The boom of my 12 element cubical quad beam was 66ft built on a 2 inch boom with inner sleeves and 1/2 round cap plates over the boom joints fastened with self drilling screws. T support in the boom center with 3 sets of cables each side of center . The 6 element quad = 17 db gain, 8 element on 40 ft boom = 19db gain....increase of about 2db gain per additional 2 elements. Guessing the 12 element possibly 22 to 23 db gain. It was a massive antenna and impressive antenna but for the trouble of getting up and down for maintenance....I would stay with something more practical and no larger than a 8 element on a 40 ft boom.
