Sounds like a crazy Prince track. UMO has definitely become one of my favorite current bands. Ruban has tremendous breadth in his songwriting and playing, and the band really grooves. They were super in the rain at Summerstage NYC this summer. Keep up the great songwriting, arranging and videos, and I'll keep coming back, Ruban.

@@lowlowseesee the thing is, there's always gonna be popular music and it's always not gonna be good music. You just have to embrace it. There is the bad and popular stuff and the insanely creative good less-known stuff. Unfortunately the inventiveness of music will never determine its success, you're not gonna ever hear the best song cause it's not gonna be something people know about. you cant change that, however you can still support the artists financially though. And as long as you do, as long as they can keep creating art (which is not the case with so many less-known artists), it's fine

Echolapse Yeah, VERY much so. As soon as I heard this I thought exactly the same. Which is a good thing, of course. There's a huge Prince influence in a lot of UMO's stuff. Even the 'Ur' in the title is Prince :)

3 years late, but I think the video takes the mysticism behind religious imagery (specifically hinduism and eastern asia) and stories, and uses it to play off the themes of the song. Which are sex, unexpected/unreturned love, the tangled web of life. It all unfolds on a mosaic simultaneously

I think that this song could be about one night stands, and the ridiculousness/meaninglessness of experiencing what some call "love" for only one night. I can honestly say that I haven't had any one night stands, but I imagine that the people don't feel too great about themselves in the morning, and in some cases it can even come with consequences ...... "similar" (but somewhat different) to the themes of "Jigsaw Falling into Place" by "Radiohead" (Jigsaw falling into place resolved itself in the end. This really doesn't resolve itself)....... but, then I think that I might be totally wrong.... and I start to wonder if this song is about short lived, impulsive, "fun while it lasted" relationships (I have had my share of those), especially since the lead singer (Sorry, can't remember his name right now) was in a three person relationship, and I guess that this album is somewhat about how it didn't end very well for him, his wife, or the lady that they became infatuated with. The chorus, and "She wants you, and love don’t come into the equation" makes me think that it's about a one night stand, but then the lyrics "What she loves, is sex in parked cars and the Photo Booth at Cha Cha She’s not a hologram, got damn, you can’t ignore it She’s such fun She says “don’t run”, she says" make me think that it's about a short lived relationship. Those lyrics specifically remind me of people running through a city, having too much fun, causing minor but still exciting mischief (sex in parked cars). The ending is so sad. It's only two lines, but "You’re cornered, and she just needs revolution That’s cute, but she’s no pearl of Gisborne" is heart wrenching. She just needs revolution, and whether that is political, or personal is up to you, but I think that it's very much about personal revolution, and how we can't always offer it to people, and create revolution for them. We have to create revolution within ourselves, and nobody can do it for us. The other person in this song can't take the relationship seriously anymore, because he can't provide what she needs, only what she wants.
