The Dr went to great lengths to explain that there is no money for those supporting the right of women to be circumcised, what didn't you understand?? Seems like the Dr. is a good role model for girls' and womens' empowerment.
Just Googled GWA-FC & it’s main focus / mission is to work with circumcised women. Would like to know the data ( health, psychological, physical, mental, emotional, sociological factors) they have collected to educate the Scientific Community & people in general ? . How does her organization get its funding & where is it based ? GWA-FC should be fighting for the fundamental rights of all women if it wants to be taken seriously. Advocating for FGM is cruel & dangerous.

Yes, it's often a painful procedure with many health risks. Male circumcision is also a painful procedure with many health risks. Male and female procedures are done in parallel and no known culture singles out females. "Labiaplasty" and "designer vaginas" are basically female circumcision done by Western doctors on Western females.

If women subjected to the practice became sterile as a result then the tradition would have died out in a single generation! The equivalent is obviously any non medical injury of the male in that same part of the body. Male circumcision is defined as the removal of the foreskin, which is a type of penectomy. This involves the total ablation or widening of the phimotic ring with permanent exposure of the entire glans, in children necessitating the prising off of the mucosal foreskin, and amputating the prepuce, repositioning through the suturing of the proximal skin to the mucosa, with or without the complete excision of the frenulum. In terms of FGM this is equivalent to the most severe form of infibulation where parts are amputated in addition to the suturing.
This is a myth. Female circumcision is NOT female castration. Women who have been circumcised can enjoy sex and they can reach orgasms. The truth is that the majority of the female sex system is internal so arousal and orgasm remain possible. In some cultures, what is done to the female is LESS invasive than what is done to the male.
