Rene Spronk - Transforming HL7 version 2 to FHIR | DevDays 2023 Amsterdam

HL7 version 2 messages are often used to populate a RESTful FHIR Server, e.g. a Clinical Data Repository. There is much more to this than just the mapping of HL7 v2 segments to FHIR resources. Examples include: data duplication avoidance, dealing with unknown code systems, the snapshot nature of HL7 v2 versus the nature of RESTful servers, event handling mechanisms and the use of the Provenance resource. Some of the more common architectural approaches one could use to construct a mapping solution are discussed as well. Attendees are expected to have experience with HL7 version 2, and a good understanding of FHIR. At the end of this tutorial you are aware of some of the challenges and best-practices related to the transformation of HL7 v2 to FHIR.
