A bunch of Nepalese entrepreneurs featured in the reality tv show Shark Tank came up with the idea to sell these as "organic dog food" in the USA and apparently they're making millions in profit!
The people in the Himalayas sure knew their sh**. The little piece u r carrying in your hand is equivalent to a large glass of Yak milk. (yak milk being 4 times richer and nutritious than cow's and 2 times as much of the same of Buffalo milk) all the fats, proteins and all the good stuff made into dry, light and easy to carry pieces... through their long hard journeys over very harsh terrain, and treacherous conditions, they stayed strong and we'll nourished with these Churpies.
can't believe these things cost 5 rupees now! It used to cost a rupee until jan 2013 lol. Everything is getting so expensive in Nepal Edit: Considering prices are going up for everything, it makes sense though. Idk if I can get anything in a rupee nowadays.
When I was a kid I used to buy these for 2rs (INR) and the shopkeepers would count and give it wrapped in a paper... but now these come in plastic packets 10 for Rs50
Hahaha nice one. We call it churpi ( xurpi) as well. Nathan I am from Pokhara. Never thought someone might mAke video on NepLi cheese. You did and I loved it bro.
Yeah, we have it quite a lot, we used to make it ourselves in Canada too before we came. Now got no fridge so usually just buy it. Delicious either way!
Have you guys tried the Tibetan one, the one which comes in hanging in strings, and is covered with a white coating. Its usually softer and has a milky flavor..
It's almost tasteless at first and also very hard. But you've got to have that patience to let it remain in your mouth when it gradually becomes softer giving out a rich taste.
+Sandesh Mishra That's funny. We had seen that people feed them to their dogs. Here they're 5 rupees each, for humans...Himalayan human treats... I'm sure they're good for keeping dogs gums and teeth healthy.
I also give some to my dogs but they are different from the one you are consuming. As you all know you shouldnt give much fat products to dogs but in the churpi/durkha that are made for dogs, the fats are first extracted then dried. You can consume those but those are tasteless while the one he is consuming isnt.
Maybe that's what they call it in Hetauda bcos that's where they stayed u sud watch their documentary " living on 1 $ a day" We call titaura mada here in Pokhara so I assumed maybe people in hetauda call chhurpi Dhurpa
I love to eat cheese (Churpi ) it doesn't take 2 hour to break sir but it so hard and u can't get it in Walmart or fiesta market but u can get it in Indian market sabzi Mandi in America and thank you for sharing about it.🇳🇵

Chura is much better than candies n chewing gum, cause it stays in mouth for at least 20 min. If u want to have more Chura then try it there r 2 more kinds of Chura 1 is hard n little bit sweet in taste but, it’s not similar like rock hard cheese. The 2 one is so sweet in taste n it’s tasty 😋 also. U can not get these Churas in Indian shops u have to go in Tibetans shops n then ask for it. If u r eating Chura b careful with ur teeth.i can eat Chura so easily cause I do eat Chura so much cause I love them n i really love all the 3 kind of Churas, its so 😋yummy.
this one is good when u are alone or feel bore. just like a time pass. its really very nice when chew slowly n juicy of milk. its good especially for addiction who wanna quit smoking or something else. its really wow. but for unknown people its like a biting bone as like a dog,coz of hard.

It's not durkha, it's durukho, means solidified milk, it's a local newari term ('duru' meaning milk, kho means solid chunk) , chhurpi as nepali name, and cheese in english.
We have since learned that there are different styles of churpi, some take five minutes to eat, and the real hard ones can take most of the day. But you have to gnaw on it to help it break down but don’t bite it.
place it in between your molar teeth and keep rubbing it with your lower jaw teeth, till it becomes slim enough to bite into and chew nicely... ENJOY!!
+The Ticket to Travel Well, its available in different tastes spicy, salty, sweet and sour. Its made up of dried mangoes and specially hog plum. You can easily find those on any shops. Oh i can see the influence of Nepali cultures
Lol! It is called “chhurpi” in Nepal. U can chew and eat it tho... it doesn’t take hours to eat them. Just takes few minutes. Famous in Nepal.
I saw Churpi in one of the pet store in Calgary, they called it Himalayan dog treat or Himalayan Chews. And they are very expensive.
