I love the street view with labeled buildings (places of interest overlays). That's probably one of the most useful things I have seen this phone do that others don't, but it seems to very undersol so far.
My favourite part 3:00 to 3:20. Shows the Optical image stabilization. Look how much this dude is shaking the phone and how the scroon looks. Love you Nokia.
This is good news, thanks! I remember last year when I wanted the Nokia Lumia 900, but it took months to reach the North American market. I'm glad it's one of the first markets this time around.
My Note 2 lasted 10 days. Too many sniggers when I held the thing up to my ear for a call. I had one guy come up to me after I phoned someone, and literally say "Wow, that reminds me of the trigger happy phone sketch". Took it back, got a 920 and loved the offline navigation, jitterfree video, great photos, wireless charging and NFC on my JBL power ups and when I took it to record a gig, the mics blew EVERYTHING i previously had out of the water. Amazing 920.
Agree with you on Apple and had the same decision to make when I had an HTC desire with Android. Took the plunge and got a Nokia Lumia 900 and have to admit it is great. The UI is so smooth and responsive it is unreal and looks like they have bettered it on the 920... the social media integration on the 900 is superb, build quality is excellent and everything just works... looking forward to getting my hands on the 920 when it becomes available.
Man i can"t wait to get this phone on Friday. It has to be hands down one of the best phones on the market right now. And all you people that are saying oh there aren't any apps, that"t just garbage talk.
Actually when Nokia announced the retirement of MeeGo and symbian the engineers of MeeGo created their own company called Jolla and continued its development process. They started off where the N900 left and their first phone is coming out towards the end of 2012 =) looking forward to it
no there are no frame rate issue or whatsoever, i own the htc one s right now and its smooth like butter with no glitch or freeze of any kind. i've own an iphone 4 and windows phone before in the past so i know what i'm saying when i say you over exaggerate the smoothness of iphone and windows phones, when it feel pretty much the same as androids phones. my phone is duo cores by the way.
Yes, it will be available on AT&T. I don't know if it will only be on AT&T, but that specific device was. It has a section in the music for AT&T exclusive music and stations.
I was a dis-liker of Nokia's smartphones but i love Lumia 800, 900 and now 920 . and Ur right bro I want it in India real soon ... no delays should be launched all over the world at the same time
i really hope this phone catches on. if it comes to verizon i would DEFINITELY get one, especially with windows 8 for computers coming out. they go together hand in hand.
nokia and windows have now really made the mobile OS race into a proper three horse race this phone looks really good, i am really considering it as a replacement for my S3
the black verdion looks so cool, love the fact that they are making all different colours but i think i would personally go forbthe grey or black versions. not a fan of the glossy texture the black one seems more matte finish
This phone looks awesome. For anyone that doesn't know and doesn't like the different sizes of the tiles they can all be made one size if that's what you want.
Windows Phone (not Mobile) 8 is mainly a hardware upgrade so you shouldn't be mad, you can't expect to have a faster processor and new screen to magically appear in your old phone. Lumia 900 and other WP7 phones will get the WP7.8 update by the end of this year that will bring the same new homescreen you see in this video.
dude they made an Ad that people though it's shot from the phone which was wrong, but they never actually said that, because the video software on the phone is not published yet (still in development) They published an notification on that, you can watch the other videos on it's camera
I think Nokia is doing a good job with this particular phone. I am an Android fan/user but this looks very very sleek and chique. I like the look of the UI.
I really wish that this would be good. I'm thinking of switching over to this from my GS2. The hardware is just gorgeous and WM looks to be pretty good. Hopefully there'll be enough app support.
I'm definely switching because IOS hasn't change it's looks since 2007 and is quite boring. Windows seems alive with constant updated info for you to glance at and the way your social accounts are link is really nice.
The problem of Nokia marketing: announcing a phone that is not available to consumer for months. When it finally becomes available, pretty much everyone has bought a product from its competitor.
Verizon Wireless confirmed it plans to work with Nokia Corp. a move that is likely to eventually involve selling the Finnish handset maker's line of Windows 8 smartphones.
looks great.. i love windows.. and i was very dissapointed about the fake ad they did.. but everyone does it.. so i will just wait for the jon4lakers's review
No, the Lumia 900 (or any other WP7 device for that matter) will not be upgradable to Windows Phone 8. The Lumia 900 will get one last big upgrade to WP 7.8, which will give you some of the minor features of Windows Phone 8, like changing the tile sizes, but none of the major features. This was due to architectural changes made to the Windows Phone platform to better integrate it with Windows 8 - it will now share the same kernel as the desktop version of Windows.
