Two of the many things I love about Trombone Shorty are that he has kept the same personnel in his band for around 10 years, even throughout the covid shutdown of performing acts for a couple of years. Nothing improves a jazz/r&b/rock band more than this, as the band members really get to know each others' musical souls. The classic example: Duke Ellington's orchestra. Second, as a Jew I am happy to see a really strongly visual Jew as a member of a very Afro-American orchestra. And that's even before oonsidering the incredible soloing ability and leadership power of Trombone Shorty himself.
I still get chills every time I see Trombone Shorty play live (this performance, no exception!). My wife and I have seen him and the band play in various places over the years but seeing him at Jazz Fest in NOLA was just the best. We were lucky to get backstage passes for the actual Jazz Fest stage show and it was amazing to witness his energy close up even though we didn't get to directly meet him. We also saw him around town at several other venues during the 2 weeks we were in town and he was ON every time and never wanted to stop playing!
I would love a full album of this high powered Rock funk. Loved the idea of tandem drummers, singers, keys etc but only one trombone player. Shorty has it all.
Wow! I wasn’t paying attention, thinking about the interview when suddenly I hear this amazing sound!! You certainly caught my attention!! Absolutely incredible! Congratulations on your amazing performance!
He is a member of the incredibly talented Andrews family in New Orleans. And Shorty is a loyal New Orleanian . He gave a free one hour show at New Orleans Childrens Hospital last week!
A new artist to me - really unexpected. Vocals stylings similar to Lenny Kravitz, high energy rock + funk fusion, plus technical instrumentation. There's a lot of people making that sound (I got excited/worried when I saw two drummers), but it's not bloated.
@@rubytuesday4379 yes that's so true they are definitely friends beyond the music. My daughter is on the left and it has been such an privilege to see her preform for years with him and has supported her (even at her wedding in January) makes me ever so happy. Troy is so down to earth and even after he has lost his beloved mother I'm sure she's extremely proud of her son and what he has accomplished for her.
1st thought - TREME! 2nd - Now THAT is a performer! 👌👏
Yeah you right! Get that Colbert Bump!
Adore you, Trombone Shorty, *but your bass player has stolen my heart.* So talented. So sexy. Secret king of the band 😍
We Love you Brother! I Miss NOLA So Bad! Blessings!

looked up this video to see if I should buy tickets to Red Rocks to see him or not like it was worth it. it seems like it would be?
@@courtneyrichmond9471 Absolutely! If I could see him at such an iconic venue, hands down, I'd do it in a second. Totally will be worth it!

He's done a song with Lenny Kravitz. It's called "Something Beautiful" from his album "Backatown," which is fantastic.
