Wow so much has changed i new they remodeled was there before the remodeled I started coming in 2021 and will be back in 3 week so excited and great video of the resort i never got see it before the remodeled so cool to see the difference
I was so concerned Riu would ruin the resort's visual appeal just like they did with Riu Palace Riviera Maya when they did their major remodel. I was relieved most of its beauty was salvaged. This is still one of my favorite Cancun resorts...have a great vacay there!
+Kasmian Campa You should go, it's within walking distance to the nightclubs and you get access to other Riu resorts including the one next door (Riu Cancun).
+Daniela Castillo it's my understanding that the Las Americas is going to undergo some renovations in the public spaces later on this year. The look of the place may change with the renovations--most of the Riu renovations are more modern in style. The Peninsula was just finished several years ago so it will remain pretty much the same for awhile. You may want to contact Riu and ask about what the new look will be like in order to decide.
Across the street is Plaza Caracol which is a small mall, there is also a very large store which is like a super Walmart which is also across the street and within walking distance. you can also catch the public bus for $1 and take it south to La Isla Mall or Kukulcan Plaza. if you decide to do this you will have to walk a bit to catch the bus since the resort is located on a one-way street. I just got back from Cancun and filmed the renos done to RPLA which should be posted by mid week.
Thank you so much for the tour, it's very helpful to know where to go when we get there. I heard that this place going to be adult only sometime in 2017. is it true adult only?
It already is adults-only. I have a new video out of the renovations-- I was just in Cancun a couple of months ago. check out my other videos and you will see it.
+Sara Hall all the drinks I ordered were included. Bottles of wine/liquor/champagne and glasses of non-house wine are typically an extra charge at most all-inclusives, so I would imagine that would be the same here as well. There were no extra charges on our bill when we checked out.
+Allinclusive Gal (allinclusivegal) awesome.. is room service free and all the restaurants on site free as well? thanks for any extra info. we will be staying there in July
+Sara Hall room service is free but there is a limited food menu--when I was there last year it was available 24-7. All restaurants are free but you have to make a reservation at the a la cartes--reservations can be made at the desk next to the reception desk (you will see menus near there). My favorite a la carte was Krystal, my least favorite was the steakhouse. Buffet is fantastic for selection at breakfast and dinner. If you order lobster there may be an extra charge, I don't know about that for sure but at many a la cartes that is the case. I don't know if you've stayed at a Riu before, but there are liquor dispensers in each guest room--a nice extra perk. If you want mixers, I believe there is a grocery store across the street in front of Riu Cancun which is next door. If you are tired of the Palace property, you are free to go to Riu Cancun to enjoy the facilities during the day, onsite disco at night. Any more questions just let me know. Have fun!!
+Sara Hall yes, swim-up bar drinks are included as well in your upfront paid price. That's why I like all-inclusive resorts--I pay one amount and the only thing I really need to worry about is how much I care to tip certain workers. (not everyone tips, but I do if I like the service). Riu resorts are very nice resorts and the Las Americas is a particularly nice one for Cancun.

We are having a wedding next January 2017 and cannot decide between Riu Palace Las Americas and Riu Palace Peninsula..which would you recommend???

Thanks for the tour! We are going to be there in July of 2016, first time going to Cancun for us?
+Funskier67 Have a good time in July! If you stay in this part of Cancun you are in walking distance to all the major clubs.
you are gonna love it
Is this walking distance to malls? And shops

+Allinclusive Gal (allinclusivegal) that sounds great! even the drinks at the swim up bar free as well? just seems too good to be true
