My wife just bought me this version for our Anniversary. I luv it! My all-time favourite version of this watch is model BJ7010-59L because the colour scheme reminds me of a Breitling Navitimer.
Thx for the review. I saw this on sale for black Friday on Amazon up here in Canada for $230ish US. I watched this review and then ordered it. I always kinda wanted one of these and for that price you can't go wrong. Its going to be my little Christmas present to myself as I'm want to do every year now that everyone just gives you cash or something inpersonal like a gift card. 😅
Great video. I can confirm that the SARB017's inner bezel sometimes slides up and down slightly when turning. I used to want this watch a lot and almost bought it, but in the end held back because of it's size. Beautiful though.
Woah! I've been watching your videos for awhile now because I'm into watches. I also love going to Cherry fest every year to see the Blue Angels. I just watched this video and realized we both live in Northern Michigan. Cool!
Thank you for the review. Possibly the only one on UA-cam for this edition. I have the same one but with the blue strap, which is horrible and prone to cracking on the underside. I would strongly suggest people instead buy the metal bracelet version shown by Rob here. I’m planning on buying the bracelet from Citizen Watch Canada once they confirm the bracelet will work on the leather strapped version (I’m assuming it would!)
@@CG-ql5rr Sorry for the late reply! I sold mine, but it held up well. The bezel is actually black to me, it's ion-plated metal I believe, and it's tough. Also, the Nighthawk bracelet does NOT fit on the leather strap version of the watch, as the lug holes are actually closer to the bezel than the bracelet version... I confirmed this with Citizen Support as they had someone try it on to test. I actually miss this watch, I may buy again, but I want the bracelet one shown by Rob in the video.
Just bought this watch for $360 Did not come with that case I won't quarrel over $30 Very nice clean look you watch keeps great time got a lot of reminders
yobokies sells a sapphire crystal for these as i picked one up and love the domed distorted look it gives! The case back etching is on the US models only the Asian version has the engraved back! Why I have no idea but it looks cooler! We have a cherry festival here in Western Australia to...
i got a yellow faced chronograph in early 2000s that fogged over on me and took a sh*t. so i got rid of all my Citizens and never bought another Citizen since. the watch didnt get wet and was under 6 months old, no second chances with me, and im a watch lover.
Hey guys... this model is superb CA0720-54H... you can find it refurbished in basically new condition on eBay right now for a screaming deal of $165!!! I bought a backup after I loved the first one. Has a sapphire crystal. This blue Angels watch does not have a sapphire crystal... big mistake by Citizen imo. Thanks for the video.
I continue to be impressed with my Nighthawk, one of the first watches I bought when I got into this hobby three years ago. My only wish is that it had a sapphire crystal as it is quite prominently elevated above the bezel and I've taken chips out of mine already. I could easily see the Nighthawk as being the one and only watch in a collection and with some judicious strap changes, could satisfy a reasonable person's needs.
I've been looking at this watch. Would you consider it a keeper? How does it compare to a Seiko SNA411. I have the Seiko and can't decide if it would be a good one to add or would it be redundant? Thanks, Rob. Cheers.
Random Rob I find that if a watch wears slightly on the big side, I would wear a NATO strap with it. Why a NATO strap? Because of the two pieces of Nylon from the NATO slightly elevates the watch from the wrist, allowing enough clearance for increased movement of wrist. For example, a regular Nylon NATO strap is about 1.25mm thick. 1.25mm times two (because two pieces of Nylon NATO will go underneath your watch), will elevate the watch to be about 2.5mm from your wrist. I discovered this when I found wearing a regular strap with my SNA411 was not comfortable enough; I put it on a NATO and found it much more comfortable, and figured out why it was more comfortable.
For the most part yes, maybe little off on the left side of dial. Not sure if that’s optical illusion or what. Citizen overall is very good and nailing this.
Man-o-man, this is one in which I [must have] missed because I follow, or, well, try to follow, or keep up with Citizen and I have had a few (and still own) and am looking in the next little bit of buying a couple of the Blue Angels edition ones (and then also starting a small collection) -- I am familiar with the AT8020-54L (Blue Angels radio controlled) watch and have wanted it for a few years now and may go ahead and get it ordered after the holidays. This one particularly I was unfamiliar with and glad I came across your page (and video) and I noticed also the different watches in the background and is nice knowing (i want to say) that you collect watches yourself -- this Promaster Nighthawk will be the one following the AT8020 that I will want to purchase... I absolutely LOVE what Citizen has done with these watches (and other models) and features as well based on the rotating diver's dial PLUS the overall look of it... I can only imagine how it feels in your hands and looks very comfortable whilst wearing. Very awesome!
Robert Spinks definitely both awesome watches. Depends on whether you need a 1 hour chrono more than a true ish gmt, since the alarm gmt hack on the flightmaster is clunky and difficult to change
@@warrockown44 didn't come with a paper manual. Maybe the jeweler lost it. But thanks so much for the exceptional info. You must have been up all night trying to figure that one out... *eyeroll*...
Good review, weird because the date feature is.. Well unsimilar to the russian 12 pm day roll back and seiko made 6 oclock date adjust change which was my reason to visit your video so cheers. You should include a lume shot... Its probably the most disappointing thing about this particular time piece... Still worthy if anyone is a collector of modern day fleigers. This one is always cheap too, i bought it new/used for 200 Aud. After looking it over several times its a nice piece. I wouldn't pay more than 200 for this piece. There is more features in the more expensive versions but look at the video and ask yourself when you last did mid air calculations on your watch and ask yourself if its legitimately worth the extra money. I work in logistics... I pull out my squale every weekend in the sun and skx007 if its inside book weather.. But you do you.
I had saved money to buy this watch for my birth day but i can't find the version that comes with the leather band because thats the version i really wanted so now i'm big sad
Dang, I really messed up on this review. Gmt time off and no Lume shot. I sent it to Bruce, when it returns I can make a follow up vid. I am sure he will show the lume.
Was going to get it. Even had it ordered for about 4 hours online and then canceled it. After reading and watching youtube videos, the dial is just too busy. Ended up getting the CA0690-88L Silver Stainless-Steel Eco-Drive. Much cleaner dial.
I love Blue Angels air shows, but *do Blue Angels pilots even wear watches* - let alone these ? if not, it's like advertising *official Army Rangers flintlock rifles* !
Russo Clark uhhh, not sure how this is like a flintlock. Out of my friends who are fighter pilots (and my career field means that probably half of my friends are), citizen pro master watches are very popular. I’ve not met any who wear nice watches flying, it seems like 30-40% citizen watches like the skyhawk or this, 30-40% timex Ironmans or g shocks, and the rest either Suunto type gps watches or something eclectic. I’ve never met a pilot who doesn’t wear a watch. Period, whether fighter or heavy.
You're showing a watch with a calculation slide rule and you can't be bothered on showing at least two simple calculations, because you haven't even read the manual and memorized it? Is it big for my 6,3" (16 cm) wrist, isn't it? It's pity that there aren't 40 mm version.
If that had atomic clock syncing, it would be unstoppable. Cool watch even without atomic syncing.
I really like the edition of this watch. I also plan to buy ASAP. My question is, how readily available are sapphire crystals for replacement? Thanks
I did a quick search, didn’t find anything fast. I am sure they are out there though.