"the fact that it has the Windows name attached to it is going to be a turn off for a lot of people" So true. It's like this absurd psychological barrier for me. But the phone itself looks very cool and by now it's more original to get a Nokia than another iphone etc.
totally agree with your opinion. as a user of both windows phone (WP7) and iOS, i find iOS more reliable. but gotta admid, windows phone has done a pretty good job with simplifying things into, so you don't have to bother with opening up the application. in fact, i think it works better than android widgets. i think iOS and WP are the most stable mobile OS i have ever seen/used.
At least with the 920 Nokia increased the ppi of the screen making it much higher resolution, on the iP5 though the screen is bigger it has the same ppi as the old Retina display. Not to mention the UI is different from the older WP7 phones.
I have a Nokia Lumia 800 and really love it and equally think this phone is going to be really great, the only thing I don't like so far is that it's made of, like, shiny material compared to the last generation of Lumia which is matte... other than that it looks great!
the Nokia Lumia 920 definitely outshines the iPhone 5. i'd seriously buy it right now, but i really hate how they debuted it to the world without a release date or pricing.
1:00 minute mark, has a nice slip up. "At&t exclusive" channel. This tells us two things. 1. It will definitely be on the at&t network 2. It will not be exlusive to at&t... c'mon VERIZON!!
going from android to windows phones is like going from a smartphone to a candy bar phone from the 90s. if you don't believe me than go to any cellphone stores and check out windows phone and experience going back in time for yourself.
i guess this depends on how aggressive the competition will be, innovation is always the pusher. i wasnt expecting to see wireless charging for a few more years, and for example, google are already in production creating an augmented reality set of glasses, basically a phone built into glasses.
Go for Lumia 920. It's from a company known for quality manufacturing. I have to original Note from AT&T and although I really like it(with CM10 JB), I will be switching to Lumia 920 because of the awesome WP8 interface, slick design, and smaller dimensions overall. The Note and anything bigger for a phone is just way too big and texting and browsing with one hand is tedious. If you have REALLY big hands, go for the Note, no doubt. Otherwise consider Galaxy S3 or the Lumia 920.
Got one word WAOOOO!!!!!!!!! phones like this would make jump from android i used to have the HD7S from at&t and it was a good phone nothing to complaint about it and for what i see on the Lumia 920 Windows Mobile will be a tough competition in the mobile market.
i have to say i love he originality of windows phones. But I just can't see myself switching from the stability, ecosystem, and overall awesomeness of iOS.
it makes me wonder how we'll look back on these amazing devices in 10 years, 5 even, and we'll just think 'ha, i remember one of those' when we have mobile chips built into our brains or something
A very nice, promising phone. Some of them colours you can buy it in are awful, but black looks good. The gloss polycarbonate is questionable however, the matte finish looked much nicer.
Bigger screen, better display, curved glass, pureview tech=better cam, WP8 since the older lumias cannot be upgraded, better specs etc. Lumia 920 is indeed a great upgrade from L900 compared iP4s to iP5. :)
I do :P...sure none of us havent yet tried out Windows Phone 8, but atleast WP7 is quick and easy to use...and I atleast think that the "live" title screens and the look of the interface make if feel like breath of fresh air compared to iOS and Android.
The 8x is pretty much on par with the Nokia Lumia 820 - However, the 920 offers enhanced features over both phones. I'd recommend the 920 if you are looking for a quality phone, with a quality camera, with quality everything else.
This phone looks absolutely fantastic. I would get this over any phone (iPhone or android). I have a galaxy nexus with jellybean and although the experience is great (better than the current ios5 and seemingly better than ios6 if you ask me), wp8 just transcends the typical smartphone experience in both functionality and aesthetics. That partnered with the A+ hardware of Nokia and its added functionality really does make this look like it will be the best device on the market once it's released.
i got the galaxy s3 and I actually find this phone awesome. Seems the windows phones are going to get better hopefully. Do they really let you stream/download whatever music you want from there nokia music?
I'm a Lumia 900 user: I kind of feel betrayed and abandoned. I'd like to know if the lumia 900 is able to upgrade to windows mobile 8. Sucks that im stuck with this phone for another year and a half. :( Feels bad man.
This thing actually looks pretty awesome. Too bad win mo is already on the way out, and it only has wxga resolution. Having said that , I don't think it would be any better with android.
I love the street view with labeled buildings (places of interest overlays). That's probably one of the most useful things I have seen this phone do that others don't, but it seems to very undersol so far.

