+Real Men Real Style Antonio, I like to use artisan soaps (hand made soaps) with fragrances in them and I just got a soap subscription to Dr. Squatch. How can I work cologne with these? Should I use fragrance free soap when using cologne?
+Real Men Real Style u r sayin i should use alcohol containing perfumes directly on my skin and not on clothes. wat harm will it do if i apply on clothing and why? also if i apply directly on skin....wont that cause skin irritation ?
+Real Men Real Style wow, this is great common sense__I am going to recommend you to my brother. He is such a slob_nerd_genius ,zeta guy who likes to hang out in his shed-workshop-lab-studio___a real garage dweller. He is remarkably informed about everything, has a completely gorgeous body and face but has no clue to what affect he could have . I would like him to know this stuff because people do judge by appearance whether we like it or not. Thanks
When my second husband passed away I had them spray down Temple Emanu-El with his cologne. It felt as though he was there with us. I like a man with a heavy cologne, but then again I'm old school and that was the style in those days.
+Redolessence Hey Steven - thank you so much for watching my fragrance video - your kind endorsement means a lot! Can you contact me www.realmenrealstyle.com/contact/
My only issue is the whole over spraying thing. It really depends on the scent (its note breakdown), your body, the weather/season, the setting, and the % solution to determine how many sprays you need. YSL L'homme requires 5+ sprays to be anything more than a skin scent after 1 hour on my skin. Paco Robanne's 1 million takes 1-2 sprays and it lasts and projects for 5+ hours.
As a fraghead, this is right up my alley! I currently have over 30+ fragrances, some niche but mostly designer. Very informative video as always, Antonio! Cheers!
+Real Men Real Style There are some designer fragrances I really love, but I lean more towards niche. My favorite fall fragrances are Interlude Man by Amouage, Bentley for Men Intense EDP, Vanilla Flash by Tauerville, Chergui by Serge Lutens, and Gaultier 2 (Square) by Jean Paul Gaultier.
First compliment from my side is that your presentation is highly professional... "BACKGROUND"(light grey) and the color of your SUIT, your standing position... every single thing captured the attention and made me watch the whole presentation.... and of course, it was really very informative. Thank You !!
Me and my gf both love colognes. We have tried multiple versions and sprays. Spray on your neck it goes straight to your nose. you’ll walk in alcohol fumes all day it Will give you a headache. Spray on hands and wrist and it goes away the moment you wash your hands. 1-2 sprays and we cant even smell it on each other after 10 minutes. 4 sprays seems to be golden. You Can notice you smell Nice and others Can too without choking them out. I go one spray behind each Ear and one spray on my shirt on each shoulder. You smell Nice and dont get headaches.
Your hair is really cool today! Backs up your video on hair products! I use a Lacoste cologne and I have to admit I over do it when I go out but not normally!
Thanks Antonio, this was very helpful. Should a man have a backup fragrance or several for different purposes? Say one for sport, one for casual/work and maybe something special for dress occasions?
A great video, Antonio. I personally prefer Eau de Parfum for its longevity and I also only purchase as a spray - important because, as the bottle is never opened, it retains the essential perfume longer. A bottle constantly being opened rapidly loses aroma. In use, I prefer a small spray on top of each shoulder near my neck, before then donning my shirt. This permits the aroma to 'drift' out more slowly as I move. A very SMALL single spray to 'shared' wrists (hold wrists as close together as you spray) is nice because hand movement naturally distributes the aroma. I recommend DON'T buy cheap! Cheap products absolutely scream "cheap"! As in all things buy the best you can afford. Great info regarding the proportions of parfum to alcohol - I didn't know all that.
Thank you Antonio! I'm a new sub catching up on all your videos. Currently wearing mostly van huesen shirts and slacks. As well as cheap rubber soles pleather shoes. I'm trying to step up in style for work. I've already signed up for your email subscription and downloaded your shoe guide. Thank you for your time and services. I look forward to many compliments and job promotions.
thank you for this. I recently purchased versace man and victoire lomani intense. and i've gotta say what i did was right. i sprayed it on my wrist one on each side and the azzaro chrome one on my elbow. after about 2 hrs of walking around the mall i ended up getting te 2 mentioned above.. what i kind of regret is that the chrome's scent stuck around much longer and i only learned about it after i got home and fell asleep. woke up and it was the strongest one that swas still there.. will surely buy it when i get the money again.
