The old timers taught me "can't put a saddle on a dead horse", meaning for those cable clamps, the U-bolt goes against the short cable and the "saddle" against the long. It should be fine on that, I worked on cranes and big stuff so it was more of a concern. Also we'd cut the frayed ends off by using an acetylene torch; it "cauterizes" all the frayed ends together (melting the steel wires together). Now you can use a 4-1/2" grinder with a cutting wheel to cut the frayed end off. A propane torch can get a few wires hot enough to melt them together, cauterizing the wires together. Just some cable tips I learned over the years. :)

In Australia we say every man should have his workshop, in your case the family need it , I get so annoyed at people saying they don’t like the work your doing although I don’t mind that as much as pick on the person I think you are fabulous, the people who write these things need to get out and get a life. Just forget them keep up the dream you are living , and remember for every 1 person who doesn’t like you there’s 1000s that love what you do , good luck and keep safe can someone tell me what was the reasoning behind 15 people with the thumbs down

The garage is coming along fantastically. When you put your garage door opener on make sure you get one with a keypad to put outside. I know you have a man door that goes through but if you're like most people we keep that locked. With that being locked you don't need your keys to get in and out of the garage by using your keypad. That was the best investment I ever did. In my case my garage is so big that even if I left the man door unlocked I would have to walk all that distance just to open my door. Also when you start putting lights up don't use fluorescent bulbs. For recent bulbs absolutely suck in the winter. Most of the time you cannot get them to light up. Your best off with going with nothing but LEDs. I'm in the middle of ordering parts to change all my fluorescent lights over to LEDs. My friends laugh when they come over for me to work on something of theirs or just to hang out in my garage. They Tell me I have enough light to do surgery in my garage. And my garage is truly a man cave I have cable television out there hooked up to a surround sound system.
All that stuff can come later after you finish building your garage. If you can when you run your electric over to your garage try to do it with a trench and not above ground. It looks a lot better and you don't need to worry about branches or anything else hitting your power lines. Everything running to my garage including water and sewage is all underground all the electric is underground and when I added cable TV I ran that underground along with some internet wire. I can now plug a computer in and I also have a telephone out there.
Can't wait to see how you guys finish everything is looking great.