Love you Nokia.
The best hands on review of this phone till date

Looks amazing, deciding on a color will be hard
iphone 5 you better be good because I am already in love with Lumia. They are gorgeous. Come to India soon
Nokia had really always had good phones, its just when the smartphone era came around, most Nokia's weren't available in the us.
Windows have finally stepped up.. Loving this competition
I'm really liking the design of the phone. yellow looks awesome!
This phone looks awesome. For anyone that doesn't know and doesn't like the different sizes of the tiles they can all be made one size if that's what you want.
Happy to see Nokia is making a comeback
it's extremely fast. I have an entry level windows phone and there's no lag at all, so i imagine this would be incredible.
Windows Phone (not Mobile) 8 is mainly a hardware upgrade so you shouldn't be mad, you can't expect to have a faster processor and new screen to magically appear in your old phone. U must be living under a rock dude....i live in India and Nokia maps never miss a thing!
They get all the apps available in Windows Phone 7 right now and a bunch more will be arriving since there is a high developers interesting in WP8.
I think Nokia is doing a good job with this particular phone. I am an Android fan/user but this looks very very sleek and chique. I like the look of the UI.
I have never been a big fan of closed source operating systems but I have to admit that WP8 is pretty good,at least it's not as restricted as iOS.
Can't wait for windows phone 8!!!!!
I already want this more than any other android device.. Nokia is coming back baby, and big!!!
I really wish that this would be good. I'm thinking of switching over to this from my GS2. The hardware is just gorgeous and WM looks to be pretty good. Hopefully there'll be enough app support.
I really like my Focus Flash and I loved the N9 when I owned one. If WP8 adds a couple of things to 7.5, I won't need iPhone or android.
Jon why do you not have a review for this phone yet?!
Same here iphone 5 is behind, lumia or galaxy s3! But the lumia is very cool, but the big question is the store and the apps
android on 4 cores slows even sometimes, and here at 2 all summer, this optimization baby!
I love the nice build quality of these nokia phones
I was hoping for a thinner and a just a tiny bit bigger screen version of the lumia 800.
Did I just see a Real time Live Tile with Maps and "My Location" @ 2:29 ???? Take my money now!!!!!
Verizon Wireless confirmed it plans to work with Nokia Corp. a move that is likely to eventually involve selling the Finnish handset maker's line of Windows 8 smartphones.
It looks like its on att I'm so happy!!
Its phones like this that really make me want a WP8
"You can see zee inforrmation." I love that accent. xD
looks great.. i love windows.. and i was very dissapointed about the fake ad they did.. but everyone does it.. so i will just wait for the jon4lakers's review

Very nice phone! This is probably the best looking
nokia device to ever come out!