Mr Antonio you rocked this one!! I can't wait to go to the department store and try this out! And by the way I'm the guy who's 22 and got all my fragrance from my mom. -I know better know!
Insane video. Just wanted tips and dos and don'ts and this video delivered. Recently got a job working with fragrance (not something I wanted to do, just what was available). Stuff like this makes me take pride in learning more about fragrance. Plus now I smell good ahhaha
Idea for a next video: Guide to classic cars/special cars and what messages they sent. e.g. when you drive up in a classic Mustang/ another muscle car / a lowered 1970s C10 or other special cars.
You mentioned that fragrance can be used to cover odors. One thing we have found is that by using 95% alcohol on armpits, and rubbing it in for perhaps 20-30 seconds, over a span of about two weeks, it apparently kills the germs that cause the underarm order. Then we can go weeks without underarm odor if the underarms are kept dry (I blow dry them after a shower). I still use a scented spray of alcohol just in case at times, but it is also nice to know that underarm odor is preventable (no deodorant necessary) rather than just having to cover it up.
I have a collection of different colognes I never knew how to properly use them every time I spray them on I rub it on my arms this video really helped
Try Floris- Leather Oud. Very expensive but leave an absolute Heavenly smell on your body for hours. If you cant find a store in your area to try, you can order samples online or just take my word for it an order it because you and other people around you will enjoy it.
I'm excited to find your site. I enjoyed this tutorial.. I have been breaking out lately of the"old spice" routine. and have being wearing some designer fragrances. And yes it is very nice to be told "you smell wonderful" I'm sure i was applying to much, and i will be backing off... lol thanks again.
Thank you very much sir for all these precious information. Your videos are always great and informative. Sir can you please recommend some great cologne as I have very little idea about fragrance and is still trying to learn everything.
I've always been a fan of the original Gio I have tried and sampled others... for me its the perfect balance of clean , not to strong or spicy, I like to use the word a fresh smell, along with its never failed to be recognized as a good scent still gets complemented so why change it, in my opinion. However once in a while I will switch to the more rare A - List Gio its a holiday black and red fragrance that comes out once in while. It has that same original Gio scent perhaps a bit stronger with a tad more spice and last longer... that one I will use for bigger events or more crowded areas that oll be for a longer period of time... something he didn't really mention was when spraying think about how long you'll be at this particular place ... for instance at work I use a basically sports spray Frageance that last most of the day ... its good to have ud say at least 2-4 different fragrances to choose from and have an everyday separate for going out
Well, I understand this is an INTRODUCTION to the male gringo audience and yes good basic information. Just that I feel compare to add: 1- More that pleasing others and as consequence inflate ego with complements it is more basically important to please ourselves with the scents at all times, with or without company. 2- We are not limited to smell only four fragrances at any time! We don’t need coffee beans to clear or olfactory palate, the problem is that we inhale the alcohol contained in the fragrances hence the numbing of the pheromone receptors. Avoid smelling right after spraying. 3- Rubbing the fragrance on the skin is known as “Bruising” the fragrance.
I shave every day and use an aftershave after every shave. I have a number of aftershaves I go through in my cycle, mostly because I like the scent of all of them. In your experience, is aftershave enough? I feel like it is and it might be a good idea to expand on this maybe in a future video. I also prefer the types of scents I can get from a good aftershave and some of mine are also "aftershave/colognes."
My experience is that aftershave only lasts for a short while. There are moisturizers that come in gift sets with cologne that can last a little longer. In the end, though, you should still apply at least one cologne spritz to be safe.
+Nathan Kendall i'm gonna assume you are quite young and with all due respect you should not shave every day because it's very bad for your face especially if don't have a full grown beard you're basically just removing the top layers of your skin for no reason...as far as after shave goes the scent goes away fast and won't give the same effect as a fragrance would because of many reasons but projectivity, longevity, and the fact that a fragrance is not made out of one specific smell (it usually consists of 3 parts the opening, middle and base notes which start at that specific order)... best thing you can do is a lot of colognes have after shaves based on the same scent so you might wanna check that out...i know d & g makes after shaves, shower gels and other care products based on their fragrances...
