- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1967 VW Beetle. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

This is one of the finest cars ever made. My DAD bought one of these new in 1965. It was blue and at my young age back then I could see the magnificent craftsmanship that went into the manufacture of the car. My Dad was a huge ham radio operator and he installed an enormous transceiver under the dash and a six foot long whip antenna mounted on the rear of the car. He had to install a larger generator with more amperage capacity to power both the cars electrical load and his on- board radio! It was a wonderful specimen of superb German engineering! Ferdinand Porsche sure got it right!
I could tell a Beetle comming down the street just by the exhaust sound. Such a classic!

Omg is soooo damn pretty. I wanted one all my life
Same, almost bought one
Gotta love the sound and interior smell of the old bugs.
I was obsessed with these cars when I was a little kid, and in 2007 I went to a Volkswagen car show. I'm pretty sure 57 horsepower is right; somewhere along the range of 40-60.
You know, I like the older VW beetles better than the modern ones
They Stopped Making The Old Beetle In 1998, Then Resumed Making The New Beetle. There's Another New Model Too, I Forgot
Liam the Marching Band Guy Love the speed! 0-60 in an afternoon, as long as you’re not bucking a head wind.
@@novabossman7051 the old Beetle was actually made until 2003 in Mexico. 2004 was the last official model year.

I love classic VW Beetles. They're nice looking.
I had a 1962 VW in the early 1970s , BEST car I EVER owned !! I also liked my AMC PACER too .
JOSEPH CORSBIE hipster.
I also had a Pacer.....loved it!!
Very fitting song for the Beetle at 6:17. Came out a few years before the car.
What's the song called? I like it

