I got 2 of this roof platform, in my other car I attached it to the cross bars from the factory rail. I had it for about 6 years now. The other one is attached to the ridge mount bought separately from Supercheap. I would say, the ridge mount will solve most of the issues, however its a bit pain to install to a truck like hilux with no anchor point on the roof. At the end its really good looking platform and solid.
Hey mate i had the same system. With the gap you mention on those join what i do is that you undo the 4 bolt of end second end rail and pull them in closer inward thats will compress/pulled in the outter rail more so keeping it tighter too hope this help a bit
Really enjoyed the video Luke! - I have the same tray and love it! Nice strong design and well made. I agree with your point about the extra bolts, except I wish they included and extra six! I installed an extra (3rd) cross rail before assembling the tray. I was then disappointed to find 12 fixing holes and only 6 bolts! I thought about buying more, but I was 'on a roll' with the assembly and install and wanted to get it finished. I must say though, in reality, I'm sure the six bolts will be way stronger than is really necessary, but I feel the job just isn't finished each time I see one of those empty bolt holes! I've now got some spare bolts, and a few accessories on the tray too, so I have to resist the temptation to take it all down just the add those extra bolts!! Perhaps I should just buy some blanking grommets/plugs instead?? 😣🙄
Totally agree mate, I’m sure Rola had their reasons but it doesn’t seem like a difficult fix. I was a bit paranoid for the first few weeks driving around but I’m more than confident in its strength now! Definitely helps that I’m not constantly looking at them though 😂😂

Hey Naomi, depending on how it's mounted, a rooftop tent it shouldn't be a problem. The roof rack itself is rated to 300kg, however some vehicle roof mounts are only good for around 80kg so that would be your limiting factor.
Hey Gareth, depends on you're mounting system. As you saw I had 2 roof rails to mount to. I believe you can purchase a mounting kit to suit specific roof mounts also.
Is the the rack easy to mount and remove from roof rails. I probably don’t need it on for everyday use just when camping etc. Approximately how long would to take to remove and reattach
finally someone just shows it installed on roof racks, simple just what we need without the blah blah.. great stuff, top work

Very easy to remove only a couple of bolts that are easily accessible.
I reckon about 5 minutes unloaded if your vehicle isn’t too high.
