love going back & watching your episodes! I was a big fan of Malik Hooker as an NFL prospect. As an Ohio State fan I definitely got a chance to see how dominate he was on a weekly basis. He Conley, & Lattimore is were DEADLY at OSU together. Unfortunately we had one of the worst offenses of the Urban Meyer era & couldn’t score vs Clemson. Also crazy to think that Joe Burrow & Dwayne Haskins were on the bench & JT Barrett was the starter 😐. But it was still fun to watch those guys ball each week! Don’t think Hooker has quite lived up to his potential but he is still a very productive & even underrated player honestly. Love your videos!
Great analysis as per usual! I can definitely see teams taking Hooker above Adams simply due to that range and the possibility he could be the next Earl Thomas. Jamal Adams is probably the cleaner pick, but like you said, cover 3 lives and dies by its free safety and I'm wondering if teams will value Hooker's potential more than Adams' consistency.
I stand by that Malik Hooker is the best player in this draft. Dude is such a smooth athlete. He covers a lot of ground quickly and he has the ability to not only high point a ball with the best of them, but also make the tough interception. Best safety prospect I can remember coming out in a long time. He can scare QBs from deep balls in the NFL.
Malik Hooker is the Free Safety, the Strong safety is Clayton Geathers, the Saftey is Darius Butler, the Corner on the left is Vontae Davis and the Corner on the right is Quincy Wilson. That's a lit secondary.
Merrick Cassian I disagree I see people do it a lot for example Voch Lombardi does it. But I can also understand the time and effort it takes to produce a good video and that some people can't sit at home and make videos 24/7 so I'll take what I can get but all in all I'm just saying he makes really good film sessions and I wish they came more than once a week
I don't doubt that they do take longer but I still believe that it ISN'T impossible to make more than one a week but I do understand that he doesn't have the time to sit in the house and do nothing but make these videos my selfish side just wants it to be more videos more frequently lol
I'm going to support your Patreon page! This scouting report validated what I thought of him. I understood he was an amazing ball hawk but I personally didn't think of him to be a complete safety as of yet.
this is only the second video of yours that I've watched and I have to say I'm impressed! I love how much you go into detail with these players! especially the Safeties! (I'm still in Highschool and Free safety is my position) but the depth you go into makes me understand how to get better, even though I am a starter. love he videos man, keep it up!
Scott Nichols he's a Ed reed at the u clone and it's crazy bc he might have more raw talent seeing he's only played ball since he was a junior in high school
I was thinking 49ers once you mentioned Pete Carroll drafting Thomas in the 1st round in his 1st draft as coach. Not only is Lynch the new GM but they are switching to a 4-3 Under just like Seattle runs. +1 sub; just watched 3 of your videos, pretty informative.
As an Ohio State fan it’s so painful to see how talented that defense was yet how unprepared the offense was. That secondary as well as Alabama’s (another historically great secondary and defense) couldn’t shut down that Clemson offense.
I think his amazing ability plus inexperience are the cause for the bad angles. It's that irrational confidence that make the greats great. Hopefully he'll improve with time.
Does anyone remember which play it was where Hooker came from one hash and made a play on the ball on the opposite boundary? I’m looking to write a recap of his 2017 season, and I want to use that play as an example of his range coming into the NFL. I thought I remember seeing it in the this breakdown, but it might’ve been in a different one. It’s also possible I’m imagining things, but it definitely seems like a play he would make!