Well I don't get any sort of irritation and quite frankly, my skin feels better now than it ever has. Many mainstream aerosol shave creams or gels are bad for your skin due to the additives they need to use to get them to work, but I use artisan soaps and creams that actually work to moisturize and take care of your skin. As for aftershaves, I often use the aftershaves these artisans also provide and they're often quite complex in their scents as they're meant to wear as cologne. I'd like to recommend Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements to you. Their scents are incredible and last well into the 6-8 hour range.
I discovered Axe Essence when I was teenager in Europe. (the 1980s) Now its the only thing I use, (antiperspirant and the body spray). I could not find it for awhile when I moved back to US in 1993. It came out several years later on US markets. Lucky for me, or I still be using Right Guard. ;)
I'm learning allot from your videos, and bouncing ideas off of my brothers and friends. On #2 listen to peoples compliments: Keep in mind that friendly people sometimes make compliments because you like it so much that you bathed in it. IE: wear an orange tie and watch how many people say, "Nice Tie!:.
great video...i've been in the fragrance game for 5+ years and people of both genders and different ages often ask me for tips...now i can just send them this video because you put it together very nicely and everything you need to know is in there step by step...always a pleasure to watch you antonio,i check your channel as soon as i receive an email
I don't have a dad. You and alpha m are my substitutes, teaching me how to dress, behave and be the gentlman my girlfriend now loves. Thank you for making me a man.
+Vishal Mody You're welcome - rubbing the perfume into the skin seems a sensible thing to do. In reality - it breaks the molecular bond, making the scent weaker.
I have a whole collection, and love to rotate. It's the perfect gift for me. Time of year, mood and occasion usually dictate my scent. Great to meet another cologne lover.
Wow what a hell of a video just started getting into collecting fragrances, a big step away from firearms and knives lol. I have gotten some pretty good ones to sample though can't say I'm a fan of creed but really appreciate Chanel Bleu.
Haha, love how you used that real men of genius commercial. Reminds me of how back when I was in high school. You could smell those guys from across the freaking hall. Instead of actually bathing, they would just apply a bunch of axe body spray or cheap cologne. We would call that the "douche shower." Nothing is worse than B.O. combined with too much axe.
Good article. I've tried a few over the years but recenlty I've returned to Dior's Eau Savage and absolutely adore it again. A few friends think it's a little old fashioned as it isn''t the latest "style" of fragrance. But just like clothes there is a lot to be said for the classics. They are classic for a reason and classics of any kind, whether it's clothes, watches, cars, or fragrances, seem more interesting to me than the latest fad. Nevertheless it has become my signature fragrance.
Antony, great video! I have watched a number of your videos and great appreciate your sharing your knowledge and insights. I have particularly found your videos about colors of clothing and how to match them to one's hair, complexion, etc. very helpful. May God bless and smile upon you always! P.S. The color of your coat really suits you well.
creed doesn't last long and is too expensive.. Dior Sauvage is much better IMO. May be a bit expensive but its a complement magnet, lasts all day and more and can be worn anywhere, anytime of the year
I found it interesting when you said "why do we wear deodorant" so why is deodorant used? Is it to prevent perspiration or to cover up the smell of preparation or is it used because marketers and advertisers say we need to? I'm an avid follower of yours and would really like your take on this subject.
Great guide! How would you solve the problem of having multiple sources of fragrances? My hair styling wax has a fragrance, and my after-shave has a fragrance. I can't myself discern if these conflict or overpower each other or not, and if they do, how would I fix it? It's not easy to find unfragranced versions.
honestly it’s about when you put them on. if anything spray the fragrance after shower. add the rest of product and then spray again right when you’re about to head out
Antonio, very informative video! You only briefly mentioned deodorant near the end. Since deodorants (and antiperspirants) have their own fragrance, how should that inform someone's choice in colognes? Should we try to match them, use them separately...? If the idea is to wear a frangrance daily, I'd like some more guidance, please.
Since the under arm is one of the warming points, I stay away from ever spraying there. I think a great deodorant scent can compliment almost any cologne. Plus, it should rarely come in to play, unless you are in the bedroom😄
Great info, as always! I'm one of the unlucky ones due to most fragrances not lasting very long on my skin. But I'm also one of the lucky ones for that same reason, because EDPs work really well on my skin. So most of my collection includes Creed and Tom Ford fragrances. Oh, what fragrance were you wearing in your airport story?
