For those of you who don't know why we drool over VTEC,
Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) is an engine technology developed by Honda to increase the performance and efficiency of the engine at the same time. It uses 3 or 4 Cam profiles. Basically below 5000 RPM you have a normal petrol engine giving you great mileage, above 5000 RPM you get the surge of Power and the way it delivers power is beyond belief.
Really sad India didn't get the proper Civics with Manual Gears and a turbo. The Si could have been a winner

I don't know why I couldn't enjoy this video in particular, Diesel felt more fun! This car feels much like it's for absolutely relaxed back seat ride. Not a driver oriented engine. I could be wrong, but I could only tell with how much Faisal enjoys the drive, one can easily feel it as they watch his videos

Civic will sell in good numbers not matter if it has CVT gearbox as most of people in India just want the car to be long and good looking and that civic is .
Indians also want a reliable car (Japanese brand) that is the reason why fortuner sells more than endeavour and this will be the case between civic and octavia .
In India nobody except for teenagers will ever launch the civic people like efficient ride and that is being provided with civic
Although I own 8 th gen manual civic and I wanted to upgrade but now I will stick to my old civic

This segment is already dying and now,this half-hearted attempt by Honda!
I do understand that we shouldn't draw conclusions before knowing the prices but of late,Honda is just after downgrading the quality,cost cutting, deletion of features and OVERPRICING!
There was a time when Honda was the complete opposite and was far off from all the things mentioned above and that's what worked for them.
I hope Honda understands that playing loose and fast with their customers will not take them anywhere!

I own the previous generation Civic. It was a lovely car but Honda discontinued the model because they’re crazy and I was left searching for spares and repair all over the state.
Now I hope the new generation Civic does well, it has just tremendous potential but Honda decided to axe the MT and give a CVT?! Honda cars had amazing driving pleasure but now that’s just smoked up.
I wish the Civic would become popular so that I could purchase it without any worries about discontinuation.
But seems like Honda cut down a lot on features and the transmission options are disappointment

@@fbkensarhd5279 You are right to a certain extent, but another reason for banning it are: CVT relies on rubber belt, which are unable to handle extreme power and torque for longer period of time(typically time taken to complete a race). Second, solution for the above problem required using metal belts, which in turn heated up very quickly and effected the accuracy and efficiency of transmission. Third, CVT slips, and hence nobody wants a laggy race car, where each millisecond matters between winner and second place.

1) We have the capability now to build CVT units to handle greater torque, the limitations no longer exist.
2) The rubber band effect can be easily negated if you understand the fact that once a CVT reaches its peak power, it can stay there unlike other AT where the revs drop with shift.
In practice, a Car with CVT is absolutely superior to any other automatic transmission in the world.
Provided everything else is constant, a CVT will always win in outright acceleration. This is purely because if how mechanics work.

If comfort is all you're looking for, then CVT is the way to go. If you have not driven one, you won't know how smooth the transmission is, trust me.
@@fbkensarhd5279 your argument is extremely flawed. Why would someone ban a superior technology from motorsports? CVT is all about comfort and efficiency and not performance. CVT is not used in motorsports as it cannot match the performance of say torque converters.

Only that 1.5 turbo charged engine can compliment the handling and road grip that the Civic offers. 1.8 litre is good enough for most people but that 1.5 Turbo is just crazy, 1.5 Turbo Civic does 0-100 in just 7 seconds, so we are lucky to own this car with the 1.5 Turbo in Pakistan and hopefully the Indian market will get that engine in the future because Civic with that engine accelerates even faster than Octavia with a 1.8 Turbo which does 0-100 in about 8 seconds which is a full second slower than Civic's 7 seconds 0-100 time.

@faisal khan, i think that the petrol has the start with key button option because it is a CVT automatic and it is usually put in park before turning off.. but the diesel is a manual.. so the gear is put in(1st) before turning off.. so starting a car in gear without clutch.... yeah... you get it. i bet it wont have that feature if the petrol is also in a manual

faisal, I suggest you to not review any car when you have gone for it's launch on fasbeam channel.Do it when you get it in Navi Mumbai. coz you know that road and you drive it quite well over there and also launch video reviews you are doing it on the motorbeam.