Just realized that people should really take Ohio States backup DB’s. Because I just realized that last year Denzel Ward was a backup CB, then this year he is the 4th pick. That’s not his fault that he wasn’t starting, they also had Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley who were 2 of the best corners last draft.
Your pretty much on point about the single high safetys value and role in NFL especially with range but range in that position is not pure speed based its largely instincts with decent speed doesn't have to be crazy even a 4.5 runner like Harrison Smith is enough when combined with instincts and reaction/recognition and awareness. Then the other must have which is why earl Thomas was perfect in Seattle is tackling ability in the open field coming up in to the lane from the deep alignment.
I'm a Jets fan, and while I get the BPA mantra in taking Jamal Adams, I would have gladly traded down to 12-15 and taken Malik Hooker instead. More picks = more players and we need a lot more than Jamal Adams.
Ain't it difficult to run that style Defense with injuries nowadays? Rarely a team has 2 same guys so what skill set does the backup MUST HAVE in order to continue running that style?
If he couldn't hold up at CB without all the injuries he got, how would he hold up at FS when he'll have to help out even more against the run and not just help stop the run on one side of the field.
Reformed1 whats closer to the line of scrimmage the cb or fs??? fs job is not let any 1 get behind idk how u figure he be more involved in the running game
You're talking about pass plays. I'm talking about the abuse these guys take on RUNNING plays. Watch the video above and see how the CB's are only the 1st to the ball when the ball carrier is running to their side of field but the safety are 1st few players to the ball every damn time. They never get a break on running plays. Don't lose sight on my original point. Jimmy ward is too small and average to play safety. PERIOD
+Brett Kollmann If the Chargers draft Hooker, do you think they have the rest of the personnel to successfully run Cover 3? We've struggled against by shifty receiving RBs in recent years which worries me, however, the addition of speedy LB Jatavis Brown has helped us a lot in that area . Our CB's are great, however, they are on the shorter side (we all know Gus prefers tall, lanky CB's, though I'm still not exactly sure why). Admittedly, most of what I know about this scheme is from your video so I'd love to hear your take. Thanks and keep of the great vids.
That depends on how confident they are in Verrett and Hayward. They don't really fit the profile of a C3 CB at all as far as press/press-bail ability goes, but who knows...maybe they alter their scheme a bit to fit the personnel that is already there.
Robert Clanton Yeah I wanna see a vid on him and Mike Williams both. I have the 3rd rookie pick in a dynasty league. Assuming Fournette and Cook go 1 and 2, I'll need to decide between Davis and Williams.
Brett Kollmann > Mike Mayock
I'm going to learn today
William Evan LaPoe gon*
You gon learn today
This is my favorite series on youtube. Every video is so in depth and I love it. Would love to see these videos more often.
This explain why Dan Quinn wanted fast LBs who can drop and defend the seam routes.
Sherlock Homeboy then the running backs will be open all day
phillip nguyen that's why you use thief speed to defend RB flat & out also , just read and react
Thays why Indy took a Darius Leonard and others 2 lb this draft with the dame caractertics than Leonard
if ESPN wasn't so bad, I'd hope you'd end up on their program with segments like this.
Maybe the dude could find a spot with the NFL network. Wait...
Joe Lisenby too be honest, this type of content is extinct on ESPN. Sadly, it's all about highlights, drama, and talking personalities.
Hope he rejuvenates his career with the cowboys . Good luck Malik. Welcome to Dallas
Great evaluation
Man if I wasn't broke I give to the patreon too lol.
That break on the out route against Clemson is world-class

