“Too black for DSTRKT but the money too pinkish
So they’ll turn a non-colour blind eye for our business
So we can get in long as we’re spending like niggas?
Just as long as we don’t bring our sisters
The club he is talking about had a racist policy. Rappers and black guys with cash could get in but not black females as an actual policy. Pinkish refers to the colour of £50 notes
Grime is 140bps, dirty bass lines, synth strings grunginess like no other. If you want to understand the sound of grime look no further than the Godfather of the grime in Wiley:

Kano, Ghetts and D Double E - Class of Deja (live). Best UK performance you'll see!
this
It is the perfect ode to old school grime imo
This goes hard
tiny boost 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Soooo cold. And the back and forth part with him and Ghetts is impeccable. The chemistry is mad
I'm 48 and grew up with US hiphop.. But since I heard dizzy back in the 00's I'm all into the UK scene.. Uk rappers are in a whole different league.. Great reactions bro!
Never clicked so fast. This fire in the booth is insane. Kano is definitely top 3 to ever do it in the UK. Check out trouble by kano
Wild he has only done one and never done a daily duppy
Tell him to react to lowkeys
@@user-hu2xu2li9z lowkey is amazing and i love his music but man was reading from his phone bro. It takes points off for me but probably impossible to do what he did without it 😂.
Benny the butcher had one that he read of his phone it was awful. Only 3 mins and man read every word 😂
Skinnyman, Lowkey, Akaala..?
Top 3 in UK? Really?
This Fire in the booth is definitely one of the best, especially when you realise he stepped in at the last minute as someone had cancelled! AND did it in one take!
If you haven't watched Top Boy yet you should def do it..
Kano and Dave are both in it
100% I'm still staggered just how good Kano is in that show. Sully is an incredible character.
Best TV ever
So glad you got around to Kano. He's up there with the best. Him and ghetts are unrivalled in my opinion.
Edit : seeing you say you're ready to slate him at the start if he's whack and us English people knowing what's about to come is brilliant 😂😂😂😂
Also, grime started as an underground, gritty type of music. The beats were dirty and "grimey" . You need to check out wiley,he's the originator of it all. Beats like Fire hydrant and I'm a sinner. That's grime and kano started out as a grime artist,he clashed wiley when he was 17 and probably won tbh. There's a lot of history to grime but real grime doesn't really exist any more, not like it used to
Love this comment!
Ha ha, I was the same…
I was like oooohhhhhhhh he don’t know…
Bro the ‘edit’ part is sooooo IT!!!! LOOOOL I was like this nigha gonna learn today,
Kano and Dizzee Rascal weretwo of the first artists over here to break into the mainstream and opened the door for grime. Chip too, Wretch a little later. The rest is history. You need to get to akalas fire in the Booth part 4 my man, your mind might just be blown 🤯🤯
Tell him to react to lowkeys
@@user-hu2xu2li9z you just did
Never see dizzee get much love - he's the godfather with wiley and his early Westwood freestyles are impressive
You deserve to be so much bigger, you are doing more than just reacting, the breakdown of bars, everything, life advice etc etc! You are amazing! Thank you.
Your love for hiphop is contagious
Kano is a goat there is no grime without Kano
Facts
Shame you didn’t listen to the rest of the video,
Charlie sloth was saying this was one of the best FITBs and all done in one take,
KANO Was like “other people don’t?” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is UK rap bro, grime is exclusively founded on beats produced at 140 bpm and the flows are tailored to align with the accelerated beat. The easiest way I can explain what grime is. Massive love and respect from the UK
Think it’s hard to understand grime if you never got garage, old grime was before anybody even knew you could change BPM on FL 😂 ghetto kyote legendary instrumental. Skepta I spy up there as a belter aswell
Kano and Ghetts came up together in the same crew (Nasty Crew) 20years ago and are still close friends... That should tell you enough about the levels 😂
No one can chat to Ghetts and Kane. The real 🐐 🐐
Bro, I am from the UK and been watching US reactors for years. Somehow just found your account and you are the best. Big love.
"As amazing is Heinz is you should be buying Grace".... Double Entendre, Grace is a Jamaican brand of products but amazing grace is also a gospel song. That line is sooooooo crazy!!!!
You’re gonna get a lot of comments trying to help you understand the things that define grime and how it is separate to rap. They’ll all be slightly different because it is subjective and there’s not 1 accepted answer.
I will have a go:
Grime beats are distinctive. Usually 140 beats per minute but a song with a different tempo could still be grime if it sounds like grime.
Dark beats, signature electronic sounds, fast tempo.
