To understand the concept of the mv is important to know that "Nox" who they refer to in the lyrics is the goddess and personification of the night. In greek mythology she's known as Nyx but the roman equivalent is Nox( it also quite literally means night in latin) My interpretation is that the man appearing in peoples dreams is jeonghan; they both seem to have the power to manipulate others through dreams. Jeonghan seems to have lost his special someone/muse... the one who eats with him on the long table and is represented covered in a white sheet(?). So he dives into the dreamworld to escape reality and to find his loved one there. Wonwoo on the other hand believes in facing reality and wakes up all the people jeonghan has put to sleep. The end is a little bit confusing to me but maybe the dreamworld ends up becoming jeonghans own nightmare as he becomes more and more lost which is what leads to wonwoo being able to finally catch jeonghan and make him wake up
@@sabihaishra2338 thats what i said in my comment that it translates to night but to add more context to the dream concept it also made sense for them to refer to the night godess who is also called "nox", it can refer to both
yeah what you said is connected to the story line. Jeonghan puts people to sleep and gives them sweet dreams but he is trapped in them. Wonwoo wakes everyone whom Jeonghan puts to sleep and finally helps Jeonghan to snap back to the real world from the dream world. But I don't know what exactly happens to Wonwoo afterwards. Maybe now he is trapped there instead of Jeonghan and becomes 'THIS MAN'. This is just a theory based on my understanding. Anyone who understands it better can add or correct☺☺
You know, nothing to do with the actual MV, but with the teasers for this unit, I never really knew what to expect. I never even really thought these two would do something with just the two of them. But this has instantly become my favorite song so far this year!
Btw not to be that person but i strongly believe the reason we got a release from this unit is because of military enlistment, they are likely to be the first ones to go ( going in age order: scoups is exempt, jeonghan is next, joshua has american citizenship and Jun has chinese(so they dont have to enlist), Hoshi would be next but maybe he plans going later(i mean hes the performance leader so makes sense) and then theres Wonwoo.
Finally someone said this I've been needing to scream this from the rooftops when the collaboration was first I was like that's an odd parent and then I was like I saw their ages and I was like oh I know what this means but nonetheless this is an absolutely humongous masterpiece they do actually sound so good together and well yeah we're going to send them off pretty soon
Man I feel like this could be a whole kmovie! I’m expecting them to enlist soon 😢 I hope they do one last tour in the US before they do individual activities due to enlistments.
OK so my personal theory is that they are both like "Sandmen" and Jeonghan becomes tormented by memories of someone (POSSIBLY Wonwoo I'm not 100% sold down this lane of my theory but I think it COULD be) and he hasn't himself slept in a very long time and instead (in sleep deprivation torment) goes around putting other people to sleep with their best dreams at very inappropriate times because the waking world is so awful to him - and in the end Wonwoo finds him and puts him to sleep. He finally rests and wakes up to find Wonwoo left him some lemonade (caring for him to that measure as well) but isn't there. In my alternate expanded theory is that the person he misses is Wonwoo and he is acting up in his Sandman capacity to draw Wonwoo's attention as a cry for help or just to get him back into his life. Either way Jeonghan clearly wakes up in a seemingly much better state. I think we mostly see a lot of Jeonghan's perspective when he's walking dreamscape sort of land when things are covered - I think he's hiding from reality in other people's dreams. The buildings even being hidden. So when he wakes up and the color grading is warmer, this is the waking world/reality for him for the first time in such a long time.
rather than understanding mv i would just enjoy the song, this song is like a drug to me, i can't stop listening,, i'm just not looping it bcz it could hinder the stream,,,,just enjoy the song
please check b-sides as well on your channel ♥ we finally have JEONGHAN and WONWOO solo song and it would be awesome to see your reaction for that as well ☺
Jeonghan and Wonwoo had a livestream first thing this morning explaining the video if you're interested: ua-cam.com/users/liveKdbuKVwrBHg?si=WOOX9b0pvNkXje9e They're both "This Man"...one puts people to sleep, the other wakes them up. That's why the teaser poster face is 1/2 Wonwoo's face, and 1/2 Jeonghan's. The song is based on the urban/internet legend of "This Man" who has reportedly appeared in many people's dreams. (He's a REALLY creepy looking guy...just Google him...he has his own website!) "Nox" is the Latin name of the Roman goddess of the night (as mentioned by others). It was also used as a spell in Harry Potter to turn off lights. "Tarata" means "lemon wood", but refers to lemons, lemon juice and/or lemonade. Lemonade in the video represents life...both bitter and sweet versus the fantasyland found in dreams. And one thing more: Woozi wrote/composed this and assisted in its production. Just further proof of his SHEER GENIUS that he can master ALL styles of music! Kudos to Jeonghan and Wonwoo...but standing ovation to Woozi!!

Also wonwoo 🫠
😊Thank you very much for this video, Wonhan, I love you. The only flaw in the song is that it ends. I'm crying now. New addiction. ❤❤❤😢

Also some of the vocal backtrack was Woozi. Truly an amazing producer and composer 👏
