Small suggestion for very sticky liquids, maybe have particles that become "stuck to the wall" like paint just stop simulating? Maybe like a "How quickly does this liquid dry in place" number would make that configurable too, so if you want to do realistic paint splats you can use an insane amount of particles that stop simulating on impact. They'd still affect the buffer so the material would be a million times better than just a ton of decals :D
my god, just when i start thinking "okay theres no way hes gonna make this look any better", you come through and make it EVEN BETTER. major props, man
@@mrrooter601I haven't looked at the code and am thus talking out of my ass, but I believe it's safe to assume the overhead comes from the computations being performed on the lua side. Afaik, GMod doesn't use LuaJIT, so there's definitely lost efficiency when large datasets are being operated upon.

@@dingo-gorditas Seems like it, yeah. Or possibly it's just that I never noticed it before, but it really feels like a uniform body of liquid. Most such projects end up looking like separate particles and nothing more. Including the really old GWater, but this is just insane.
looks really good! if it's possible you should record/render your vids in a higher bitrate, something like 20mb/s for 1080p. would make it look a lot clearer on the upload!
I think it's simply youtube compression, tiny details like this get obliterated no matter what rendering quality you have, take confetti for an example
if you would have normal 1080p recording, it wouldnt compress it that much. also you can just render that 1080p in 4k through vegas, etc. and then it wouldnt compress it even more. @@woodyTM
Bro, I really must congratulate you, you are the best Gmod coder just by making this addon, you did something that not even entire engines dared to do (or maybe they try but the optimization is terrible) you created the perfect real-time fluid simulation, the truth is I never thought how far someone could go with the Source engine
Gwyneth Paltrow would like to have a word with you about your goop. (in all seriousness, this looks a lot better then I thought possible in gmod, good job.)
So just a few questions. 1) Will there be a way to have two or more particles spawn in the same instance? Basically and I mix slime and water together? Having two or more spawned particle types. 2) Can we set materials to the water? 3) Will there be snow? 4) If yes to snow, will there be blizzards? And snowfalls in general.
1. Unfortunately no, thats a FleX limitation, but you will be able to create multiple simulations at the same time (they just won't interact) 2. *Technically* yes, but not in the way you expect 3. Maybe? depends if I have time to develop it 4. ^
I wonder if this mod will lead to people legitimately using gmod for small scale projects to get an easy water simulation. I've already seen gmod actually used in VFX several times, so that'd be cool.
