I couldn't agree more! The PMP test is hard but doable! I took it in one try in August 2022 and passed. I spent 4 months studying for it along with working, and fulfilling my other adulting obligations. I studied alone and didn't sign up for any courses to help but I took a ton of practice tests, watched a ton of UA-cam videos, listened to relevant podcasts and re-read my notes a great deal. I also agree that you should get the PMBOK Guide and study it through and through. There's a new syllabus/version being tested as of Q4 2021 with the PMP and the questions asked are reasoning questions (you can't cram your way into passing). I also disagree with a lot of content out there that you can prep for the exam in 2 weeks alone. Do the work and you will certainly succeed. Happy studying! It's hard but doable!!!!
I passed my exam above target last year. That test is no joke. Thank you for answering my question surrounding the software used to manage your projects.
I'm not at the PMP level yet but I am going to take my CAPM to get my foot in the door. I'm super excited for things to come!! 🙌🏾🖤🙌🏾 And yes please, TIPS!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hi Kristyn - I love how you touch on the some of the chaotic points in project management AND have the ability to work from home doing what you love with your fur babies! What are some tips that you would say mentally prepare you to get through those last minute requests and how do you handle them? Are you able to share if this is more of an Agile approach to your particular project or traditional approach?
I will answer these in my next video however I use both for my current project. We use agile for the sprints of the development work and I use the traditional process for the high level project plan. It’s a combination as my current project is an IT project.
OMG. Thank you so much! This is like the most detailed 'Day In the Life of A Project Manager' Vlog I've seen so far. Glad to have come across this. You look great, btw.😊😊
Thank you. I was trying to improve upon my past videos like this. I have another one I want to do since my project has picked up a lot since this last one. Thank you for watching.
Hey K✨️✨️💫💫✨️❤️❤️!! Happy Monday and thank you! I had to come to see if you've posted early in the AM too 🫂❤️! Have a great week to you and your family 💫😘.
@@KristynAlexis thank you! I just passed the PMP exam on Saturday as a first attempt! There is so much to learn to become dexterous so I shall watch your vids too.
Hi Kristyn! Do you use any of the new non-enterprise AI tools in your work? Could be a very informative video, esp. for your subscribers who are self-directed, lead a team, are entrepreneurs.
I would love to see a video on salary negotiations. Women, especially black women rarely negotiate. Also, if you could break down a difference of salary negotiation when changing employers, and changing jobs within an employer. Do you also negotiate when you switch internally?
I'm a project scheduler and I create the WBS from the SOW , link the task/activities, and apply the the activities/tasks relationships, load resources, determine float or non float/ flag time which is CPM etc. I have 10 yrs plus working with MS Project & Privera P6 My 16 month contract is soon coming to an end and I'm looking for my next contract or direct hire .. looking to network regarding Project management & project scheduling.
Just in time. I have been studying for the PMP and starting to feel like I don’t want to take it anymore. Tired of studying and, of course discouraged about the chance of failing it.
Hello K Star, would your husband mind you getting a third doggie. I could tell you really love them. I am terrified of dogs. Love your business/ work chat. I do learn something each time you do a video like this . 💕
Hi .I’m interested in PM I have been in medical field for 23 years as a assistant and doing way more thank what I’m suppose to ready to switch do you have and recommendations on prep books
New subscriber here!! Just wanted to come by and say I am loving your day in the life content, especially on your work days! I have an MBA and studying for my CAPM!! I’m so happy I came across your content…it was really helpful for me!! ❤❤
Currently, I am a Speech Language Pathologist looking to transition to a Project Management career. What advice would you give to someone looking for a career change to PM?
I plan on taking the test within the next few weeks. My application was accepted and I paid for the exam. Just haven’t set my exam date. Every time I think I’m about done, I find I have more to learn. Question, I have experience and a google PM certificate but I am having a hard time finding work. Do you know of any opportunities? I’ll even go back to Project Coordinator or another entry level title.
The certification from PMI really helped me a lot as it’s often the prerequisite for the PM roles that I see online. Otherwise, associate roles are a great way to transition into the role you want. Linked in was a great resource when I found my correct role. Are you comfortable with networking there as well as searching for roles on their site?
Hi Kristyn! I enjoyed today's video. I wanted to know if you were recently laid-off, would you try and look for another job or take a few months to become certified in another skill / certification? God Bless you and your family.🧾📚📕
