But the metal Mjolnir is made out of doesn't have to be magnetic. Hulk being able to lift it in space could be because of the missing gravitational field.

I think it was kind of obvious, at least in my opinion. The enchantment laid upon Mjölnir has always been about character. The only beings who can defy such an enchantment are beings above Odin. For example: Bor, through brute force alone, was able to bypass the enchantment and lift it. Bor, by the way, is the father of Odin and taught him everything he knows. He's also been said to be the one who planted the Seed that brought forth Yggdrasil. Another instance is Galactus, as he has healed from a headbutt from an enraged Odin, even going so far as to say that these games tire or bore him. And Odin himself later admitted that he lacked the strength to keep on battling Galactus.
If Tony Stark in the MCU was able to somehow stay live after the snap, I believe he would be worthy after doing such a selfless act to save the universe.

Always had in my headcanon that Magneto can, with some effort, use his powers to lift the hammer (same way he used to repel Thor’s attacks in old comics) and use it as a bludgeoning weapon but never have access to Mjolnir’s magic properties, such as casting lightning or changing into a neat norse armor.

Okay, this is what I think it comes down to: Lifting (wielding) vs. Blocking (repelling). By Tom's explanation, it seems pretty clear that Magneto could neither pick up by hand, or magnetically lift Mjolnir and use it to attack. I don't think Magneto could wave a hand and cause Mjolnir to take a right turn in its trajectory. That would come to close to wielding. However, it seems entirely likely that he could disrupt the path of Mjolnir as it is flung or swung at him by a worthy attacker. When I say disrupt, I mean at best, he could cause a flying Mjolnir to glance off of his force field, or a swung Mjolnir to knock him (within the force field) back, rather than take the hammer to the face. It would take a considerable amount of power to do either of those, and neither one would really be him doing anything magnetic to the hammer. That's another part of this equation, because I'm also of the mind that Uru isn't necessarily magnetic in any way. It comes from an alien planet, and not even all metals on Earth display magnetic properties.

Magneto is a omega level mutant. No surprise he can lift the hammer. Breaking limits is what omega level mutants do. A very enraged Hulk lifted the hammer once too.

Wouldn't you think that Magneto's power would only work on Ferrous based metals (chemical element symbol Fe)? Aren't they the only metals affected by magnetism? Uru metal would need to have ferromagnetic, paramagnetic or diamagnetic metal in it. Examples are iron, nickel and cobalt.

Guy genuinely cares about and protects mutants, you can argue his means of doing so are "questionable" but that does not determine being worthy. Not to mention the unimaginable horrors magneto found in his childhood, watching his family and people slaughtered in the holocaust, to have the strength not to use your power to destroy the world after such atrocites is a testament to his character. So like Jane Foster and Beta Ray Bill has gone through unimaginable pain and overcome it. First of, no he can not. He can't use it with his Hands. Only with his Powers and then only Mjöllnir is moved. That is all. But he can not Move IT without his Powers and that means he can't get Thors Powers. Second, even if he could, at this Point, it doesn't even matter anymore. Marvel maked literally anyone worthy in their Comics. Which means they also don't believe anymore that being worthy means something anymore. The Red Hulk wielded it in space. However, he wasn't able to use Mjölnir's powers. He was only able to use it as a normal hammer.
There are many ways to manipulate the hammer, but you can't "wield" it unless worthy.

However the question here is one of worth. That question is not answered. The obvious argument against Magneto is that he has committed despicable acts. But how many frost giants or dark elves have met their end at the hand of the Odinson? But, you might say, Thor acts to protect and defend. Surely that intention is what makes him worthy. But look at Magneto’s intention. He wishes only to protect and defend mutants from those who would seek to destroy them. He might see that the only path to that end is mutant rule of the Earth, but his motivations are arguably pure.
So, is Magneto worthy to wield Mjolnir? I say the answer is a very strong “maybe”.

Good, i like this. People tend to forget that mjolnir has an enchantment placed on it. Magneto shouldn't lift it, nor should Hulk lift it by using sheer force.

First of, no he can not. He can't use it with his Hands. Only with his Powers and then only Mjöllnir is moved. That is all. But he can not Move IT without his Powers and that means he can't get Thors Powers.
Second, even if he could, at this Point, it doesn't even matter anymore. Marvel maked literally anyone worthy in their Comics. Which means they also don't believe anymore that being worthy means something anymore.
Honestly it doesn't take much to fix this mess done, but i am sure it won't happen. I would fix it myself for Marvel, i would even writte them 100 original Characters for the Chance of fixing the Nonesense done to the Mythos of Thor.