The flows are distinctive. The 140bmp instrumentals provide a unique challenge and create unique flows with rappers existing within the pockets and rhyming on the off-beats. Think of ghetts here.
Radio sets are very important in the history of the grime genre, and the development of our MCs. Our top grime MCs have build their skills upon hours of radio sets. DJs will mix through lots of grime instrumentals and the MCs have to improvise in the cypher. They spit their bars over whatever beat is played and compete against their peers for a wheel up/reload. These skills are unique to grime and create artists like chip. Chip is extremely versatile and can rap in any situation. He can battle face to face, he can make al types of rap songs and projects too. Americans don’t have the same radio rap culture.
If you want to see grime radio sets, try rinse FM’s grime show as a starting point
Good job catching those bars Kso. Kanos accent is strong east London and I’ve seen other American reactors get completely lost!
Strong accent yeah, but the heavy Jamaican patois too when he feels like it! That's the hardest part for lots of Americans I show his music to. Except for those people in NYC who are also Caribbean.
listen to Ps- fire in the booth and then say uk drill isnt where its at. bro’s got everything flows, punches, syllables, metaphors etc, even his presence on the beat and in the studio is mad
And guten tag 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
Yeah PS killed that shit
Kso please watch top boy it’s a uk gang series that Kano plays a man character, you would love it
Plus Daves in it! 😍
YES….
FINALLY Kso IS REACTING TO KANO!
Been requesting this for time,
So stoked to watch.
LETS GO! 😎
Yes! Looking forward to this one! I done commented a number of times for this one. So glad ur doing it... now ima hit play
🥹 I’m so happy that u finally found Kano. Get Chip on here next. He’s been burying Stormzy for the past 18 months
I absolutely agree. Flowers and Killer MC would be perfect for him to react to back to back to see the contrast between rap and grime
💯 Chip. You’re sleeping on him. He’s been clashing (diss tracks) with Stormzy since he has been sending subliminals at Chip. Stormzy hasn’t responded yet. But every time Stormzy drops a subliminal in a collab, Chip pens up and posts in less than 12/24 hours.
thank u bro honestly its amazing to see an american reactor appreciate our uk 🇬🇧 music scene for real massive respect for you 🙌🏾🔥🔥
YES. Been waiting for this one
You gotta check out Kano - Hoodies All Summer. Specifically Class of Deja and Teardrops. Love from the UK bro 🔥
The SYM live performance gotta be done too 😂
Kano rarely drops anything,
1 fire in the booth no daily duppy but he is one of the ogs and top 3.
Man leaves 10 yrs between albums and yet is a uk legend and its always 🔥 and seminal.
Ghetts is no1 for me right now, and kano no2 but that might change if he drops something new😂.
Also jay z said he was his fav uk rapper
Can’t believe I’ve not come across this channel before! You are HILARIOUS but your reactions are genuine and you have a knowledge that not a lot of other reactors can even begin to display. Earned a sub for sure and I’m gonna spend my night going down the KSO Big Dipper rabbit hole
42 minutes never went by so fast, keep doing what you do!
Grime typically sits at 140bpm, whereas rap/hip-hop is at around the 90bpm mark. That's where the beats differ. Obviously as you listen to more and more grime you would pick up on certain nuances. This what you're reacting to here would be rap. However the song you mentioned with Dave and Stormzy (clash) is actually a grime song.
Yup correct, grime won’t go no less then 120bpm(beats per minute) but averagely sits at 140 and above, you have to check out the early grime to really understand true grime, grime today is so commercialised it almost sounds like other genres
clash is drill really but it defo has grime essence
@@djlunarmcr4414 I disagree but I can see why you'd put it down as drill. UK drill is also mostly at 140 BPM too
Clash is for sure drill, but UK drill has that grime influence, sometimes bigger sometimes smaller, because ofc it does. It's mostly on the beats but sometimes you hear it in the flow. Internationally, drill scenes have that grime DNA too because of UK export and now even US drill (especially Brooklyn) is bringing it in, they're all chatting over UK producers. The Woo? Welcome to the Party? 808Melo, UK producer, same guy did Headie's Know Better before
Modern UK Drill songs are pretty much GRIME now, it no longer has the original sonics of Chicago Drill like Cheef Keef and King Louie... UK Drill has OUR unique sound now, at 140bpm... and as soon as you touch around 140bpm you're in GRIME territory...
I would put Dave & Stormzy - Clash as GRIME... like I would put a lot of modern Drill songs as GRIME too... for instance... M1llionz - B1llions is essentially Ruff Sqwad - Be Together, listen to them back to back. We should be proud of our own culture and sonics and not cat the names of genre's from other countries.
