    I lived in Antioch for 38 years. When I lived there, they did not even have a high school. We lived right next to the very first high school they built. We use to go to the minds and the cemetery and go in the caves before they were closed. We would go way down into the caves. Pretty scary.

    Many years ago when I was a child my and my sisters were in our backyard in Antioch and we noticed someone standing there behind the fence with a white dress, we flashed a flashlight through the fence and she leaped over and her face was extremely white like a ghost and it was the scariest thing I ever seen and like something out of a horror movie. I get chills down my body when I think about it.

    Growing up in the 70s and 80s in Antioch, I always heard of the white witch of Sarah Norton, but this is a first hearing about Mary .

    When I was a teen back in the 70’s you could still get into those mines. It was black as hell and easy to get lost. You better have back up batteries & bulbs, and matches. The graveyard had been vandalized, sad to say, a lot of young kids of Welsh decent. When I went back after I got out of the navy it was all sealed up.

    Great videos ! I’ve hiked off trail many times and I’ve heard and seen weird things.. I always hear loud steps in the bushes and it doesn’t sound like birds or ground animals. Also I seen a lot of creepy painted symbolism with and old tent. Also once I go past a certain point.. big black crow type of bird start flying right across my face. It’s weird.

    Fun story! Your keys in the ignition startled me because my surround was turned up too loud. Hahaha!
    I hope you get to tour the mines next time. The high school I graduated from, 40 miles north of Sacramento, was built upon an Ancient Indian Cemetery. In addition; so is the cemetery that is literally touching the high school next door. Our mascot -- the devil! A lil' red horned devil holding a trident. Go figure. The adjoining Cemetery was often frequented by students. And someone was always seeing something. Even the ladies in white. Tragically, on May 1, 1992 we had a terrible mass shooting on campus (7 years Pre-Columbine). I don't believe there's any relationship to the location, but of course that's the rumor. Lindhurst High School.

    I've lived in the Bay Area all my life, but I have not heard anything about the mines being haunted. The cemetery, yes, but not the mines.

      @@WanderwithAwe it is fiction, but it mentions the buggy accident of Sarah Norton, it is called In The Shadow of Diablo by Dan Hanel. it involves two school teachers who are getting married and how they wind up involved in a Great Mystery that involves the White Witch and the miners and others of the town of Nortonville

    Hey I was wondering if you believe in ghost or spirits and I personally don’t but I’m so over obsessed with paranormal that I’ve never encountered it and was wondering we can chat on some ideas here in the Bay Area

    • @WanderwithAwe
      @WanderwithAwe  3 роки тому

      Hello. I never had an encounter with a ghost before...that I am aware of...but I would like to believe that there are spirits in the world. There are just too many stories about them to not have a little bit of truth behind it. But like you, I am obsessed with this stuff...especially with old tales that tie into the history of the area! xx

    • @GamingSubHDbest
      @GamingSubHDbest 3 роки тому

      Definitely I mean I do believe they are real in ways. It’s just one of those sayings for me because I haven’t experienced it then I don’t believe it ya know. Have you gone to places here in the Bay Area