Hey Antonio. I always feel like I don't put enough on. Should the rule of thumb be, if you can smell yourself, faintly, after leaving the room you sprayed yourself in, you are good to go?
+Marlon M If you are applying cologne from a regular bottle, take one finger and press it against the opening of your bottle, and then tip it over gently.
I was looking for something on steeping cologne ever noticed how sometimes your favorite scent doesn’t smell as good and tell you’ve use some of it and it’s gotten some air in the bottle?? Dolce Cabanna the one that’s a sent for me it didn’t smell very good until I used it about three times and it sat in my closet for a week then it really smelled super strong!!
Hi, at 8:41 seconds you said to drink coffee to reset your palette after applying 4 different scents. I don't drink coffee. Is there something else I could do?
I think people feel better with someone perfumed up because even if they're odor free, they still won't feel comfortable getting too close, especially on the train/bus, afraid to smell they don't want to. I wear it to give an image that I'm clean and it's okay to stand near me.
+Aaron Smidt "Your cologne announces your arrival 4 blocks before you get there." Yes, that's a bit too much cologne.....2 blocks is more than adequate. LOL
I use a spray anti-perspirant. I don't only spray it under my arms but I also spray it other places where I sweat like under my neck. Do you recommend me wearing a cologne since I wear an anti-perspirant on my body that has a scent. Should I wait till after about an hour or so of using my anti-perspirant before I use cologne?
Nice Video, its educated , love it... I used to apply Fragrance on my Wrist but i realise that it will make a direct contact with my Watch, which leave a stain on it and sometimes when i wash my hand, its just get washed over.... since that I never apply fragrance on my wrist instead I apply it on my Elbow.... anyone had the some problem with me?
Quality videos as always, great content. I personally have three fragrances that I use. I have a light scented fragrance that I may wear during the day causally when I go to class. The other fragrance I have is a slightly richer scent that is more appropriate to wear at night when I go out. My third scent is a signature that I always wear when I see my girlfriend and she loves it.

I'd like to recommend Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements to you. Their scents are incredible and last well into the 6-8 hour range.
Excellent presentation and information. You have a gift for this and i'm definitely interested in learning more. Thanks alot.
Great video really informative. Would love to see a video about scents for occasions for example one for the office, dating, summer or winter?
It reminded me the film The Perfume.
Very illustrative as each of your videos!
I discovered Axe Essence when I was teenager in Europe. (the 1980s) Now its the only thing I use, (antiperspirant and the body spray). I could not find it for awhile when I moved back to US in 1993. It came out several years later on US markets. Lucky for me, or I still be using Right Guard. ;)
+Paul Waller cool!
Great video. I’m gonna start wearing men’s cologne from now on
I'm learning allot from your videos, and bouncing ideas off of my brothers and friends.
+CxerRy96 cool! appreciate that. You can also share my website - www.realmenrealstyle.com/
I don't have a dad. You and alpha m are my substitutes, teaching me how to dress, behave and be the gentlman my girlfriend now loves. Thank you for making me a man.
Great points! Thanks!
You look great with the styled hair! Pete & Pedro?
+Duy Nguyen P&P Rules! - Did you grab from my buy 2 get 1 free deal? peteandpedro.com/rmrs/ref/AntonioCenteno/
u r my guru..
I loved your video. It's a great summary. I made my own fragrance application video and it seems I favour more sprays than you!!!!
+MrSmelly1977 Good for you!
Great video Antonio! You videos are always the highest quality.
+Abhay Keluskar thanks Abhay
Thanks Antonio. Very informative video, as usual. I had no idea fragrance should be applied directly to the skin.
+Vishal Mody You're welcome - rubbing the perfume into the skin seems a sensible thing to do. In reality - it breaks the molecular bond, making the scent weaker.
Thanks for the tips, especially on where to apply the fragrance!
+Jonathan Lo Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video sir!! I have 8 colognes. My mood, time of day and temperature outside dictates which one I'll wear. I love colognes.
I only have three, depends on what I'm doing for what I wear.
+buellreaucracy very nice!