You are by far the best reactor in the world - thank you for all of your posts
Fam this one ive been waiting on yessssss
6yrs on and still a masterpiece from an og legend.
Love your reactions, the way you explain is DOPE
This is such an amazing reaction. Some of the faces you pulled had me laughing 😂
You caught more bars than any other reaction channel I’ve seen…and I’ve seen a lot 👏🏼👏🏼
Mate just want to say enjoyed this a lot. Your ear is well dialed in to the UK accept and picking so much up.
So glad you’ve finally heard Kano!
Kso you the GOAT, man knows his shit
Bruh Kano is too crazy! You have to get to little simz tho! "Introvert" or "Venom" would be a great introduction!
Some of these UK rappers are in the Netflix series Top Boy. They have bars and can act!
Top Boy gives you a picture of the background of the streets of the UK where these artists come from. Essential viewing!
Looking forward to watching your future uk reaction 💯 keep up da hard work bro. Your appreciated 💪🏾 😎
Loved this reaction!! Kano is one of the UK GOATS 🔥🔥🔥
AYYYYYY LETS GOOO. HAVEN'T WATCHED YET BUT SO HYPED FOR THIS.
Mic Righteous PT 4 FITB! 🔥
You MUST watch TOP BOY! Features Kano and dave.
Also bro, Ghetts Album 'Conflict of interest' is possibly the best body of work to come out of our country. I highly recommend.
of all the Americans reactions to uk Rapper, i must say kso has a brilliant understanding of the flows, always gives a pretty accurate break down ........ love the appreciation he shows for the game
Best reactor , cracking me up with the ikea thing 😂 ive watched every reactor out there over the years and you my new favourite
Loving the new merch with you and milk on it!
Kano is the shit!!! So so so many tracks from him you'd love KSO!
Next Kano you should do is teardrops at the rated awards the visuals and bars are insane
LOW-KEY FIRE IN THE BOOTH Kso I need to see u on this one FR
Knew you'd love Kano! you should watch "Kano Performs "Teardrops" | Rated Awards 2020"
You didn't know Kano was a king in this rap ish, he really is and uk got a few rap kings that deserve to be mentioned with anyone.
you are the only one who got the missy elliott bar i effing love you ❤
Nah KSO your the best reactor out here man by far 😂 the facial experessions fam. Too jokes
These mans are what hiphop used to be in the US in the 90’s - early 00’s. Story telling, intelligence and depth. Prideful. Unique
I’ve watched so many reactions to this song… forget the song.:: your commentary changed me tonight.. thank you
Kano is a uk/grime legend
Kano is my favourite UK artist. His longevity in the scene is mad and he’s so flexible on a track
Absolutely 💯 loved this reaction, seeing the passion you have for the UK artist bigging it up in the US.
Definitely check out Akala fire in the booth 1 to 4
The vid starts with you saying, I might have to say this is trash because I can't love every UK rapper. Then fast forward and my guy has pen and paper out doing actual arithmetic to break down a bar! Absolutely love it 😂😂😂
Aaaand i just finished! I knew you would love this one. He one of the real OGs.
Biggest difference between grime and rab would be BPM. Grime around 140, rap around 80-90 give or take.
Kano started on grime but has done rap tunes. As have a lot of his peers. "How we living" would be one of his rap tunes where as "P's and Q's" would be a more traditional grime joint.
Loving the reactions! Keep it up!
You’re the best at this, no doubt
My favourite UK rap! So glad you picked up kano bro, check out some more you won't be disappointed 😊👊
Your speaking big facts when it comes to speaking about 2pac and understanding previous greats in the industry
You got a subscriber after this.. You actually get it, this is the only scene where they still call themselves MC's. They still freestyle over DJ sets at parties. They embody hip hop over there. Also gthis is rap, Grime is usually 140 BPM, and definitely has Danchall influences from the slang and wheel ups on the decks.
I wish reactors would watch until the end.
“and…that was one take” “oh what, they ain’t all one take?”
Understand there’s levels
Oooooooo. Myyyyyyyyyy goooooood. I forgot how hard this specific fire in the booth. And I’m from the uk so I’ve automatically got super high expectations from uk artist. Wooooooow
KANO BOSSIN IT🇬🇧💯💪
Man had the epileptic seizure 😂😂😂😂 spent the while video with his bottom lip curled, I'm dead 😂 brother you're too funny with it man keep doing your thing. Love
Grime is a type of rap. The lyricism is of a high, high level, the flow is skippy, pockets are different, it's original underground rap. It's 2 hours of freestyles on pirate radio to beats that you've never heard before. Best MCs in the world
Kano one of them boys that made this amazing Uk rap scene what it is today
You still need to react to Ocean Wisdom, he has songs with method Man, akala, dizzie, ghetts. Start with Ocean Wisdom - Voices in my head.
agreeeeed
YESSSSSSS!!!! CLICKED SOOO FAST!
