Good video but I have a few suggestions if you make another one. Some captions would be nice, talking about things like which tool you are shaving the leather with, the black stuff you use at the end, water temperature, leather type, stitching tools/technique etc. You could even write a short summary in the description or just add captions to this video.
Most people back stitch two or three stitches, then cut the stitching about 1/4 inch, and use a lighter to melt the thread. because the holes are small, those back stitches will be difficult, and you may need a pliers to pull the needles through, but it also makes it unlikely that the threads will come loose.
If you wet formed it, shouldn't it be exactly the same size of the knife? Then why are you using a separator when you do the stitching? doesn't the knife comes out? Thanks, I'm trying to make my first sheath.
The thin leather strip that he glued in place before stitching is called a "welt" and it's used to keep the edge of the knife blade from cutting through the stitching. He wet formed it pretty tight, so the welt shouldn't really loosen the knife that much. You can also wet form the sheath after the stitching.
Hey all I am pretty much new at the leather art form . I am wanting to learn as much as possible. I am a little bit hesitant about using the net as well. I am new at that as well. I have made several attempts to create several leather items. little luck. I am hoping that I can get good input and help on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
With wet forming it usually just results in a very tight fit for retention rather than a strap to hold it in the sheath. I also form the leather around the guard of my knives, just not so severely. It will come out, just not easily. (No one wants a blade coming out when it's not supposed to.)
The music is ok but it should’ve been in background low while you explained the steps you took. Anyone can make a tutorial video with music! Not being a a*s just saying it would’ve been more helpful explaining it to ppl.
I love the music choice! I was getting into it. Nothing "demonic" about this music.... smh. Your process of sheath making is amazing. This video only lacks written or spoken description of the tools your using and some of the steps you take. Thank you!
Nice vid got some good tips but please ditch the crap demonic music this is a craft your involved in not a covers ,something pleasant and light ,I'm sure others think the same ant from Wales please don't be offended just an observation maybe no music at all !
+anthony preston Demonic? It is sound. And i think it is cool and fits to the video. The sound can´t be demonic, because it does not harm or teach people to do bad things - there are no lyrics. I understand, that you don´t like it, but to call it demonic, is a little exaggerated?
I too found the music somewhat "squeally". It's not good for observing a craftsman. While not demonic, it didn't have a beat and you can't dance to it.

Without talking you explained a lot, Thanks
Great video! What dye did you use for edges? Looks like a marker...
Beautiful job. What is the thickness of a leather you are using?
thanks for the close-ups! your wet forming is impressive! so precise!
is there a name for the final stitch! very nice saddle stitching!! but i always have trouble terminating the stitching. thanks!
How do you tie off the thread on final stitch...

Am I the only one wondering how the knife comes out? the leather is formed around the guard!!!!!!

Handwerklich eine tolle Leistung.👍
Nur hat nicht jeder die Werkzeuge !😞
Und die Musik ist ja nicht zum aushalten !👎
Спасибо, супер!
good job
Excellent !
its all about the right tools.
Sehr cool :D
WTF happened to the end, that was abrupt and didn't give a good finished shot of the sheath. looked really good though

mike degrazia you're*... don't make us look worse than we already do...
As for the music, it's fine lol, I kinda liked it
I agree, I gave up after three minutes!
I too found the music somewhat "squeally". It's not good for observing a craftsman. While not demonic, it didn't have a beat and you can't dance to it.