He didn't live up to his potential because of his injuries

Adams turned out better
Michael Martinez yea. Hooker has been good but has had to deal injuries.
Sad that he didn't live up to his potential because of injuries
This is arguably the best video you've ever made. So informative!! Malik Hooker is going to be a perennial all-pro type of player
Bretts videos are the best. I love them so much it’s crazy!!! Thank you Brett!!
Sensational analysis! Thank you so much for what you do.
Beautiful
NFL network or ESPN needs to hire you stat. You're way more informative than any of them. I'd watch an hour show of this on NFLN. Great job dude
Earl Thomas is 🐐 and Malik is on the come up.
from one h-town native to another, could you go over bouye's film. I'm curious of your thoughts on his performance this year
Welcome to the COLTS!!!
WELCOME TO THE COLTS. AND GO BUCKS!
Malik Hooker is the Free Safety, the Strong safety is Clayton Geathers, the Saftey is Darius Butler, the Corner on the left is Vontae Davis and the Corner on the right is Quincy Wilson. That's a lit secondary.
Dude, I am fucking psyched after watching this. My Colts got an absolute STEAL at #15!
Wes Cameron And with Clayton Geathers, the secondary has a lot of potential
Justin Hawkwing Clayton can play similar to Kam now. In the box safety. Also Vontae, Wilson, and Butler.
To bad your offense is fucking trash without luck and the offensive line is worse than pylons
@@juanmaestas2692 too bad you’re a raiders fan
man this is a great breakdown
Too far in between, your videos too good for you to only drop them once a week lol
It's impossible to put out high quality videos like this any more often than once a week.
Merrick Cassian I disagree I see people do it a lot for example Voch Lombardi does it. RavensNation0212 I love Voch Lombardi's vids too, love him but i think that ur wrong, Bretts vids take longer to maka
I don't doubt that they do take longer but I still believe that it ISN'T impossible to make more than one a week but I do understand that he doesn't have the time to sit in the house and do nothing but make these videos my selfish side just wants it to be more videos more frequently lol
RavensNation0212 you want quality or quantity?
Dude I'm three minutes in, your explanations are phenomenal
This makes me Appreciate him more #INDY
Love these videos. Im a huge football fan and Im learning a lot with each video of yours I watch. Thanks :)
Your videos are the best I always love the insight I watch them as soon as they drop thanks alot
I really enjoy watching this. I would like to do stuff like this in the future.
Killer job on this, man
Can't wait to see him in a colts uniform
Great video. you really know what you're talking about
Kollmann for MVP
I'm going to support your Patreon page!
This scouting report validated what I thought of him. I understood he was an amazing ball hawk but I personally didn't think of him to be a complete safety as of yet.
really appreciate these videos man
you should break down some 2015 Tyrann mathieu tape. talk about tackling through the ball carriers body.
amazing keep going man
can you do a list of your best players coming out
👌 my Colts got a steal 👏
love THIS CHANNEL.
Love love love this content!
Bro, you got me ready to draft an all rookie team in fantasy next year lol, great content as always!
this is only the second video of yours that I've watched and I have to say I'm impressed! I love how much you go into detail with these players! especially the Safeties! No problem man. Keep grinding.
MORE!!!
Great videos man! Keep it up!
Welcome to INDY!
Love your videos thanks keep it up
Awesome breakdown of Hooker. #gocolts
I love your vids man, but I can't wait a whole week to watch your vids. Your vids are just waaaaaayyyy to good.
kollman should literally be hired to someones coaching staff
Freaking great analysis!!!! Hooker to Chargers!
Great videos!!! reckon you could do a mock draft or big board or something off that kind?
he reminds me of my favorite player....Ed Reed
Scott Nichols he's a Ed reed at the u clone and it's crazy bc he might have more raw talent seeing he's only played ball since he was a junior in high school
Timvon Salter I think Ed might have been better at tackling. he was a hitter until he got older
love your vids bro
I appreciate your vids a lot and I look forward to watching them every week. Is it possible to do an analysis on Forrest Lamp soon?
i really want either adams or hooker for the bears. taking one of them, and picking up a CB in free agency would improve our team drastically
love the video
I was thinking 49ers once you mentioned Pete Carroll drafting Thomas in the 1st round in his 1st draft as coach. Not only is Lynch the new GM but they are switching to a 4-3 Under just like Seattle runs.
+1 sub; just watched 3 of your videos, pretty informative.
Malik Hooker is from my home city👌🏻🔥
The clemson game he played through a sports hernia and torn hip labrum too
I hope the 49ers draft Malik Hooker. We are switching to a 4-3 too
Crazy this he's only been playing football since his junior year in high school
As an Ohio State fan it’s so painful to see how talented that defense was yet how unprepared the offense was. That secondary as well as Alabama’s (another historically great secondary and defense) couldn’t shut down that Clemson offense.
Excellent job, this is the first vid I've seen from you. Sub'd. Gonna check out Malik McDowell now, thanks for then effort.
We need more content faster! Lol sorry to sound demanding but it's what the people want.
like announcers always say Hooker is taller version of ED Reed
I fear he's gonna have a monster combine and my chargers are gonna miss out on this stud.
love your breakdowns. Start a pattern page.

Welp if you watched the Colts PreSeason game Sunday, it looks like he's gotten better at tackling angles.

He's gonna go to the Chargers and form one of the best backfields in the league with Hayward and Verrett.
You should make a video on Jordan Willis..
Subscribed👍
Can you do one more on garret and one on Solomon Thomas
Are you going to breakdown the combine
good scouting brotha. no wonder carroll took thomas over mays. haha
Where is the Lattimore Video? Conley, Hooker.... What about the first corner off the board from Ohio?
You should do one on small school prospect CB Kristian Wilson Bowie State University
I REALLY hope the Browns pick him up! Either at 12 or trade up to take him! Him and Myles Garrett would DRASTICALLY help improve our young defense!
I hope my Bears get him or Adams

can u evaluate solomon thomas?
40 picks in practice against the Buckeye starters. QB's best know where this guy is when throwing down the field.
Do one on jarred Davis pleeeeaassseee
as 49ers fan we all ready have jimmy ward to do that
Jimmy ward is too small and simply is average football player

Gotta do Corey Davis

What do you guys think about Budda Baker? Safety for the huskies
He'll probably end up being primarily a nickel player in the NFL, but a damn good one at that
#2 pick for the 49ers?
