You all seem a bit confused, my name is Kevin Powell, and I am most definately the bass player on the tube clips, and very proud to have worked with Midge, he is a lovely guy.I did his solo tour to promote THE GIFT. I also played on "Call of the wild" I agree I am no substitute for Mick Karn on this, but he is one of a kind.
If you are curious, the most recent thing I did was the Steve Coogan tour at the end of last year.

KEVIN...YOU did perform well on the :gift: tour. Saw you in SF with a few of my friends. Still have some photos somewhere. The comparison to Mick's original srtudio performance is unfair as you are not Mick! (people got to let it go!), I have a funny story from that tour. my ex-gf was living in los angeles for a time, and her and her cousin chased the limo down from performance hall to your hotel. As the bad got out, she asked around..."which one's midge?" you went up to her and said.."i'm the bass player!." That line didn't work, and she got Midge's auto and a picture of the two together for me where she conveniently trimmed herself out so all i had was midge. that was basically the end of us. but what a small story and even better memory! cheers!

Kevin...you did a quite brilliant job on this. Saw you with smudge in SF for the gift tour. The next day or so you guys performed in LA, and my girlfriend at the time chased the entourage to where the band was staying so she could get me smudge's autograph..and she didn't know who midge was so she asked, which one of you is midge? you came over and said.."i'm the bass player." epic. that's a story i've never told before and that was...37 years ago.

Looks like a TV recording. It was a great time to see such high-level gigs on TV. Great gig! Lovely Midge and Ultravox! ❤️❤️❤️

I think perhaps this was shot in the beginning of 1986. Midge got married to Annabel Giles on Dec 30 1985 which explains his wedding ring. Phil Lynott died Jan 6 1986 which perhaps is the reason Midge dedicates the whole set to him.

I Love this song! What a commentary on those who pose as rock stars with the latest fashion but no depth or talent behind them!

Great playing Kevin! You have your own distinctive voice on the bass. I saw you with Midge on The Gift tour and was hugely impressed with your interpretations. High quality player mate, ignore the ignoramuses!!

Hey kev, your fretless bass sounds good to me. I was lucky enough to have mine made by the late great Ian Waller (wal) in 1985, is that a steinburg that you are playing?

Great playing Kev. Looks like an old Steinberger L2 you're playing, but its never on long enough for me to tell.
it doesnt look like a steinberger logo.

What a disgrace! The other filmed vid shows more of Mick Karn's antics. This one is just a weak brew, as far as tea goes! Never thought Mick would agree to this clip.
