Made the whole audience laugh? Made me laugh. Did the audience feel like they were part of the performance? She was tender. The most important thing is that the audience liked it back then, not everyone likes Mimes, clowns also only entertain children and adults don't like them. If Rob doesn't like Mimes, you won't be able to convince him.

On the Polish Cabaret Stage, a mime from France performed a few years ago. And while it was clear that he was very talented, his performance didn't entertain me at all, I didn't find it funny and I didn't really understand what he was trying to show.
Although Ireneusz Krosny has not achieved international fame, he has performed in many countries in Europe, Asia and America.
In one interview, Ireneusz Krosny said that when performing in other countries, he has to adapt the performance to the culture of the country. He said he had to use different gestures, facial expressions and behavior patterns so that audiences in the country could understand him.
You watched his performance for a Polish audience. You don't know Polish culture, mentality or behavioral models well. It was clear from your reaction that you put a lot of effort into trying to understand what was so funny and interesting about the show. What was immediately understandable to the average Pole, you were baffled by. The show was built on non-verbal messages. And non-verbal communication is not only body language, facial expressions, but also elements related to the environment, that is, in the case of a live performance, related to the audience.
It was a show for Polish people, and you are English. And as you can see, you don't understand the Polish people very much yet? But do you even try to understand...?

What I don't get is how you have some wonderful reactions to a lot of stuff, you make more or less thorough research and it's sucha a pleasure to watch it I watch some of it multiple times and can't get enough of your comments.
And then I see a video like this or like about Polish Anthem, full of ignorance where you didn't even bother to read anything about the subject. I'm very disappointed because I expected so much more and I was really happy seeing you made a video reaction to one of the best sketches I've seen.

Sometimes scetch can be simple but funny and you really need to pay attention to all his movment becouse he plan all of it, so if you don't you can miss a joke :) . Plus one thing to be mindfull some recordings are part of bigger show so this also affect that not all part hard-core laughs.

I wouldn't generalize this way. I don't think this is a cultular difference between countries. I saw Ireneusz doing that skit to a french audience and they were all lauging and clapping as well. In my opinion it may be related to something called "reduced attention span" ("gen Z" research shows that some representatives only have couple of seconds of it).

A conductor keeps things in order - he encourages the musicians to follow some interpretation of the piece, if anyone gets lost, he shows the rhythm, and there are many more things that a conductor does, e.g., he conducts rehearsals - someone has to... I am a conductor so at the first glance this role might be considered unnecessary but it is necessary.

You can find more but shortly: a conductor is responsible for the pace of whole orchestra (or quartet) or choir so he also makes sure everybody is synced, he decides about the interpretation and dynamics (how loud or quiet they play) and might even suggest change of technique (of course that suggestion happens during rehearsal, not suddenly in live performance but still it's shown by the conductor).
That's why there are many famous conductors that people fight for tickets to their concerts to experience the performance :)

It turns out that there are two sketches titled "Dyrygent" ("The Conductor") and the one above is rather average/weak. To find the great one (IMO), you need to search for: "Grupa MoCarta DYRYGENT" - it is on the "grupamocarta" channel, lasts 5:54. The skit is of poorer technical quality.
"Grupa MoCarta" is the old name of the quartet "MozART group", btw the old name is a linguistic play on words - "grupa mo carta" is in other words "the group has a devil" said in some rural dialect (mo = ma (has); cart = czart = diabeł (devil)).

But I appreciate your reaction, not everyone likes mimes :D Thanks for the video I could finally rewatch it after such a long time! ❤

I can't believe that you don't know what a conductor does :) Anyway, this conductor conducts literally everything :) In Poland we say that someone "conducts others"" or "conducts everything", and it is witty, as an idiom, and at the same time a pejorative term for a person, who wants too much to control everyone and everything, gives orders, and wants everything to be the way he wants it. I think that the audience from the very beginning caught all the jokes related to the conductor understood much more broadly than simply the funny orchestra conductor.

