Just brought my first Gas Gas it’s a 300ec 2012 model also. It has 89 hours on the motor hasn’t had any rebuilds but it looks like a clean bike starts first kick. What does everyone suggest to get the top end done?
I went like 6,000 miles for the first one and then that was it, sold it with 18,000 miles total on the bike...it needed one by then the buddy said I sold it too. Bike just worked.
@@Meekerextreme wow 6000 miles that’s a long time I think mine has done 620miles at the moment. I have heard these things are very strong as long as you run the fuel to oil a little rich, and do the service regularly. Also apparently the original piston lasts the longest once that’s changed it more of a regular rebuild 😃 Going for my first ride next weekend, can’t wait
Yeah the older GasGas's were great bikes. I never had a real issue with mine. Mine always was running rich even with the smartcarb but I didn't mind the spooge
I used AMSOil for years but got tired of having a membership so I just use Rotella in fact yesterday I changed the oil and put in Rotella...LOL To each their own, for 2-Stroke mix I am using up my AMSOil supply and switching to Lucas, price was good on Amazon for a Gallon and it's also known as a good oil company. Honestly any good engine oil without friction modifiers or good 2-stroke mix will be fine. Some people I know run Walmart stuff and don't have issues...I have never went that far to save a buck.
Thanks, I figured it out, I removed the wrong bolt. Just so happened to be where a drain plug would be and also 6mm Allen. The actual one was totally covered by dirt
I run the Synthetic (Blue Container 5w-40) of Rotella now. I was using AMSOil but stopped. Just easier to get Rotella and it has never left me down in my other vehicles. You could run the Silver Rotella Container which is a heavier weight (I forget what it is 10w something)

Thanks for the video! I own this bike now, it's still running strong!
Awesome, come out for a ride sometime

Just got a 2012 EC300 and I’m just trying to figure out the best oil to use for it

Hey I just got a 99 300, the oil fill and drain are basically the same. However the oil is not draining. Any thoughts?
No oil in it? It's pretty basic just a hole in the case to allow oil to drain out, I guess next step is to remove clutch cover and take a peak.

That is funny...lol
Thanks for the video. Can you tell me the size of the filler plug? is it the same size as the drain plug (M12 x 1.5)??? Thanks again.
Not sure but good question. It sure looks the same size just with a magnetic end on it.
Does anybody know hw much gearbox oil for ec 250 (2005).cheers
So are you supposed to run synthetic and it recomends 10w-30 what are your thoughts?

900cc or mm
900cc
I put 1 quart
Is that too much
Probably close enough, I just follow the manual.
