Canyon is without a doubt my favorite lake in AZ and maybe on earth. been there hundreds of times to swim and boat and hike and hangout- now im going to bank fish for bass!
Good vid, nice catch. I appreciate your content to help me get out more. Thanks for reminding me again and again why I no longer use ALL mono on my reals and also why I no longer use bait casters if I'm switching baits on them a lot as even the wind can change your settings so you don't get rats nests. I find they are great if you have a lot of them set for specific baits and weights. Cheers though.
Losing those fish is the main con of crankbaits - it's easy for fish to shake them loose, despite all the hooks. Unless it's a pickerel, then every hook will be bone deep in it😂
Curious where at Canyon Creek you go? I was there this morning, around Acadia. Kept getting snagged in the rocks, the spots in your video look to be a lot nicer then where I was. Thanks
@Brynn Howe I usually follow the road at the acacia recreation site to the very end. There are some good spots all along that area though. I snag quite a bit too, that’s just part of fishing where the fish are😁
I've been there quiet a few times and never had the results you had here. What time of the year was this? Looks like early morning. Was this right out from the public swimming area? Fun to watch, but would like some details. I caught some blue-gills there a long time ago and couldn't eat them, as they were horribly mushy and muddy tasting. I'm curious if the bass are edible. I lost so many lures there to rock snags it wasn't funny, and finally gave up.
Well Done, Sir! Well Done! I got to Chevelon and camped...brutal climb out for a 65 yr old. Now I have to see where Canyon Lake is. Fishing some of the Rim Lakes, then to Black River. Getting Out And Living!! Outstanding catch!! I was gunna share my fishing story but its your channel!! 😄 Thanks Man, very cool!
@@GOALFishing its been very quiet this week at campground, maybe one other party staying the night. There's a DIY yak trailer with busted axle on ATV trail to a beautiful Lake with fewer boats on water then the other Rim Lakes. I dunno if you have access to ATV. I left my Sea Ghost in N. Ga this trip. I fished the creek below spillway for 1,000 yds give or take. Definitely more wild trout here then other Rim Lakes. But again, one has to work to fish it. But we yakrs always work to fish an area, don't we? No signal down there at all so one needs to be...resourcfull if disaster occurs. Its isolated and one of the most peaceful locations I've been in to in...decades. Bob Marshall ( Wilderness area) comes to mind. One day I saw no one at all down there ! Glorious!
michael tichonuk That is awesome! I love places that take a little more effort to get to because it weeds out those who are not willing to put in the work. I will give it a try sometime. I love places that have a lot of wild fish.
Hey man, love the channel. I just moved back to AZ. I have a channel as well and would love to meet up and do some fishing sometime. You make some stellar vids and give great tips. Tight lines. Lmk if you ever want to hit the water 🎣
Love Canyon lake. The giant white pile of rock that goes 3/4 of the way up the cliff across from where you were fishing was a massive lightning strike around 1910. At least some park manager told me. At 4:45 far rigjt you can see it
Fished same area of Accaia yesterday from shore and I got 3 largemouth on the Cabela's mean eye, blade baits in chartuese/yellow and one was sunrise shad..lost 3 unfortunately, lots of snags for those trebles from shore. Also a few bluegill too. No yellow bass I Fished 6-12
So on Thursday I caught 2 keepers one blue gill and a yellow bass. The rest of the catches were all blue gill except another yellow bass that was literally 2 inches long. Had ton of fun!
@K_ Gaston I got it at Dicks Sporting Goods. It’s a field and stream shadow caster. Here’s a link to a video I did on it. ua-cam.com/video/oXrwvcHzqNg/v-deo.html
dman0odman It takes practice to get it down. Make sure you get the brakes set so that the spool doesn’t unspool too fast. I would practice with something about 3/4 oz until you start getting the hang of it and then try other things. Once you get used to the bait casters you’ll love em.
Stuart Gross I haven’t put a lot of thought into doing fishing lessons. I am working on some online products that will help you but they are not ready to launch yet.
Swift Truthmindset as long as you have a license and are able to do a little hiking then yes. If you use the recreation sites be sure to buy a recreation pass.

Rule 1) Check line before leaving home
Rule 2) Check drag before casting
Great video man. I am more of a trout fisherman than bass but after watching this, I will have to get into it. Thank you
Thank you for doing this video. I feel like myself and many others are restricted to bank fishing so find this is more helpful than from a kayak.
Sparrow415 to BKK thank you! I’m glad it was helpful!
The fishing permit you mentioned for that Recreation Area is it the one for Tonto National Forest?
Sparrow415 to BKK Yes. It’s the Tonto Recreation pass.
Favorite AZ fishing channel. Keep it up and G-O-A-L !
Jeff Bradburn thanks a ton! That means a lot!
Make a plug knocker for getting snagged cranks back. Awesome video and sweet bass. 😱

FYI, to help your rods last longer, when snagged pull back straight and thumb the reel
I was out today and grabbed my 12' tenkara rod to play with the bluegill and ended up catching a 2lb bass on a #16 kebari.
Great video! Very motivational. 🙏🏻
Justin Griffith thanks man!
Nice fish! Awesome to get that lost lure back too. Thanks
HeyNow_819 yeah that’s always a nice surprise.
Losing those fish is the main con of crankbaits - it's easy for fish to shake them loose, despite all the hooks. Unless it's a pickerel, then every hook will be bone deep in it😂
Looks fun! But, FYI I spend a bunch of money on changing my line / quality line, especially 12 to 6 lb.
What an awesome Fish! Way to go Jake!
Shari Boylan thanks!
I've caught several nice largemouth just off of that same point. Lost a lot of lures there too lol
Oo
Great video, thanks so much.i. going to give canyon a try this week
Bobber the Clown let me know how you do.
Get out and live.. love that message! Cool video!
SaltyFreshFL thanks! I truly appreciate it!
Get out and live it up baby!

