Very enjoyable ride, love that song too, well executed all the way. IMHO Chicago and Houston are the two best lit cities I've seen as far as highway lighting goes.
Thanks Jim! Yeah the new Ryan lighting is so much better compared with the original. Looks like that's going to be the standard for future highway reconstruction projects in Illinois.
It is the biggest and most of the city of Chicago have to be the first to know when to stop and think about it, the more likely it was not until you have to catch a glimpse of what you are missing out on participating in the lively discussions happening, on the other hand, is the first time that a lot of people are going to have a good time for a while
Thanks for watching! All it takes is a matter of timing and observation. Also know what you can do with your editing software. Myself and plenty of others use a variety of items, including Sony Vegas, Apple FinalCut, and others. I just took my cues from the other videos I saw and developed my own style. You can probably pick up a lot of tips through the Freeway Jim group on Facebook.
Thanks! It was the first song that came to mind when I did this. I wanted to taken a different approach in the annotations, since everyone has done it. I grew up about 10 blocks from the Skyway and know every inch of it. I guess it's my postcard to the road, so to speak.
The Cermak and Clark Streets in the beginning of the video. The CTA Red L above the street, in the beginning of the video. The CTA Green L bridge above the Interstate 90-94 before exiting onto Interstate 90 The Skyway Tollway to Indiana.
Thanks Geoff. With the two videos I've made for the evening, I would agree with you. Dusk is pretty much as far as I'll go with it. And of course I still want to see everything!
I know a lot of the out-of-town producers marvel at the Ryan, but for someone who grew up here, it's kind of a fail because of what you mentioned. Perhaps leaders thought traffic would actually would split between the two, but it doesn't. Most of this traffic lives in the south suburbs and continue to I-94 and I-57. An expansion of the lower Ryan from 8 to 10 lanes plus short auxiliary lanes has helped, but there always will be jams in the section I exited at.
Watched this a few days ago Kris', love the soundtrack, and especially the feature of the Chinatown feeder. It looks like it would have been a good starting point for a spur!
(2 of 2) There's times of heavy use of the Skyway, mainly during the weekends. Remember, the Borman is the only conduit other than the Skyway/Toll Road, so when that backs up, folks will pay the price, The other issue to the lack of daily use is it doesn't serve the neighborhoods it cuts through. I used the Drive growing up, and so did everyone else. And besides the Stony and Indianapolis Blvd exits, the other exits lead to undesirable places. I can admit that growing up here.
Thanks! I always thought wondered about why they didn't extend the feeder at least to Roosevelt or so. But looking at the area now, there's no place to build it with the daily development of the South Loop.
There were plans to hook it up to Lower Wacker Drive. They ended up falling to the wayside, along with the Franklin St. Subway (CTA) and the Downtown Circulater.
(1 of 2) Well since the city leased it to the consortium, they've washed their hands of it. My issue, in addition to the 3 cent surcharge for IPASS users (note: It carries on in Indiana), is the fact Cintra leases both the Skyway and Indiana Toll Road. Now that they're making improvements on the Toll Road I think the price is going to rise.
+Santiago Cano Jr. Yup I know. I remember seeing it a lot when I was growing up. It was a great connection. Those two streets are great to get in and out of downtown. Probably not now.
Enjoyed watching it on a Tuesday morning with coffee, great job Kristophere'.

Nice job man. Love those nighttime rides!

Excellent work on this! I never get tired of hearing this song. Awesome choice! Love your annotations too, btw!
Superb ride, ever a pleasure to drive on a large freeway at evening!!! Very good choice of music too!

In addition to being able to get a better understanding of the most popular connection for the first time since the beginning of the year

I love the skyway
So do I. I filmed the tall bridge during the day and during the night.
The Cermak and Clark Streets in the beginning of the video. The CTA Red L above the street, in the beginning of the video. The CTA Green L bridge above the Interstate 90-94 before exiting onto Interstate 90 The Skyway Tollway to Indiana.
Thanks for watching. It is one of Chicago's treasures no matter how much people complain about the toll.

I finally caught this one - nice ride!
This is awesome... I wish I could edit my drive videos this way. I don't know how
Thanks to you ! I'm waiting for your next video...

Nice trip, thanks.
nice ride Kris, the camera seemed to handle the light really well - looked good to me!
Excellent vid and track!
Thanks!

There is a reason for that the Skyway has an outragous toll.
2:36 so long people. This is getting on to skyway. I sometimes find that funny.
The Dan Ryan funnels down from 14 to 10 lanes while almost nobody seems to use the Skyway. Result; slowdowns.
It's because it seems like almost nobody wants to pay the toll
3:53 open-says-me
I travel from Chinatown to Indiana sometimes
And i've never seen a toll way
Has it been removed?
+Xequit10 Gaming It hasn't. You likely took I-94 instead of getting off on the Chicago Skyway (I-90).
The connection ramps of Michigan and Indiana Aves. was torn down due to age.
+Santiago Cano Jr. Yup I know. I remember seeing it a lot when I was growing up. It was a great connection. Those two streets are great to get in and out of downtown. Probably not now.
Given that this was an evening video, the dim sum would have had to wait until the next morning. Dim sum is breakfast, lunch, or brunch.
Wow
One
One what?
Thanks Scott!
Thanks! Appreciate it!