Walmart is not a department store. Do big brand stores carry the same quality fragrance as lavish department stores?
Keep up the great video! You and Alpha M are two of my favorite channels!
+Ben Appreciate that - thanks!
+Slick Vic Haha you got it!
+tnetroP I definitely agree! You don't need to own latest style of fragrance - you just need to find out what you like and what works for you! :)
+David B Thank you for the kind words. I wish you the best on your style journey
1) Buy "Creed - Aventus"
2) wear it
3) all you need to know
Or... Don't do that? Creed Aventus is overpriced.
Jakob Pedersen then do Montblanc Individuel
creed doesn't last long and is too expensive.. Dior Sauvage is much better IMO. May be a bit expensive but its a complement magnet, lasts all day and more and can be worn anywhere, anytime of the year
I have Aventus & Dior Sauvage. Dior Sauvage is very aggressive and cannot be worn anytime. I get 8hrs with Aventus.
xZyrux
There are better and cheaper fragrances but yeah, aventus is amazing. My balls naturally smell like aventus 😎😎😎
I found it interesting when you said "why do we wear deodorant" so why is deodorant used? Is it to prevent perspiration or to cover up the smell of preparation or is it used because marketers and advertisers say we need to? I'm an avid follower of yours and would really like your take on this subject.
+Amy Johnson good question - it covers up the smell www.menshealth.com/health/do-you-need-deodorant
+Real Men Real Style thank you for your quick response. I also enjoyed the article you linked to.
Regenosis I would say play it safe and choose one "primary" scent, and use other products that are essentially neutral. Just my two cents. budumpish
honestly it’s about when you put them on. if anything spray the fragrance after shower. add the rest of product and then spray again right when you’re about to head out
Fantastic video Antonio. Love your channel.
+Lebin Mathew Alex thanks Lebin!
this was a good video im 40 and im just getting into fragrances
Antonio, very informative video! You only briefly mentioned deodorant near the end. Since deodorants (and antiperspirants) have their own fragrance, how should that inform someone's choice in colognes? Should we try to match them, use them separately...?
If the idea is to wear a frangrance daily, I'd like some more guidance, please.
Since the under arm is one of the warming points, I stay away from ever spraying there. I think a great deodorant scent can compliment almost any cologne. Plus, it should rarely come in to play, unless you are in the bedroom😄
I am a big fan of your videos. I've learned a lot man. Thank you very much.
+mecaemalestacuenta You're welcome! Thank you for watching my videos!
Your hair is looking good today, Antonio.
+Berlin Tejeda thanks! I appreciate it
Thank you for another fantastic video. Lots of wonderful tips as usual.
+Ginzington Schnizer You're very much welcome
amazing video thanks a lot .
I started to follow your work and its incredible.
+Mario Alberto Colli Ek You're very welcome sir! Great to have you here.
very informative, i'm really impressed!!!!
Thanks man, very informative, I like it!
+Wesley Pimentel glad you liked it
Great info, as always!
He has told that story a few times in various videos and articles. It was Creed Aventus
Informative and helpful as always. Thanks!
Yet another great video. Thanks for this introduction to fragrance.
+StasRyadinsky thanks!
You state that 80% of men don't use fragrance, but approx. 98% that do, use WAY too much
+Aaron Smidt
"Your cologne announces your arrival 4 blocks before you get there." Yes, that's a bit too much cologne.....2 blocks is more than adequate. LOL
+Aaron Smidt For sure
thanks for the help sir
Fantastic video! I don't think I'll be wearing cologne anytime soon, though.
+Joseph Pratt How come?
I just don't like to wear cologne, that's all!
thanks...very informative
+Bamg449 I would recommend applying it to your inner elbow, neck, lower jaw, chest, forearm and wrist
This is an informative video. I would recommend using fragrance free lotion & deodorant, so nothing interferes with the fragrance
+Alan LT Also You also have to make sure it complements your natural body odor. :)
Oh man, just noticed I use exactly what the guy in the picture is using at 6:42... What a coincidence!
+Jose Aldo. PhD, English Language Pretty cool!
+Oscar Plata what brand do you use?
I use Eternity by Calvin Klein, La Nuit de L'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent, and Brit Rhythm from Burberry.
Great Introduction !!!!! 100%
