I am a bit lost for positives here. I simply cannot imagine where such a setting would be appropriate. The whole thing is a massive overkill. The individual weight of each component required an overhead Crane and a Forklift to assemble it. God help anyone installing it inside a building! I admire the skill of the workers considering they mostly used basic power tools, but that bench saw, the lack of any safety guards, OHS, sandals and bare feet, saw dust covering the floor and varnish vapour in the air freaked my sense of judgement out!
@@jerrysolomon that’s exactly what I saw too. Blew some off with air then sprayed it? Would love to know the price in dollars probably could sell it by the pound.
It's a matter of culture and taste. Asians, well to do Chinese will pay dearly for a piece that will last thousands of years. I've seen similar chair like the one seen here made with ebony (Africa Iron Wood), which is the rarest of the rare. Most Western household normally will not fit this type nor match their decor. They have no idea how big some of those Chinese mansion is. My Grandfather used to sit on one those and smoke his water pipe! It hurts my butt just thinking of sitting on one of those for hours without cushions.
They could have made ten beautiful pieces of furniture out of that high quality piece of wood. Instead, we have an inelegant, impractical, unmovable, and frankly, ugly chunk of unthinkable waste that no one would want to sit on. "Woodworking Technology" couldn't be more of a misnomer.
The really amazing part about this whole video is that these guys still have all their fingers... None of their machines have any guards on them, and they are (IMO) putting their hands and fingers WAY too close to the saw blade and the planer... WHEW, more balls than I got...
I believe the wood they are using is teak which contains a large amount of natural oils and doesn't dry to the point where it cracks. It used to be the most sought after timber for planking boats until it was priced out of reach of all but the elite rich.

Never have seen so many weird and dangerous procedures result in such a beautiful end product. The true magic of wood comes through in spite of all the sawdust. Thanks for sharing.
Never have I seen such an enormous waste of a precious resource. There are many different ways to maximize the amount of timber and still end up with exactly the same design. As well as the potential for creating many more like this from the one log plus being much lighter..
the perfect materials & good woods but you can do more smoot job , do mach the wood patern ,after finifh ,all the nail shows around .wish the best for you guys .
Wow, sanding and clear finishing right next to each other, and it worked. No OSHA there, if more time was taken on light cleaning and sanding in the final clear coat stage the end result would have been stunning, it still looks pretty darn good.
At the beginning, That’s a big piece of Mahogany, used because it’s easy to work with , easy to sand , almost like a softwood.. Many guitars are made from this would because it’s open pores and rich look .

If there 's an order for this table. I guaranteed they won't have problem making the delivery. Local delivery or containerize for international shipment, it can be done.
Drives me crazy to watch the lack of precision, sawdust everywhere with a complete lack of cleaning and proper surface prep. Not to mention complete lack of safety. Yikes.
There working like a carpenter, a craftsman in woodworking would never do what they do . They could section off an area. To do finishing ...instead of spraying a piece while the guy next to him is sanding ..
They do have priority making good shoes in these countries. All of them are shipped to countries like yours for a high profit. They make them for $20 and sells it for $150, but wear $2 flip flops themselves. Look at the teamwork performance, everyone knows exactly what to do next, as a team. In the US, they would need steel toe shoes, helmets, and gloves. That being said, you will see one guy will have a cup of coffee in one hand, another will be munching on a donut or sandwich. One of them is probably the foreman, two shop supervisors, two craftsmen, all on their cellphone, while one or two journeymen actually doing the work. I saw the exact thing happen locally where the contractor were replacing the drainage pipes on less than a quarter mile of the road. It took them two years to complete.
This person who commissioned this is very materialistic, because of the price of this wood, its telling people how wealthy he is , Personally I don't like the end result , think there could be better bits made from the wood, wasteful

Am I wrong or did they even finish it with the sawdust still on it? Kind of an extravagant waste of a glorious tree.

you clearly have never worked with wood or appreciate the beauty of a piece like this. that table will last 1000 years.

Wow with that much wood they could have made 4 sofas and 4 tables.

that’s amazing good job, they still get ten fingers
I don't know the properties of this wood, but wood or timbers with this much mass usually end up with large checks and cracks as the wood dries out.
I believe the wood they are using is teak which contains a large amount of natural oils and doesn't dry to the point where it cracks. It used to be the most sought after timber for planking boats until it was priced out of reach of all but the elite rich.
it Will look good for awhile but your right it will crack and warp ,wood need to be dried properly, 6-8 % moisture..
Wise and judicious use of trees are very important.

I felt like putting on a mask while watching this! Can't help but feel it is a gross waste of scarce wood.

Not to mention having a 6" footing underneath for support. 😂

Too “solid” for these futures, it is not necessary, an elephant can sit on it, it doesn’t look good either, in my opinion.
What would something like that cost in US dollars omg
Table and bench are beautiful. Now how do you move it to someones home?
The guy leaning on the small bits on the giant band saw freaked me out

Excellent video, gorgeous furniture, but there's a problem: how do you deliver such a thing?
It would be great to see that L shaped monstrosity transported to its eventual destination. Cultural differences dictates different opinions, however!
No change here. Africa still provides raw materials while Asia manufactures.....
What a total waste of wood!! Breaks my heart they didn’t turn it into veneer, that log could of been thousands pieces of furniture.
or it could be one timeless classic table that will last for thousands of years and can still be milled in half if you so desire.
Is this strong enough to hold my bowl of Raisin Bran and glass of orange juice?

Pretty ridiculous waste of a huge beautiful tree.
Муравьи для Гуливера. И что это за дерево, наверное красное.
How much does it weigh? Can one person rearrange this furniture when it is inside a house?
Nice wood, good craftsmen, excellent show piece furniture. Thanks for video
I appreciate the skills involved, but the design is way to heavy for my taste and requires more man time and equipment to build.
GREAT skill, but they don't know how much wood dust is toxic!

There is good Skill and Hard Work but this is Just Wastage of Costly Material.
Excellent but what's the cost.

A real wastage of such old and very expensive wood. Its not simple, its really very ugly and makes no sense and explain nothing but only shame.

Curious to know what is being sprayed ? Lacquer? Or what is it ?
what a waste. ! five tables and sofa sets could have been made out of these....
i bet this table lasts hundreds of years longer than the 5 tables you could have made.
There's a lot more trees out there to make your cheap stuff out of.
terrible waste of fine wood .... its a crime
And all for just fifty dollars.

Awful in so many ways.
What a shame to use such wonderful lumber so waste fully.😢
