Do you prefer a compact gimbal like the Crane M3 or better a bigger one like the Weebill 2?
I’ve never used a gimbal but have been considering one for a while. This might look like a good fit. Good work on the review.

@@pascalbasel if you put both side by side there is not a big difference and only 200g difference. But the weebill s stabilize better and can balance much much more easier. The slung mode is also far better. The crane m3 has a defect screen design (oled burn in) and cannot control an a7c with bluetooth (at least right now) when crane m2 can. And the custom plate are unavailable and are listed extremely expensive apparently. There is a lot of downside in the crane m3. Some good thing as well like the light. But all of you the reviewers you seems to forget all the bad sides..
@@CC-gt3ro I used Weebill Lab & Weebill S and the M3 is a big difference. You forget that all that people like me want is something small that gives stabilization when walking. I don’t need any fancy features and wouldn’t even take the time to connect it to my camera via bluetooth as pressing buttons on camera is quicker. So for reviewers that see this gimbal from my perspective, these are no downsides. For people that need more, this gimbal is just not the right product. My screen works fine but true, an lcd would be smarter. Seems like a warranty case for me tough.

Excellent review Pascal, and I agree that if the quick release plate would allow my to put the camera back on my Peak Design clip without removing another plate I would buy one these immediately. Fingers crossed they reconsider this, because its a deal breaker that I couldn’t put the camera on this gimbal and then on another tripod without removing the plate.
I just bought the Crane M3 so learning how to use it. I think it is perfect for function and size for my Canon m6 and also my Nikon Z5 with small lenses. Priced affordably as well. Thanks for posting your great video.
I have Crane M2 and it holds perfectly A7C with Sony 20mm 1.8 lens including ND filter mounted on a lens. Smaller lenses such as Samyang and kit lens has no issues at all. M3, as you stated is slightly bigger than M2 and that is a dealbreaker for me. I wish it was smaller than M2 or the same with axis locks. BTW, I use a special 3rd party plate on M2, which is Arca compatible and I can quickly swap cameras with this plate.
The a7C is insane haha. That's great then, you already got what you need.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to cameras, gimbals etc. I started a UA-cam channel a year ago using a selfie stick and a Canon Powershot 740 HS. The Canon is good, but the selfie stick, not so much. My videos are really shaky. I had never heard of a gimbal until about a month ago. Now I have two as I've purchased a Sony ZV 1. Moving forward, my videos won't be shaky and hard to watch. I wish I had known about gimbals before now. If you are considering starting a YT channel, go ahead and get a gimbal and a good camera.
The only issue is the oled screen. People are reporting burn in. Zhiyun , should add to the next firmware, a screen saver with a customized timing 3-5-10 sec, and one touch to switch on again. I hope they do that to the next firmware. I am interested but the burn in screen is a stop right now. I wait.

Can you fit a smallrig cage on a7c the 3212 weight 192g so maybe it would fit the 28-75 with the counterbalance weight. The issue is probably the right side of the cage could not fit the gimbal.
For Vloger with big iPhone 13 Pro Max. I try My new iPhone 13 Pro Max with what I have at home , the big Crane 2 with the 13 Pro Max on it and it works . but for sure I would like the new M3 instead
It flies my FX3 and 24mm 2.8 in perfect balance. I'm smitten. Yeah, it doesn't hold a candle to the materials and fit/finish found in the RSC2 or the RS2. But it also isn't over two feet tall as loaded or a pain to put in a bag.
Quite an honest review. Personally I tries using a gimbal, but for me, setting it up was taking too much of my time. I gave mine out. But this is making me reconsider probably getting one again. I saw your model Roma burning up some calories 😀

If somebody knows what the mention ´video filming saving/playback’ on the zhiyun site means for the crane m3.?The a7c and zv-e10 and dcs-wx350 are the only three sony which are not compatible with these features. What does it means? Does it mean the button on the camera cannot control the start/stop? This would be stupid. No reviewers complained so it must be something else.. i am curious. What is saving/playback?

@@dynastymuzik now i know .a7c is not compatible with the start stop and iso aperture or shutter speed management directly from the gimbal. the weebill 3 is compatible and the m2s also is compatible. so it seems it is possibly an hardware issue with the m3 or zhiyun didn't spend time to upgrade it. I say that because recently they upgraded the weebill - s to be compatible with a7c. so it is possible.

Yes, there is a 1/4inch mount on the left side where you can attach a monitor holder to.
Do the camera cables allow you to pull focus with the scroll wheel? I’d love to be able to manual focus with my xt4

How many and what type of cameras does a videographer realistically need? Do we always need to travel with tonns of heavy technology or can we simplify it?
Camera, drone, maybe an action cam and a few lenses. Depends on what you’re doing exactly. I need two bodies to film myself and shoot Timelapse’s and videos at the same time. I also don’t like to change lenses, so two bodies are better.
@@pascalbasel Would you make a video specifically on legalities around use of drones - which countries to avoid, what to consider, where to do the research, what's allowed, what isn't and so on. A bit of the boring stuff, but there seems to be too many restrictions on using drones and it's easy to get discouraged.
@@G_Channel_G Sorry, but the varies so much from country to country and changes all the time that such a video wouldn’t make sense. Best to just google it for each country you visit.

