I was once on a flight like this. It was a 737-300 and it was fully loaded, not a vacant seat. As one might expect, there was also a ton of baggage. We began our takeoff roll as normal, except that we kept rolling, and rolling….and rolling. People around me started murmuring nervously. After we had passed the fifth or sixth exit, the pitch of the engines rose perceptibly as the pilot flying applied more power, and we rotated and became airborne just as the end of the runway disappeared beneath us.
Air crews routinely calculate takeoff power settings based on gross weight/payload. This time, the calculations must have been somewhat off.
Also, as others have noted, this takeoff was indeed “just in time,” rather than “too late.”
Didn’t get the tyres dirty. Didn’t touch the fence.

It is a well-known saying among aviators that, “Any landing you can walk away from is a good one”. (It was first penned by Gerald R. Massie in 1944 after the crash-landing of his B-17 while serving as a photographer.) So, it should also be true that, “Any take-off you can fly away from is a good one”.