Yeah man we got the rappers 🇬🇧💯👊
You need to check out Chip next. In fact, Chip, Kano and Wretch 32 have a song together
Grime, rap, drill, pop, rock, dance ... that's all irrelevant when you listen to Kano it's just pure talent and goosebumps! Glad you got to finally react to him 👏
Dave and Kano star in Netflix series of top boy….. watch it, you’ll love it
Bashy as well, not so well known as a rapper now (producer) but his tune Black Boys was a classic. DeShawn played by Asher D aka. Ashley Walters has 5 solo albums & 2 with So Solid Crew.
One bar you may not understand “running through the 6 with my woes like Drizzy said/but there’s an E on the beginning of that; I represent” - E6 is the post code (zip code) for East Ham, the part of London Kano’s from
Great reaction bro & the story behind is,is that Ghetts and Wretch have done a couple of fire in the booths and they’ve also pestered Kano to do one & why he said that in the end.So the Fire in the booth with Avelino was declared the best fire in the booth, before Kano done this & also if he check out THE MOVEMENT fire in the booth is the best which has Ghetts,Wretch,Scorcher & Mercs in it.For your free time check out the Lord of the Mics battle rap with Wiley and Kano, they were like teenagers and just spitting bars on a stairway 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bro you need to watch Kano and ghetts ‘Class of deja’ (Deja was an old school grime pirate radio station) it has my favourite Kano bar ever.
“In East London where weapons get drawn, Cv’s read and get torn”
Yess kso the passion you have is what we need! You need to check scorcher and wretch 32 crib sessions ... scorcher is one of the goats you haven't reacted to you need to check him gg love from uk
Finally the goat. He was in a crew with ghetts back in the day
Kano is that dude. If it wasn’t for his accent/delivery, he’d be much bigger than he already is. Kano has been my favourite since I started listening to rap
a artist called wiley invented the term 'Grime', Wiley began producing Grime music in 2002 and created 'Eskibeat', which is widely considered as the first ever Grime song. Previous to this moment, the genre was roughly seen as style of Garage music. wiley is also know as the godfather of Grime as he was the first to do it.
He was a fairly generic garage MC in PAYG Crew but the Eskimo & Igloo beats were so different & when other MCs started using them on the pirates it basically created grime. But then Davinche, Terrah Danjah, Wonder etc. did it differently again...😮
Kano is an even better actor.... Sully from top boy deserves an Oscar 😎
Kano Class of Deja live at Maida Vale one of best live performances I've watched and it features Ghetts 👌
When you brought out the pen and pad for the 14 years 1.6 line, I felt that shit!!!
Kano the best to ever do it
react to “kano - trouble” the full 15 minute version, gives you an inside perspective of the uk scene
I chuckled at the when I'm 40 bit...I'm 42 & was in the UK hip hop scene since I was 18. Roots Manuva, Blak Twang, Taskforce, London Posse, Skinnyman, Jehst & this was only just before Kano dropped P's & Q's and Dizzee dropped I Luv U. That was over 20 years ago 15:07 15:07 15:07 😂 British rap has been smashing it, just now people are paying attention!
this my go too reaction. best break down and appreciation of skill that most miss. this probably the 50th time i've watched it😂. get on potters training day 3 tracks bro
All love my man you got this g more grime reaction
Kano had Kso doing maths equations 🤣 you the 🐐 reactor bro 😎
Wow you done Kano 🤩🤩🤩🔥
Yo, love from the UK, loving the reactions man. You should check out Home by Knucks and also Straight Rhymez by Aitch, two sick tunes. Keep up the sick content 🙌🏻
Can’t believe you’ve not done Lowkeys fire in the booth yet!!
Kano is old skool legend , got so many bangers , check out the song Deja vu ft ghetts and double 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I know you said you don’t like UK Drill, and to a certain extent I agree, but there are some seriously talented artists in that genre. Abra Cadabra, Headie One, Blanco, those guys are real lyricists and take the genre further away from the usual repetitive sound of UK Drill
I’m not that big into drill myself but yeah some Drill artists are serious musicians. Like these man you named, and MizorMac and couple others
@@sr81 yeah Miz is top tier as well tbh, there’s a lot of other artists with potential but they won’t reach it if they keep making the same repetitive or gimmicky sound
Yeah he's nice ... he's also one of the main actors in the show Top Boy which is dope also
