    To make the half cherry stand up, I thought you would have used a toothpick. But, a glue tack is better, because that way you don't damage the cherry. Your videos are always very inspiring.
    And I have to tell you that for a French person like me, the fact that you still pronounce so clearly means that I can watch you without activating the subtitles. THANKS.

    Thank you. I've only found your channel recently, and I'm both enjoying them and learning. I appreciate that you want to get it right in camera! So many think to "just do it in Photoshop." I've used PS for a long time, I still prefer to hone my skills with my camera. I'm working to improve my still life images and I've come to the right place.

    Looks so simple when you demonstrate the process, but it needs a very dedicated practice and dedication like you to conceive such a great result. Hats off to your mastery and willingness to give away in total ❤❤❤

    I always love seeing how you work with the lights towards reaching the effect you want.
    It's always instructive!
    In this case if I would have been shooting I may have stopped at a slightly different place and not added the dark saturated colour filter, perhaps left the light intentionally a little bit decentered for some extra tension in the image, but those are personal creative choices! You are a master of your technique and I wish I had the same convenient stands and grips for placing lights, flags, etc.

    Great video as always! But I just found it pretty cool to see the focus point moving along the table as you focusing on the subject. If you look you can see a distinct line moving along thanks to dust particles, awesome stuff ❤

    I have a Canon 6D Mark II camera (and a 24-70mm lens). I would like to know which extension tube you used. Thank you very much!
    Also, I am greatly impressed by your video. You are a great photographer and teacher! I have subscribed your channel and will watch your other lessons.

    interesting dslr tutorial, would be good to see this kind of subject shot with other formats, to see how the workflow differs, and how the shallow depth of field of MF and LF give different perspectives on the subject matter.

    Really nice. What I'd additionally do though is to add a polariser to the lens. I'm not a huge fan of the white reflections on the reflected cherry. I think it might have looked much yummier if these were gone.

    Now I want to eat cherries. What a cool photo.
    But in the lower part, a little to the right from the center, is there a footprint left? At first I thought it was my dirty monitor 😁

    In the good old times, we used to reverse the enlarging lens. That is the lens used for making enlargements of the print, for those who have never seen or used an enlarger. Macro lenses were rare and expensive, and extension tubes were not so readily available.

    Great video however it made me crazy that you did not clean the surface. 😀 Going to pass this on to some novice photographers I know who keep insisting to me that stuff like this can’t be done without heavy photoshop. Back in the day, we did this stuff on film with a Polaroid back for our test shots.

    Curiosity could you achieve similar if Perspex was standing upright?

    • @andyvan5692
      @andyvan5692 Рік тому +2

      not with his dslr, like mirrors, you would be in the shot ( you need the lateral shift movement of a view camera {monorail} to overcome this perspective issue) also, with this monorail option, he would NOT require extension tubes, as the monorail is long enough, just extend the front standard to >1.5x focal length (infinity distance) and you have it!, also the movements would allow the shallow dof to be controlled, eliminating shadow, glare, etc, without having to stop down so far, thus giving the subject separation required for this single subject,( and as it is not at f8-f16, no risk of diffraction limitations).
