    Both Ryan & Eddie will teach their students what they think works regardless of who out there first showcased the move. I've seen Eddie going over a 50/50 set up & obviously this is Ryan doing his thing with a twister roll variation... that's just all good teaching. If every instructor just taught their own shit, you'd have to travel the fucken globe everytime you got interested in something new.

    @mrtyson2u it may get a tap in the gym, or in rare cases in tournaments and MMA matches but because of its beig less dangerous, untill someone can prove you can snap a neck or break a back, it will be in status with low percentage moves, standard neck cranks, arm crushes, no gi ezekiel, wristlocks, ect

  • @Amouroso
    @Amouroso 11 років тому

    Sorry if this a ignorant question, i really don't mean it to be but isn't this a twister roll ?

  • @lsloewen2
    @lsloewen2 13 років тому

    Sad that this DVD taught me more about the twister roll than any 10P person I've ever met, trained with or watched. Probably b/c those guys are busy trying to invent new moves will Ryan is mastering high percentage ones.

    great video, and i utilize a lot of 10th planet techniques as well, no reason to isolate yourself to one version, i think what's happening now is exactly what happened to jazz when bop came out, a fantastic explosion of creativity, so stop wasting your time resisting innovation. One question though, I've been running into a little trouble when sliding over from the half guard set-up, the opponent usually keeps their feet locked. any clues how to disconnect them? does the dvd address it?

  • @mrtyson2u

    @lsloewen2
    You must not have been put in a good deep twister. It's easy to advise some one to ignore the pain but not so easy when you are getting cranked.

  • @lsloewen2
    @lsloewen2 12 років тому

    @mrtyson2u I still don't see how the leverage of the twister is enough to do permanent damage to the spine. If it can render a person unable to continue the fight, it would be one thing. But I believe the only real threat is stretched muscles and pain, compared to chokes and straight armlocks which will send someone to the hospital after successful application.

    what if the guy when doing the first move from the sidemount before hooking my leg when i switch my hips to do the move he grabs my back and pulls me towards him then im exposing my back ....is there any ways to control both his arms when switching my hips and not allowing him to grab me ...bcz if i place my arm under his shoulder he can still get it out ? thank you for your help !

  • @erblecde

    after the initial roll he does isn't there a calf slicer of sorts right there when he has his shin in the crook of his knee?

    • @erblecde
      @erblecde 8 років тому

      CJ Crissman yeah that's what I figured, especially since calf slicers are more pain submissions. I'm still a pretty nooby white belt so I'm trying to ignore the flashy cool looking stuff and focus on maintaining/getting dominant positions mostly.

    • @47indo47

      I'm a 10th planet purple and even I'm embarrassed by John Doe's comment. Nobody in the world is documenting who invented certain moves because it's impossible. Maybe JJ Machado taught it to Eddie? Ryan Hall is also not claiming to have invented this move. Focus on the technique, not who "patented" it first.
