  • Only 2 hours away from Tokyo, there is a peninsula called Izu Peninsula. One town in the east of the peninsula called Kawazu, is known for Kawazu cherry blossoms.
    Izu has many hot-springs that you can visit all around the year and some beaches for the summer days. You can also make a day trip if you plan well.
    I visited Kawazu, Atagawa, and Atami in East Izu peninsula.

    thank you Ken chan for showing this. Unfortunately i will not have time to go to Izu peninsula this time round. I did not know there were cherry blossoms in Kawazu so i did not even plan to go to Izu😢
    Perhaps my next trip to Tokyo.

      You will be visiting for the Somei Yoshino, so that is so much better and you can see everywhere in Tokyo. Izu is not the palce everyone visit especially among Internatinoal tourists. Maybe it's good to visit one new place everytime you visit Japan. :)

    I'll be arriving in May so I'll unfortunately miss out on the cherry blossoms. But I was lucky enough to see the autumn colours in Kyoto last November.

    I'm looking forward to Kawazu this month. The festival starts on 10th if I am correct, but some people say to wait for them to blossom some days after, I'm thinking 16th perhaps.

      Yes, February 10th might be a bit early for the full bloom even though it seems early this year.

    Omg thanks so much Ken Chan! All of Ur Vdo is super useful. Love the detail and how you put an effort to include maps and little animation in other Vdo! U explained everything that is essential to a tourist like me! 😂 One question, im planing to go to Izu after my trip from Hakone. In order to save time, should I go straight to Ito from Odawara on the way back from Hakone? If so, what kind of pass should I get to cover both hakone and ito. Thanks so much Ken Chan.😊

    Oh wow! Are these recent recordings? The cherry blossom has already begun. I'm not flying to Japan for another three weeks, so I hope I'm not too late for the cherry blossoms by then! I'm starting to get nervous. 😕

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Рік тому +1

      It was recorded on February 27th this year. As I mentioned in the video, this cherry blossom is not the typical cherry blossoms you see in Japan, so no worry. This year, they are expecting to bloom on March 21 and fully bloom on March 25th as of today.

    Hey Kenchan!
    Thanks very much for this video!
    I'm planning to visit Kawazu during the festival, however I am worried if I will suceed to get there due to the crowds. My plan is to get a local train in Atami in my way back from Hiroshima.
    Since I cannot reserve a seat to get the local trains, is it possible to have trouble getting in Kawazu and/or leaving to Tokyo from Atami?
    With kind regards,

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi, you can make reservations for train called “Odoriko” to Kawazu from a month before the travel date. In this trip, trains were full as I planned last minutes. You can book from JR East reservations. You can also use JR Tokyo Wide pass.

      Good to know! Thanks a lot.
      I heard that 2023-2024 winter is hotter than usual. Is it accurate?
      Since the sakura bloom depending on the temperature, I believe they may start to scatter earlier than last year.
      Planning to get there the same day you went last year, by Feb 27th. Hoping to get them as beautiful as in your video!

    Thank you for sharing! This is a great video and so informative~~ Are there still going to be cherry blossoms in kawazu and along the izukyu line by 18th March?? I want to visit the peninsula but don’t know if the blossoms will already be over by then when i arrive

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Рік тому +1

      Hi, this specific Kawazu cherry blossom finished by now, but Izu is a still good place to visit. And March 18th is the perfect timing to visit for Tokyo's cherry blossom! You'll see lots of cherry blossoms. :)

      Thank you for watching. This year, cherry blossoms are expected to bloom on March 21 in Tokyo, so you might be able to see early blooms. :) I recommend you to visit Shinjuku Gyoen's Japanese garden or Sendagaya gate side. 🌸

    Ken quick question.. are masks still required when travelling in Japan..? Arriving next week . Thanks

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Рік тому +1

      Good timing. From March 13, masks are not required on most of the airlines and train companies in Japan. You still might see many Japanese people wearing masks either for covid or pollen allergy, but you don't have to. 👍