"The Conductor" was made for stage audience, as you can see by the laughter. It's not really good you saw this before any other of their skits, which actually do show their talent. I think you should try to give Krosny with Mozart Group another chance. Try the "Gramophone" ("Gramofon") or the "Burglary" ("Włamanie"). The "Gramophone" might be slow in the beginning, but later on it speeds up 🙂 The "Burglary" is, no shocker, about suspence, and they are doing it really well. There's also another "concert" type of skit, but with an added value of it taking place after New Year's Eve, but maybe save that one for the end 🙃

Mimes are not for you and that's it. Nothing wrong with that.
As for the gag/sketch at beginning, it's all about the fact that one of the players was his favorite, and he disliked the other and gave him the least "applause".
As for the conductor and what he does - it's pretty funny, because of him that there is emotion in the music. Because what if the notes exist, as they only convey tones. A conductor guides the orchestra by interpreting the score, ensuring cohesive timing, dynamics, and expression among the musicians. They provide visual cues for tempo, entrances, and changes in the music, facilitating synchronization. The conductor's deep understanding of the music helps bring out the intended emotional and technical nuances. Their presence unifies the ensemble, allowing for a more precise and expressive performance.

    @qraman 6 днів тому

I fully agree with you Rob, this one is not very entertaining. Actually, in my opinion most performances by Polish comedians are pretty simple - they are based around some basic concept and not very creative. The best example of that is the infamous "chłop przebrany za babę" (man dressed as a woman) trope - it's overused and usually consists of just some generic stereotypical jokes about women. But you can't really argue about the method, because they are very popular and beloved by a wider audience. And to be fair, basically every comedian has more creative and truly hilarious skits- I remember some performances of Ireneusz Krosny during which i was giggling uncontrollably.

I'm with you, Rob. While I can't deny Mr. Krosny's skill in pantomime (he has some genuinely impressive skits), he's never really done it for me either. At best I chuckle at one moment in the whole sketch (like the elevator in the knight one you reacted to earlier), at worst I fall asleep.
But to each their own. Personally I really like KMN and AMM and I know a lot of people even in my direct circles who can't stand their styles. Heck, even Monty Python has haters which is something I'll never comprehend. That's the beauty of comedy, though. There's something for everyone there if you just look for it. No point forcing yourself to watch something you don't personally enjoy.
Also, I appreciate your honesty, while it can give you some heat in the comments (as I'm already witnessing), you're at least frank with your viewers even if your opinion isn't the most popular one. There's all too many youtubers that bent backwards against their true selves just to keep the audience happy at all times and then everyone's so surprised when once in the blue moon the creator shares their real thoughts on something.
So, yeah, stick to the cabarets that make YOU laugh. Everyone shall have a good time with the video then. After all, a reaction video to a certain cabaret tends to predominantly grab the attention of said cabaret's biggest fans above anyone else.

Trust me Rob i like your job but These cabarets haven't made us laugh for a long time in Poland, they're boring🤮. GM and Krosny could have been funny 20 years ago. Now it sucks. GM hasn't made us laugh for a long time, so don't bother reacting to it. These cabarets are not timeless like KMM or AMM and many other really serious and noteworthy ones. You won't have coverage on these cabarets because no one has watched it for a long time

If you want to do some crowd work and inspire people to work with you, you need to do a little weird shit to archive it. But still, Krosny or MozART group are not the top of polish comedy. They make very... hmm... special kind of comedy. MozART group has no competitor as well as Krosny. But if you find "Pan Li" drunk illusionist / magician it can make you laugh for a long time. Unfortunately I don't know if there is video with subtitles.

People are talking about sone differences between cultures, but I don't think that's the point. I'm polish and I don't find that performance funny either. Yes, the audience is laughing, because the whole point of this is the interaction with them. It's just not funny when you watch it instead of taking part in a performance by clapping with them.

      I enjoyed the show.
But one likes it when gypsies play music for him, and another likes it when his socks stink.
It's a matter of taste, and tastes are said not to be discussed.
But as Krzysztof Zanussi said - "It doesn't mean that everyone's taste is equally good, but rather that you either have taste or you don't have it. If one has no taste, there is nothing to discuss."
