Goldberg had a decent 5 year run in the business.
People need to stop exaggerating his career thinking he spent 25 to 15 years in the business. Add up all the little 3 months stints that he did and combined them and you barely get 5 years in the business. His WCW run was the longest consecutive amount of time he ever spent in the business. That was from 96 to 2001. That was your four years. The rest of his career you get about 3 or 4 years making it about 7 tops. And that's being generous because you usually only see him for about 3 or 4 matches in a program. Other than his first return against the Rock he never worked house shows And I bet you he barely did it back then.
Hogan, Flair, Taker, etc those guys did a legitimate 30 years. They ran the circuit

Say what you want about Goldberg, but there is something about a minimalist style wrestling set. And to have not 1 but 2 different finishing moves. And you could land just 1 or both of them back to back is such a neat concept.
In real fighting, there are guys that are seemingly one trick ponys and have a finite amount of moves, and they go in their and dominate everybody for a long time, and have quick and efficient fights and finishes. Goldberg was suppose to represent that in Wrestling. Thats not what the heart of wrestling is about, maintaining the gimmick of "im the best no one can beat me, watch be rough and not technical have the shortest match ever and win over and over again without variation" I mean I get that critique on Goldberg. But, there was an element of realism that he was suppose to represent.

I was a huge Warrior fan. the way the crowd erupted during his entrance and every time he won was deafening. nobody remained seated. once Goldberg got the streak going the crowd response was Warrior
level of not bigger. flash forward, I don't think he should've beat Brock in 15secs when he came back.
I also know it wasn't Goldberg's idea. plus regardless of who he is he didn't have that kind of stroke to
    get that.

@@paulo.dos.santos073 Roll your eyes somewhere else, please.
Goldberg took a move that some guys had already been using for years and made it more impactful and explosive, becoming a crowd pleasing finisher in the process.
Gus Sonnenberg may not be remembered much these days, but he was a big deal during his time at the top. The formation of the original NWA (National Wrestling Association) was done in part to him wrestling the same opponent using different names as they went around the country, along with the goal of regulating the business as a whole and settle disputes over who was really the World Champion.
The version of the spear that Gus introduced almost a century ago would likely not hold up against Ernie Ladd or Walter Johnson's spears, just like those spears would pale in comparison to those from the likes of Goldberg, Rhyno, Edge, Moose, Roman, and others.

It's really a letdown listening to him here and telling how great of a mind he has for the business, yet he was a reckless performer and sometimes just generally awful.
Goldberg had everything, dammit if only he was a proper and a safe worker...

@@shyl9311 His so-called recklessness is greatly exaggerated by people like you, it's not like he injured everyone he faced, otherwise he wouldn't have lasted a full week in WCW (or at the Power Plant). If you're still upset about the Bret thing well it sucks but it was an accident, it happens, and let's not forget that Bret wrestled a number of matches after Starrcade (including a hardcore match with Terry Funk), just saying. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@mrdeetJ you cannot tell me he was a good wrestler. Dude would have a 5 minute match and be pushed to his absolute limits and that involved him doing nothing but slamming his head into the locker room door and spearing a turnbuckle. He was good for business… but awful wrestler. Same with hogan.
