      I love the fact that Kimberley keeps things real. It's so important to know the good and bad. To report things through rose tinted glasses is not helpful or fair to others. I admire how Kimberly is coping with several moves and two kids. I personally think a medal is in order!!! Love x

    we used to catch them as kids ,look for shells, climb the tree and find them and stick them in a box and take them to school. You will hear them in the evening , deafening.

    My family and I came to Australia, way back in 1965 (I was aged 5). Australia was a very different place way back then, but life and opportunities were good. In regards to home sickness its a very real thing and hard to manage at times. Hang in there because life does improve and these days family and friends are much closer in many ways thanks to the internet. Over the past decades our family has grown and thrived, we often look back to the early days and are thankful that we chewed through the tough times and enjoyed the good times. Hope this comment helps you and your family on your new life over here. All the best.Thanks Mark

      This helps so much yes, i am so determined to get through this rough part as i know Australia has so much more to offer my kids growing up. And its a lovely place to live! We just need to tweak some things and hopefully when PR comes, things will ease up! Thank you for your kind comment :)

    Those shells ain't disgusting as they are just out shells of the cicadas. What's disgusting about them when there are a lot of them in trees and you walk underneath them it ain't water droplets you feel it's them peeing. It's not a common thing but it does happen sometimes. No big deal as you won't smell or anything from it. Just a few little droplets.

    Currently in the visa process and seeing so many people say how homesick they are, I know this is bound to happen sometimes but it’s scary! Are we always just thinking the grass is greener somewhere else when in the UK 😩 Hope you feel settled soon thank you for being honest! X

    • @kimberleylucas
      @kimberleylucas  5 місяців тому +2

      For me it's family. (And B&M!😅) if my family were here I'd NEVER consider moving back to the UK. Lifestyle is so much better here, people are more friendlier/positive. Opportunities for kids are endless and the weather is just amazing. It's normal to feel homesick as everything is different and you are starting again but some things are just harder than others. Especially with 2 young children - it's hard them not being around grandparents ❤

    • @vickyoliver4236
      @vickyoliver4236 5 місяців тому +1

      @@kimberleylucas yes I can imagine! We’re coming with 2 young children too and I already feel very guilty so can’t imagine how it will be when it comes to leaving and when we’re there. But then on the flip side I often feel guilty to my kids here when they’re stuck inside with not a lot to do other than the usual soft play etc! Do you think if you came back for a holiday you might fill your cup of seeing family? (And maybe be reminded even more of why you moved) 😂 x

    Well, we do work hard out here regardless of the lifestyle .Employers will use their workforce for overtime because it is cheaper than hiring someone else to do that work. My background is in the metal trades /Insulation Industry and I part owned the company .We always used our existing workforce for overtime because of that reason. Our workers always had huge overtime returns and would actually get annoyed if we did not work them on Saturdays and Sundays because it pays the bills .

      Whilst I would LOVE to agree with this, unfortunately this is not the case for us. My husband doesn't get any over time for working weekends, or the 10 hours he works extra per week. Do we agree with this? No, but always told its the 'norm' over here and despite it being the absolute opposite of what's in his contract, we are also desperate for PR. I'm hoping you can now understand my frustration and disappointment 😞

      @@kimberleylucasas an engineer who lives in tuggerah also on a 482 I get paid overtime from 7.6hrs a day onwards, time and a half for the first 2hours and double time after that, also double time on Saturday and Sunday. So if he’s working over his standard 38hrs for nothing then they are taking advantage of him.
      If you happy for me to chat to euan about it I can, I was the guy who asked you to do a video from the his point of view a while back which you then did

    Hey Kimberley, we are also a UK family and we live across the road from Westfield tuggerah!
    With all the work Euan is doing, is he working longer hours and weekends to help save money for future house buying or because it’s expected he works above his normal hours(just with you mentioning all this is unexpected) thanks

    • @kimberleylucas
      @kimberleylucas  5 місяців тому +2

      Hello, sorry I never replied to your last comment - just catching up today. Please feel free to add me on instagram and you can find euan that way, I'm sure he would be happy to talk it through. Long and short he works an extra 2 hours per day over and above his contracted hours for absolutely nothing in return, it kills me as it totals to 1 week extra per month. He works for a tier 1 company and apparently they are known for this. He doesn't get any over time at weekends just a day in lieu which I think is shocking. But it's the standard hours he does that affects us as a family. Hope that answers this :)
