    It looks just like the cake my grandmother used to bake in the 1950s. Happy memories.

    Hi!! I made your cake and it was awesome!!! My oven is one of those but I will figure it out. Thank you! Wonderful! I was saddened to throw the peel out so I boiled and reduced the peel with some sugar and lemon and within minutes I had a beautiful sauce to accompany it. Cheers.

    You're a Good Teacher.
    Never knew the idea of creaming and room temperature ingredients.

      Glad it was helpful! These steps are super important for a spongy and airy cake.

    My mom added sliced almonds on top of the apples before the raw sugar before baking. :-)

    Great recipe, instructions and ingredients are perfect just as in the video, it works 100%, thank you for sharing. If you don't eat it the same day the next one is dense, so next time I used 3 eggs instead of 2 and replaced 50% of butter with oil, it was lighter.

    Wise words to not skip the coming to room temperature of ingredients! You can make this even healthier by replacing the sugar with monkfruit! :)

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  2 роки тому +2

      Monkfruit and butter won't cream because of the "gummy" consistency of monkfruit. I do not recommend changing anything in this recipe.

    Thank you so much! Sounds delicious! Definitely will do it for my family, but i have a questions... My family is really big and I will need to do more of that cake, should I just doubled the ingredients?..

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  Рік тому +1

      I actually always double the ingredients and make two cakes because of the same reason. I do not recommend making one big thick one. Instead use two same-size pans. Midway during the baking time make sure to give the pans a turn so they bake evenly.

    What can you use if you dont have a cake strip?

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  Рік тому

      Just omit them. Your cake will still come out fine. A little dryer and darker on the edges and with a litte dome in the center but still well baked and delicious.

    The lemon zest was funky made the cake taste bitter - mmh not a fan of the outcome

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  4 місяці тому +1

      You probably zested the lemon too hard then. The bitter taste comes from the white skin under the yellow zest.

      Goto Utube Victoria's Kitchen, she has a all purpose nut flour blend, gluten-free, that can be substituted for wheat flour. Makes very good cookies and cakes.
