Hi, snow, rain, wind, fog and freezing temp's all in the same day, springtime in Nova Scotia, can’t complain though, that storm was worse farther north. Last night I heard the spring peepers for the first time this year. 🐸Kitchen tables are great for planting seeds!

I'm starting a lot of seeds using this method myself. I didn't do it with my tomatoes and most came up within a week but my plum tomatoes did not yet so now I'm wondering about them. I've been mostly bottom watering lately and I think that is a better watering method. It helps the roots grow deep to reach the water while the surface stays drier if you want to give that a try. Thanks and good luck with your leggy radicles.

Even my leggy seedlings i will just bury all the way to the first true leaves upon up-potting, if i need to get them to straighten out. I actually need to start my peppers and tomatoes today.

One things that seems to be forgotten:
Wash your hands well before doing the baggy seed method. Years I wondered why I was losing seeds with the paper towel method or transplanting sprouted seedlings: it was just yuck from my hands touching the doorknob, kitchen sink faucet. The once a week cleaning routine doesn't get everything and that can inhibit the germination.
    Who wudda thunk

I did the baggy method for some tiny perennial flower seeds that got too far along too seperate from the paper towel. I put the wet paper towel on top of potting soil with a thin layer of professional seed starting mix and the the roots have found their way! I have baby flowers, sofar so good!i

Greg, I’m doing the baggie method, and I’m having great success with peppers and tomatoes. However, with eggplants, I get less than 50% germination, and when I put the germinated seed into the soil, about 1% come up as plants. This is my first year planting eggplant. I guess I still have a lot to learn about eggplant.

maybe you're planting too deep or too shallow? Mine worked out fine last year - so stay with it - I'm sure it's just some little thing.

Appreciate your videos Greg. I also live in a Maritime climate. I envy your garden and simple techniques to manage and harvest it. I just need a way to deerproof my yard before I can scale up! In the meantime, I grow 25 heads of lettuce (red sail) and about 5 cherry tomato plants (sungolds) because we eat a ton of them.