I prefer chrome as well, but in the benchmarks and tests IE10 looks to be as fast if not slightly faster than chrome, so I can live with it.
I love the Lumia phones! more then my iPhone at this point. Im going to wait to see the iphone five, but if it disappoints....im switching
1:01 shows AT&T exclusive - is that a sign that it's headed to AT&T?
the Nokia Lumia 920 definitely outshines the iPhone 5. i'd seriously buy it right now, but i really hate how they debuted it to the world without a release date or pricing.
Nokia needs to launch this phone on every major carrier in the US.
Nok seems to be back on the rise
i like the flexibility and freedom of android's os offer over ios and windows mobile os. android is like a mini laptop in the palm of your hand.
I'm a big lover of Android but view have to say this looks amazing. Once the app store is fuller I may consider changing.
I would like to buy a dumburgaah :
I love those happy colors with the black screen contrast.
Android is my mobile OS of choice, but Windows Phone 8 looks really solid. The phone is beautifully made and looks really nice too.
Lovely phone. Finally I think that Nokia has gotten back on track. Lets hope they can pull some more tricks out there sleeve in the app store ;)
after watching the iphone 5 release blog for 30 minutes ive decided i want this lol
1:00 minute mark, has a nice slip up. "At&t exclusive" channel. This tells us two things.
1. It will definitely be on the at&t network
2. It will not be exlusive to at&t... c'mon VERIZON!!
I was debating buying the iPhone 5 but now this has been announced I'm seriously considering this o_O

Proud to be so close to Finland, I live in Sweden :P. Nokia-3
Looks zing, deciding on a color will be hard
Seems like the Zune Technology has been reincarnated into the phone. Great!
i guess this depends on how aggressive the competition will be, innovation is always the pusher. i wasnt expecting to see wireless charging for a few more years, and for example, google are already in production creating an augmented reality set of glasses, basically a phone built into glasses.

I'm going to get this and it will sit next to my S3 best of both worlds
Got one word WAOOOO!!!!!!!!! phones like this would make jump from android i used to have the HD7S from at&t and it was a good phone nothing to complaint about it and for what i see on the Lumia 920 Windows Mobile will be a tough competition in the mobile market.
Nokia 920 is awesome! going to get this in December YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I'm from Brazil, este aparelho é lindo!
i have to say i love he originality of windows phones. But I just can't see myself switching from the stability, ecosystem, and overall awesomeness of iOS.
it makes me wonder how we'll look back on these amazing devices in 10 years, 5 even, and we'll just think 'ha, i remember one of those' when we have mobile chips built into our brains or something

Lumia 920 is indeed a great upgrade from L900 compared iP4s to iP5. :)
It would look so much nicer without those screws at the bottom.
Things would be interesting if Amazon made their own phone!
nokia pioneered smartphone technology, and windows pioneered the personal operating system , i don't see a better combination than this.
The best at taking credit for the work other people do, that's for sure.
I do :P...sure none of us havent yet tried out Windows Phone 8, but atleast WP7 is quick and easy to use...and I atleast think that the "live" title screens and the look of the interface make if feel like breath of fresh air compared to iOS and Android.
I'm using moto's atrix, totally interested getting a 920
Dude cool, I'm an Apple Fanboy too, waiting for the release of iPhone 5 in India
The 8x is pretty much on par with the Nokia Lumia 820 - However, the 920 offers enhanced features over both phones. I'd recommend the 920 if you are looking for a quality phone, with a quality camera, with quality everything else.

i want this phone soooooo bad! i hope Tmobile USA gets it!
That should have saint (not)handset design in other post there handsets have always been cool
Although lumia 920's new window 8 system is gud, I'm still in love with my HTC One X
"throws it at a wall"
"Breaks the wall"
that in general is considered "software" which is also upgraded.
I Totally agree!
I have already declared this the best phone ever.
i got the galaxy s3 and I actually find this phone awesome. Seems the windows phones are going to get better hopefully. Do they really let you stream/download whatever music you want from there nokia music?
love the design of the 800, not a fan of the OS or the glossy colours they have (matte ones are nice).
Nice review GSP :))
I'm a Lumia 900 user: I kind of feel betrayed and abandoned. I'd like to know if the lumia 900 is able to upgrade to windows mobile 8. Sucks that im stuck with this phone for another year and a half. :( Feels bad man.
I hope this doesnt start lagging and freezing like All of the previous touch screen nokia phones
This thing actually looks pretty awesome. Too bad win mo is already on the way out, and it only has wxga resolution. Having said that , I don't think it would be any better with android.