You must go super early on a weekday, I can never get to the lake before there's tons of people.

michael tichonuk no worries man. I love it when others Get Out And Live! I’d like to go to Chevelon sometime soon. I hear that place is pretty cool.

Thanks bud I feel better now. I need to fish with you. Are you free during the week?
Thank you! Where abouts on the lake would you recommend to bank fish from?

@J Nolette that's really cool! Thanks for sharing
would you recommend bank fishing at canyon lake in this season or is lake pleasant better
Would recommend 15 lb. Braid with a 4 foot floro leader or straight mono for bank Fishing?
KR
AWESOME CATCH!
Kari F thanks
Only one more cast....
REBEL Crawdad Z.
Awesome video!!
Mark Larsen thanks man. I had a ton of fun.
great content brother def got my sub

Eric Bonofacio nicely done man! Anything big on the largies?
@@GOALFishing nothing huge, just average but on the bright side not dinks
Eric Bonofacio the white and black buoy is about 12 feet and it drops pretty quick past that one. The no wake buoys are around 30
So on Thursday I caught 2 keepers one blue gill and a yellow bass. The rest of the catches were all blue gill except another yellow bass that was literally 2 inches long. Had ton of fun!
nicholas hinton awesome man! Let me know what you think about the yellow bass when you eat it.
G-O-A-L Fishing shoot I ate it same day less then 12 hours after. Super good!! Almost like cod. Would never of thought it.
do you know a place i can shoreline camp and do some catfishing? please help and thank you.
What part of the Lake where you fishing? I've only been to Tortilla Flat area and can't seem to find a bank to fish from.
@Dewayne MDC this was at the Acacia recreation site.
“Oooh look a dead kitty” LOOOL that cracked me up. Also those patos didn’t respond to you. How rude :(
PoopFish did you notice that the patos laughed at me when I snapped off? How rude of them. I thought I was being polite 😂
G-O-A-L Fishing lol, dude you’re my new favorite az youtube fishing channel. great stuff. looking forward to more videos!
PoopFish thanks man that means a lot!
Let’s go fishing! New at fishing and need a lot of help I live in the east valley
I'll be moving to Arizona in a few months. I used to fish in Arkansas, can you recommend some basic fishing lures used in Arizona please.
DRT Klash 9 Megabass 10 inch mag draft
Depends on season and where you go
Right on! So when you say your hook is bent up pretty bad, do you mean you just gotta realign it so the hook is straight up? 9:10
ty max yes. Just need to bend it back with pliers to match the other set of hooks.
Can you catch and cook at this lake? I appreciate your reply 🙏🏼
Only been to canyon once. I am a bank fisher, mostly Bartlett. Where do you park at canyon? Thanks , enjoyed your video.
Keith Laurence I usually park at the acacia recreation site.
Dude.. great fish, but get it back in the water. They dont breath air man!
Thanks or video, enjoyed learning from it..
When is the best time to go to canyon?
Hello, the mean eye bait your using. What length is it? you said 1/4 ounce chrome back but not the length. I wanted to ask before I order it.
@CHEVBOY !! It’s 1 5/8”
I am interested in your kayak. I see that it is a Field and Stream. What model and where did you get it?
@K_ Gaston I got it at Dicks Sporting Goods. It’s a field and stream shadow caster. Here’s a link to a video I did on it. ua-cam.com/video/oXrwvcHzqNg/v-deo.html
I didnt even know there was yellow bass in there
Why did I yak all around Canyon the other day for lesser results 🤣😂. Way to go!!! I need to fish around the rec sites more ofte .
Jesse Sardina haha yeah I felt the same way. It was nice not to unload and reload the kayak for a change.
Hey how are you not getting any backlash??? I get so much. Do you have tips for a beginner?
dman0odman It takes practice to get it down. Make sure you get the brakes set so that the spool doesn’t unspool too fast. I would practice with something about 3/4 oz until you start getting the hang of it and then try other things. Once you get used to the bait casters you’ll love em.
dman0odman another important thing I left out is that you use your thumb as a brake too to keep the spool from unspooling too fast.
Brake is important, but setting spool tension is more important
Yo I just moved to Pheonix here for the next couple of months, whats some other good fishing holes this Marylander can visit
@Eric Henriquez Bartlett lake up by sb cove recreation site is good. If you’re bank fishing plan on snags because there’s a lot of rocks.
Would you please post the GPS coordinates of your trips?
which spot is this?
Is canyon lake only fish and release?
No
what lure were you using?
@Fastco0311 I was using a Cabelas mean eye blade bait in black and chrome. I do show what I use at the end of the video.
Couldn't find a fish on canyon lake. Alot on the screen but no takers.
Bobber the clown I was there yesterday too. I managed to get just one little dink and that was it.
What side of the lake is that
@Checo G this is at the acacia recreation site
where is he fishing at canyon>???
Will you do fishing lessons and what would you charge for me and my wife? thx.
Stuart Gross I haven’t put a lot of thought into doing fishing lessons. I am working on some online products that will help you but they are not ready to launch yet.
@@GOALFishing I’ll keep a lookout. If you ever decide on lessons count us in. Enjoy your videos!
Lost me as soon as you walked to the lake. Grrrrrrr!
Stop adjusting your drag after you hook a fish and you'll have a whole lot more luck landing them
Why not fry some of these big bass
You need a pass to fish in canyon lake or can you get away with it ?
Buy a pass. Support the lake
Can anyone go fishing at canyon lake
Swift Truthmindset as long as you have a license and are able to do a little hiking then yes. If you use the recreation sites be sure to buy a recreation pass.