Ahhh yes takes me back to my senior year in high school as my first car. Then I had the wreck in 79. Rolled this thing 5 times.
When you start a cold Beetle, depress the accelerator pedal all the way and then release (this is the process for activating the choke). Then hold the pedal down about a third of the way while you turn the engine over. Pumping the pedal does not really achieve anything. A properly tuned beetle can start in temperatures down to -25c. Ive done it and I don't want to do it again :-). The car in the video needs a major service and tune up.
That's actually good advice for any car with a carburettor - keep the accelerator pedal between 1/3 and 1/2 way in when cranking and DO NOT PUMP the pedal, whether automatic or manual choke. Drove a Mk1 Golf with manual choke for 10 years. Agreed on the service - that Beetle did not sound happy.
Does a beetle have a automatic choke?
-Destroy-
Bas Q. Yes it does, since the early '60's I believe, maybe even earlier. It's easy to find, it's right under the air cleaner, and is combined with the throttle attached to the carburetor. Where the accelerator, or throttle cable is attached to the throttle on the carburetor, and is also the idle adjustment and rests on a cam which is part of the automatic choke system regulating the idle while the engine warms up.
Alan Steadman - yes, it does, badly!!!!
I love how at 5:20 in, it threatens to stall. I love that sound.
I used to have one back in the 80's when I was at dental school. I loved that car.!!
You're awesome once again bro! I came home from the hospital in one of these same year but red and will always have a love for them! They will always be the most loved car in the world!
Nice job on the 67 VW. I have the same color 67 with black interion in my shop. I bought it from the original owner in 1993. It has 119,xxx miles on it now. I drove it for years to work, but haven't ran it much in the past two years. It is completely stock and looks every bit as nice as yours. The car has always been garaged and pampered.
My mom and dad had a 1967 bug years ago. It was their first brand-new car; they sold it years later in favor of another '67 that had lower mileage. That second one was the same color as the one you showed. Like others have said, the headlights don't look original; they look like they're from 1966. The horsepower was 53, not 57. My mom and dad owned a '68 (or '69, can't remember) that had a Beetle engine and that was rated at 57. The original Beetle was a great car and certainly a classic today.
Master piece. Greatness.
That is one sweet looking bug! Would totally love to own one of these!
Awesome Volkswagen Beetle
I have a 1972 standard and I love every bit of it.
If that's a survivor (unrestored) it's in amazing shape!.. thanks for posting this!
thats nice ride man great job.
i like all your videos keep up the good work
this car is so much fun to drive. My bio teacher let me drive hers after i graduated. its a 67 but doesn't have the chrome side skirts. I immediately fell in love and begged her to sell it to me. i dont blame her for not letting it go
That's a good looking Beetle!!
That was the year my dad was born and my grandad that I never met had one
This is the only Volkswagen I would ever buy
Love those old Beetles!
Lovely car :)
great video! i want one so bad!!
I must say this video was quite interesting. It showed so much in terms of cars. I liked the comparison between the old and the new.
There were four new beetles abovr your video of the yellow bug but I chose to watch yours because the classics are not something you see everyday.
I love that car
Great video! Brings back memories of my ole 1972 Bug. It was pretty cool to drive, but wasn't much for highway speeds. I think I could barely get mine t0 60mph. Plus, I had my floorboards rusted out, so everytime I drove over a puddle of water, the back of my knees got wet!! (LOL....good times....XD).
You forgot to honk the horn!
+Shane Spencer lol
XD
Close to the Road Runner!
@Anthony's Slime and Putty Channel Art and Dog Clips I see we both watch the same channels
ThatCarGuy2 also me
I used to drive a 67 Beetle In Amarillo Texas back when I was in high school.
Mine had Empi wheels and a monza exhaust, low back seats and one piece windows... (no vent window) and a great motor from RockyMountainMotorWorks.. Loved my bug.. Made me a BUg head for life....
It reminds me of my 66. Greatest little car any one could own.
I love this car!
My Grandfather used to drive a green 1966 Volkswagen Beetle that has a 4-SPD lever transmission. The Volkswagen motor company doesn’t make the Beetle anymore.
this is awesome.
Nice beetle, I watched since 2015
God do I love the sound of that thing!!
LOL the best review ive ever seen!
I love these old bugs and I always loved looking at them and for a long time I was hoping you'd do another old VW Beetle. Not just the Thing. In fact, I even have a model of the same car, except its red.
Great video Kyle. Glad you had a review of an old bug...
Sly
beautiful car, I Love it.
love the radio :D
My dream car!
Kyle, great video, one of your very best! And yes they are awsome cars. I have a request, would love to see a video on a VW Phaeton if you ever come across one. Take care.
After you get past 70 mph you can start to travel back in time to 08 and 09 :)
Not all 1967 VW bugs have one piece headlight units. Early 1967 VW bugs still used the old 1966 glass cover over headlights.
Thank you - I was ready to comment about the wrong headlights for a '67.
Hi herbie!
everyone’s saying they like the classic beetle better than the new ones, but who wouldn’t like them more? they are classics after all
nice video...i have a 67 sitting in my garage that was given to me by my father in law....it needs some work...floor pans and a front axle....but otherwise it is in good shape...can't wait to get it on the road! It is white too
love those cars so nice
Awesome! !!!!🙆💕💕💕🚘
beautiful classy car
Every vw beetles thats my dream car
HERBIE!!!!!! awesome!
9:16: "LA REVELACIÓN DE DIOS", or "God's revelation" in english, hahaha!
Great car man, a true time capsule
CPBlackopsMW3 You sound like a little kid complaining like your toy was taken away by older kids.
The bug is car, made for cheapness a reliability. The look, however, is still a matter of taste. You can judge no one for his opinion of taste.
Ever though about: In Germany aren't so many Oil fields. We had and still have to buy it from somewhere else in the world. That's why its getting more expensive every year.
When you ever had driven a VW Bug or Thing, you would the the fun factor of driving it. Here in Germany, you can drive through the streets and everybody is looking. You get in contact with many people.
The aircooled Boxer 4 cylinder is a nice motor for a small vehicle.
My favourite old American seventies car is the Ford Thunderbird, build from 1977-1979. It has 137-170 hp and still just getting the 175 km/h.
A Beetle, from this time could run its 140 km/h with less than the half of the tbirds horsepower.
Here in Germany are some people who are tuning this motors and drive over 200km/h... 200 because the tach ends there and you can't say how fast it actually gets.
Well, there are still people in the petrolhead scene, who doesn't respect the others.
And thats very sad.
Give respect to get respect.
And if you don't like the car because of the shape for example, don't destroy it. Its still worth for someone in the world.
And sorry for my bad English, I'm a German bug driver. ;)