Yes
Does this gimbal have the capability to handle the weight with a Smallrig cage too?
That depends on your camera. For ads-c I would say yes. But it also lifts the weight up, what puts more stress on the motors. So if you can, better to take it off.

M3 Gimbal doesn't support usb to usb connection to A7C, Do you know any fix? or, how do you using it bro? Also do you think A7C+ sony 24mm F1.4 will work good with Crane M3?

I wouldn't recommend it for DSLRs. Only for mirrorless.

Hi, When i used crane m3 with sigma 16mm + zve10, i faced vibration in my gimbal sometimes. Is it for load capacity or inappropriate balance? Is it compatible for sigma 16mm lense really? My camera + lens total weight is 770gm. This weight is overloaded? Please reply.
That’s either wrong balance or motors are not fine tuned. 770g is no problem for this gimbal.

It comes with a standard plate, where you can mount a phone holder and I think the mid and pro packages also come with a phone holder. So yes :-)
Nice review! I am looking to buy my first gimbal. I would be pairing it with a Sony A7R3 and a 28-75 tamron, I don't know if the M3 can take this set up. I'm really digging the style and portability factor :)
I‘d not recommend it for this combo. It can carry it but you won’t get the full range of motion. Best with lighter prime lenses like the Viltrox 24 1.8 or so.

@@pascalbasel If anyone is curious, I got the M3 now and it works nicely with the XT4 + XF10-24 f4. I don't know what the full range of motion is (it's my first gimbal) but I can even go into "underslung mode" and portrait mode works as well. Only thing I had to do was remove the viewfinder eyepiece cap.

Where do you get the camera-specific quick release plates? All the "influencers" talk about and show them, but I do not see them as sold anywhere.
I think they switched to a universal one, which wasn't available on launch.

exactly the combo i am looking around for. since the 17-70 is somewhat long, i am afraid it probably wont work well with the crane m3. but i am yet to see any youtuber talk about this particular combo. i would love to know if it works, even if it has some limitations.

I prefer the Tamron 11-20 due to it's 2.8 aperture. Both lenses should work on the M3.

That's not an issue unless it's super heavy. With something like a Videomic NTG or Sony ECM-B1M it should work.

I ordered this to test A7SIII with Sony 35mm f1.8 and Tamron 17-28 F2.8 I haven't seen a review with this lenses so im curious to see if it works. I hope it does.

@@DanFandelli it doesn’t work. A7SIII is to big. I returned it. The Ronin SC2 should be portable enough. Is the smallest gimbal that can handle the weight. This gimbal is for smaller cameras. In this video he got paid to say all that so… yeah.

How is this compared to the crane 2 (not the M2). I thinking of getting this to use with the ZV-e10 and A7IV with the sigma 16mm f1.4?
I didn't use the Crane 2 but if you want to be mobile, the Crane M3 is the way too go. Both setups you mentioned will work fine.
@@pascalbasel Thanks for that information! Hard to believe, but very pleasing since the ZV-E10 is quite lightweight and the Sigma 16mm is quite a heavy lens, so the camera will probably have to go far back to be balanced. If this setup really works, I would definitely buy the M3.
UPDATE: I have just loaded the Crane-M3 with Sony ZV-E10 and Sigma 16mm F/1.14 and was able to balance it perfectly (without lens hood though). However, this seems to be the limit of what is possible with this gimbal. When adding my variable 72mm ND filter with step-up ring (67 to 72mm), this setup eventually becomes too top-heavy without a counterweight. A fixed ND filter might still be possible, I have yet to try that.
What weight does it carry??
It doesn't say anything about weight. It's more about the camera/lens combination to keep it level. Zhiyun should give information on their website on which setups fit.

There is no official weight limit. It depends on the balance between lens and camera. But the motors are quite strong. Even a7Siii + Tampon 28-75 is possible, you just don't get the full range of motion.
But does it work well with Fuji?
Sure, Fuji is even lighter as Sony ;-)
@@pascalbasel hi pascal, fuji has compatibility issues with most gimbals on the market. Am pretty sure OP asked about compatibility more than the weight
@@newleaf9501 there is a compatibility list on the site. Apparently it does not support charging while operating for all fuji camera when it is functional on all Sony (except a7s3 strangely). They also indicate no saving/playback for all fuji. But i don’t know what it means because the sony a7c and zv-e10 are also the two only sony camera which indicates no saving/playback. For the two sony cameras, these are the only one with usb type c only cable, all the other sony have the type c to multi connector. But for fuji none have the saving/playback. But except that the xt3/xt4 and plenty of other fuji are listed. With the corresponding minimum camera firmware version. I would like to have an explanation of reviewer on this mention ´saving/playback’

Too big for me
No ZOOM function via the Adjustment Wheel. The manual states that it will be available in a later upgrade. This is a great disappointment!!! You can only control the camera via USB cable (no Bluetooth as with the M2). The only camera control with my Sony ZV-1 that I could use was recording. Such a failure for a blogging gimbal!! At least with the Crane M2 you could control the zoom of the camera. This Zhiyun product had failures too! It would cause the Sony ZV-1's screen to darken so much that you couldn't view it in the sun! I feel that the Crane-M3 is a downgrade to the Crane-M2 in basic functionality. An incorporated LED light is nice, but you need to be able to control the camera's zoom!!!!
