As overhyped as it is, I think this definitely exceeded everyone’s ex-pec-ta-tiooooons. Really though, from the preview I thought it sounded pretty good but now after a couple of listens on the full track, I’m already humming to the vocals and love how Grant absolutely nailed the atmosphere and the drops. McCall’s vocals are so angelic to hear in it too. Safe to say that this is my second favorite Grant track behind Wake Up

Ok so, I've been watching this video on repeat for the past three weeks, must've watched it like 30 times. Simply brilliant. I prophesized it in the comments of the video of Grant from Dreamhack and I'll prophesize it here: he's next in line of the great innovative producers i.e. Deadmau5, Skrillex, Porter Robinson. He's got that kind of talent for sure. I'd like to talk about the video though. I, like others that have commented, had no idea what was going on. Thought after a few watches it would sink in - it didn't (lol) - then I started seeking answers in the comments....really didn't help much at all. So I finally paid REAL close attention to everything that's happening and I'm pretty sure I've cracked this code. The thing that kept tripping me up was the look of the guy's face at the end: he looks listless, uncaring, maybe like he was a bit concerned or expecting something, but overall very "meh". Definitely not what you would expect from all the events leading up to that moment. To me, it had that "it was all a dream" feel to it with him staring at the empty lot and just casually walking away...and that's exactly what it all was. My evidence lies in this: every time the lyric "daydream" is sung, it cuts to her on the planet or the wasteland in space or wherever the fuck she is, they never say, further adding to the ambiguous nature of the video. The only thing I can pick out is she shows him something with the binoculars early in the video and that could be a "this is where I'm going" moment. Still, it's pretty unclear the details of her mission with whomever it is she gains space access through. Anyways, my theory is that wasteland planet or whatever is just a dream. Scroll to 1:05, 2:31 and 3:29 to see where the "daydream" lyric is sung. Furthermore, you never see either of the characters interact with anyone else in the entire video. It's only them. SHE is just a dream. She is a figment of his imagination. Also, the drawings are of obvious significance because he's doing that whole "drawing things to life" thing that's commonly employed in fiction: He draws their hands together and looks over and sees her for the first time. He draws himself on the truck bed with her walking away into the vast distance, signifying she's leaving, so he runs to the original sketchpad where he drew the hands and draws himself into the scene on the wasteland planet. Then he gets out of that same truck and is like "huh, that was interesting." It all fits. Throw rocks at it please because this is the closest I can get to a conceptual vision that makes somewhat logical sense. Additonally, the Director, Justin Kroma, also did the video for "Constellations" that shares a similar concept where a guy who's still living can commune with a childhood friend who passed away by using a gem that he gave her before she died. Mr. Kroma seems to have an affinity for this type of fantasy. AH! Something else just stuck out! "Wishes" He's literally wishing her into existence. Even though the lyric is "don't have any wishes" it's sung from the female's perspective which they very cleverly point out that the voice correlates to the character by showing Grant singing with McCall but also using her as the same actress as the imaginary lady! Brilliant! Ok, like I said, please throw rocks at this because I don't know if I'm actually onto something or I'm just getting hyped on my own personal interpretation lol. Thanks for reading!

I think you are close, but the girl is very much real. She is depicted as "writing" or drawing her own story and goes where he is not. He then "writes" himself to where she is, perhaps a place they both specifically know, to attempt to rescue. The look he gives at the end is not of wonderment, but of sorrow. You see him hang his head on her unmoving body, typically signifying death.
Also, another possibility is that the singing is a mixtape she gave the guy of herself before leaving, you can hear him listening to it at the end of the video, idk, might not have any significance
After listening to the Wishes ID for so long before, the excitement was huge when Grant announced the release date for Wishes. This masterpiece sounds as amazing as I thought it would be once it is released as the quality is much higher from the ID. Grant never disappoints.
Idk if it's still up on YT (it's not visible in Germany) but if you haven't given Anki's Remix of Chasing Cars a listen, you definitely should. I also recommend M83, especially "Un nouveau soleil". The end of that piece is heaven for my ears.

This song brought me to tears with the nostalgia of Rocket League and how simple life used to be. I just remember going on my Xbox and hopping on Fortnite when it had just come out and not having a care in the world. In 2017 I was dreaming about 2022 but now in 2022 I'm wishing I could relive 2017.
Ok so I made a summary of what I thought was going on during the video using a different account, but I've basically perfected it and am going to share it here: So, the video and song are almost in sync, you can see that when the beat drops for the first time, it cuts to the man running to his car/truck, where it all started. So in theory, the lyrics have more of an impact on the video than just a few lines. Now I wont break it down fully, you can do that for yourself if you really really want, but here's the idea. The guy and girl had seen each other for a while in this garage, doing they're thing, the guy drew and the girl gazed at the stars. Eventually, the girl made a move on the guy, which led to a couple dates, than a short time after said dates, they moved in. It was all jolly until the girl "Teased" the guy, probably about something personal. Then the guy or the girl, dumped the other. The wasteland, it's just the guys imagination. Her dying? Its a symbol of her leaving him, and they're relationship dying. when he tried to get back with her, she was, not there, said no, she was gone, as she was in the wasteland. She possibly could have started going out with whoever grant is supposed to play in the video, but that's just a guess.

Bittersweet of course, but your music always give me this warm sense of safety and hope to keep going. If I am at my absolutely lowest and reminiscing, I can just play this song and no matter how much I miss someone, I can just smile and beat my pride into convincing myself that everything will be fine. Bittersweet of course, but your music always give me this warm sense of safety and hope to keep going. Profoundly enough, I remember a dream just now of parting ways with that person and as the dream and goodbyes were nearly over, I heard THIS song playing in my dream.
