    I took a long time deciding on whether to buy an all and waiting for one that fit all my requirements. I finally bought one when the gen 4 Brewzilla was released. To me the main benefit isn't the high up controller (although that is good for the back I guess), but rather
    - Centre drain, so easy to clean, no need to tip it to get all the liquid out.
    - Tiny dead space under the false bottom, allows not only a bigger grain bill but also a smaller one. I did a 5 litre batch the other day which would be very difficult on other all in ones.
    - Expandability. Touched upon in the video, but if at a future point I wanted to do a double batch I can buy a couple of extenders. They also do an extended malt pipe if I wanted to use even more grain.
    - Bluetooth integrations. They have a Bluetooth temperature probe coming out which will allow for the core mash temp to be monitored (rather than the liquid in the base) and for this to be the temperature that is being controlled.
    If you were selling them if have bought it from you for sure, but had to go elsewhere for this purchase!

    I have an older generation Brewzilla, and really enjoy brewing with it. The false bottom IMO is too flimsy though and has suffered some damage over time. I’ve now bought their heavy duty false bottom which is a great upgrade and I’d like to see KL supply this with the Zilla as the standard version.

      Yeah it would be good to see the heavy duty false bottom as standard, i guess they are trying to keep costs down to new comers

      I was still getting a blocked pump with the HD false bottom. On my last brew I used the HD false bottom, and then overlaid the original false bottom on top of it. Seems to work, although only one batch so far.@@Geterbrewed

    I just wanted to say that this looks really good for the price and I like the idea of the extendable boiler. I suspect that the 30L version will far out sell the 65L version as that one needs a dedicated 15A circuit (the UK only has 13A max), you will need to get an electrician to put a 15A supply into your consumer box to power it. Once again thanks for the great video.

      Yeah we find the 65/70 litre systems sell at a fraction of the volume of the 30 litre systems

    This looks to have addressed all of the issues I have encountered with the gen 3 that I use. 1) Regular pump failures were a pain because of small pipe bores and inaccessible pump. I gave up using the pump. Bigger diameter pipes here and what looks like a more robust and certainly a more accessible one. 2) love the look of the conical bottom. The gen 3 has a large amount of dead space (wasted beer). 3) glad to see the sturdy handles on the lid. One of the flimsy knobs on my gen 3 snapped off early. Looks like a great machine now.

    I love my gen3 65L BZ. The main issue I have is the drain and the controller’s location, but they have addressed that on the new version! I previously owned a GF30 and I’d say the BZ gen4 is by far the best all-in-one system out there at this time.

    I have brewed with the Gen 3.1 for a couple of years now and have to say it is great. I have had no issue with the false bottom. The controller was in an awkward place so it's goo to see that they moved it. I don't think I would upgrade to the Gen 4, however, if my Gen 3 were to give up I would defintely go for the gen 4.

    Nice overview but would love to see it in action. I have the gen 3 version which I am happy with. I agree that I like more hands on and less WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity, but data collection can be important for consistency. Cheers ☮️

      @@devilmaycare2809 cheers for that, that was my main concern with the 65l. I use two 50l commercial kegs as fermenters so ideally want 47 or 48l in each to yield 45l in the serving kegs and the 35l gen 4 with the extensions seems to fit the bill nicely

    Just spotted this while searching for a few other experiences online. I recently got a Gen 4, coming from a G30, and I'd have to say I'm quite unimpressed so far. Straight out of the box the build quality leaves a lot to be desired compared to the G30 and the metal parts quite thin an flimsy. The RAPT portal also leaves a lot be be desired and I don't know what comes before Alpha level test software, but it's in that bracket.
    On a couple of brews I've found it to be very temperemental as regards holding temp, though I did get it to improve slightly on the second go by having the pump cranked back to a dribble and losing about 10 points efficiency, but it was still varying a lot more than other units I've used. There's apparently a diverter plate to go on the false bottom that fixes this so I wouldn't stock them until that's added. I'm going to attempt to make one to see what happens. Speaking of the false bottom - I have never brewed on any system, homemade or otherwise, that lets as much material into the pump. The second one couldn't even be salvaged as it managed to clog up and block my counterflow chiller completely. Probably needs a large bag in the malt pipe during mash and sparge if one can be found that fits it. Or some other workaround - this seems to be a brewing system that will need a lot of those.
    On the positive side, the handles are great and it's handy clean the main unit because of the bottom drain hole but unfortunaltely a ruined 20 litre batch of wort is not what you want to be cleaning down through the hole.
    I haven't completely given up on it yet but the old system will look very tempting the next time I'm brewing.

    Does anyone use the new Gen4 for distilling. Every single Facebook group or online forum says to stay clear as they don't have voltage control and that even though you can purchase a voltage controller, the screen turns off below 20-30% (which stop the elements). Also, a lot of comments were made about these systems causing excessive smearing due to the elements turning off every time the temperature needs to reduce.

    I have done a number of brews on my Gen4 and have experienced a problem with the pump getting blocked so have been unable to extract to the fermenter. Has anyone else had this problem on the Gen4?

    • @fincito
      @fincito Рік тому

      Had this problem on the Gen 3 and so now I always brew on a small table so that the wort can be drained to my fermenter via the tap. On the Gen 4, I’ve heard that people are swapping the standard pump out for more powerful versions as it’s easy to do.

    • @padraickeogh
      @padraickeogh Рік тому

      Had a disaster with it for that very thing recently, but the pump didn't completely block before it clogged up my chiller completely too.

      @@danejames7098 Sorry, I should have specified I was using a Grainfather counterflow chiller at the time with it and that’s what it blocked, not the immersion. To update: with the diverter plate modification it’s a bit better at cleaning up the amount of grain in the boil but you really do need to use some sort of additional filter for the mash and hops. I’m using a brew bag around the malt pipe for the mash now and a spider for my hops.