Wtf
CPBlackopsMW3 Yep
@@CPBlackopsMW3 i know im late but im not a big VW fan but you can't just disrespect the beetle like that
vw beetle is the best vw ever made
you don't like Bugattis or a Porsche
+Keegan O'Neill yes, I like Bugatti and Porsche. Basically vw beetle is a old Porsche
The first Porsche was based off the beetle's body
*chassis
the vw beetle has the same chassi of porsche 911
gotta love the beatles:) got one my self :P
My first car was almost a 1967 red Beetle but in 1969 I bought a Ford Fairlane 500 instead. I have always regretted that mistake. Imagine if I had that Beetle today!
Makes me feel old school
Nice 👍
This beautiful car I like.
YES a Beetle !!!!! NICE!!!
Love that good ol' speedometer
Wow i love these Love Bugs. Truely a classic hippie car lol. My neighbors own and love their 2007 New Beetle. The car looks strange, but if they like it, that's cool.
perfect music for that car
This is why we Australians called the VW Beetle "Dak-daks". We all loved the Vee-Dub, was a very popular car here too.
This is how they sound original
pea shooters
I owned a '67 for three years back in the 60's and they did not sound this bad. They were rather quiet. This engine needs some serious work. The headlights are wrong for this year. The '67 had vertical headlights. The earlier models had lights like you see on this one. They leaned back. I'm thinking the front fenders may have been changed due to damage and '66 fenders were put on. The slanted "Volkswagen" name on the trunk lid is correct. The '66 had a slanted "1300" on the trunk.
I love these old bugs. I even have a model of the same one except its red.
I love the old ones
The beetle looks like herbie without his raceing stripes
Sebass Luna herbie was a beetle :)
Sebass Luna true
Herbie is a 1963 Beetle, this one is a 1967
Herbie was a pearl white '63
Take it for a spin! They're fun cars! I should know, I have one! :D
These cars are slow as crap and aren't fun to drive or ride AT ALL, you must be insane.
Insane? Why, yes, I am. As for the car, they might not be the fastest ones on the road, but they are built to last and last. If you have a problem with what I said, why don't you tell me instead of acting like an opinionated horse's ass.
I am laughing so hard right now. You come to two different videos to literally post the same comment on both VW Bugs that Kyle has reviewed. With that said, you are saying that a V8 muscle car will beat it in a race. That's pretty obvious. You seem to be a little too proud of the muscle car though. They are fast but they also have their downsides. Gas mileage is bad. Not terrible, but bad. The VW, however, has great gas mileage for its time. The Bug was made as a simple commuter car, such as the Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. Can you drive a V8 muscle car as a commuter car? It's possible, yes, but it's a great inconvenience. Most muscle cars tend to be very large and heavy. A Bug is small and light. I know that everyone here is entitled to their own opinion, but your comment seemed so ignorant and you are pretty much praising the muscle car as if they're the best types of cars in the world, that I just had to respond.
Bad Drivers Of New York
Well first, thanks for being nicer than most people, I appreciate that. And second, I thought he was talking about these old Beetles, the new ones aren't that bad. They're not great for joyriding and fun, but they're good everyday cars. I would be pretty embarassed to ride or drive one of these new or old, but that's my opinion. I think these old ones aren't that good though, but like I said its my opinion, you might think something else. And I really like muscle cars, but they're very good everyday cars like the Beetle, or the Civic like you said.
CPBlackopsMW3
How many of these VW bug videos you going to bash? You're trolling... and to say they're not fun to drive I suspect you haven't driven one. It's the same experience as driving a go-cart, winding around on the back roads which many would argue is more fun than doing the same with a V8 muscle car.
Love the old VW Beetle, I actually like them better then the new ones.

Nice. Waiting to see a vehicle tour of the Bus and Kharmann-Ghia.
A 1967 Beetle would fit very nicly in our garage!:)
im in love
classic with the engine in the rear ;)
She has nice & fitting carpets! Hahaha. What a wonderful automobile this is. Can't wait to own one of these.
i love it
aaah the sound of the good ol' 1.3L VW engine!
We still have a bunch of them on the streets here (Brazil). Some are rusty, some bumped, some are tuned... but still, it's one of my favourite cars and I might restore one someday in the future, who knows?
I have noticed that with all of your videos of automobiles with a manual transmission, you depress the clutch pedal while starting the engine. This puts a tiny bit of strain on the starter motor because the transmissions throw out bearing is having to separate the clutch ring from the flywheel adding a fractional additional load to the starter motor. I am an electrician and I know that the more the mechanical load on the starter motor, the more amperage it takes to spin the "series" motor with electro motive force. Its not much, but if you like, try just making sure the transmission is in the neutral position and leave depressing the clutch pedal out. That way the starter motor can devote all of its rotational torque to spinning the engine. Its just a thought. Love you car reviews to the max!! Keep up the great work and thanks!
many cars have a clutch switch that doesn't allow the car to be started without the clutch depressed. This car doesn't have that, but it says in the owners manual to depress the clutch when starting.
+jensen chase You know what Jensen, you are absolutely correct. I have a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 in mint condition, and guess what, I cannot spin the engine without depressing the clutch when starting the engine. Thanks for the correction. I still don't like this method of starting a vehicle but it is what it is. Your reviews are the best and thanks again.
Best car ever!
I just watched the Phaeton review you did, VW has come quite a way since the beetle :P
I'm getting one of these when i'm older
Back in 1971 I rode in the back seat from Kalamazoo to Lansing with 3 "Seniors" whom I worked with to take my then girlfriend to her Senior prom. 3 ladies that is. It was a 1962 red...and noisy bug. Thanks for sharing.
That could pack a punch
Yeah! Thats great idea.
I WANT IT!!!!
Nice
Hey Kyle, where are the heater defroster controls on this??
Is a great machine!!!
They have a habit of doing that when they're properly maintained and driven frequently. I've had a handful of bugs and once you get them tuned up properly and figure out all their "bugs" (usually stuff that PO's did wrong) they work just fine. Keep on buggin!
nice one
I want one!!
