Peter - Yes am interested in this trial and hope you do more videos on it. Sometimes I can't watch cases that have very sad and sickening events. This is one that I am more comfortable with. Also there seems to be questions that would be interesting to explore. Thanks for all your videos! You are fun to listen to and I appreciate how fair you are in giving both sides of these cases and you do a great job of explaining to us regular people what is going on . Donna
Just a little info I didn’t know when I was caring for my Nan: if you see an increase or worsening of symptoms esp sundowning, have his doc check for a UTI. We dealt with her getting worse out of nowhere, and had to be hospitalized. Her symptoms ramped up because of an undiagnosed UTI that was only discovered when she was admitted. Idk why but UTI’s make everything way worse. ❤
Quite interesting to start a trial much like a jury, in that it's brand new to me and I have no prior knowledge of the incident/person(s) on trial. I did find the visuals that the prosecution used in their opening helpful. I appreciated your run-down and explanations, Peter -- it answered every question that popped into my head. Thanks, as always!
I wanted to watch this trial but missed opening statements. It is sooo much better watching things with you there to explain it all to us! Please continue to follow ! I don’t know anything about it either
Peter, off topic here, but do you have ads set to max? I know creators can turn ads on or off, but isn’t there a level you can choose? I understand ad revenue and have no problem with that, but on different channels I watch, the frequency differs from channel to channel so I am thinking there is a setting for frequency. It’s very very hard to keep up with you if ads interrupt so much. Back on topic, not watching a trial in real time and having you explain in your real time by pausing and explaining is really helpful. You explaining makes me think deeper. You mention questions you have & it helps me learn so if ever in the future I am ever a juror I will be a better juror because of you teaching all of us. You are a very good teacher, and we get to watch a trial too. Live trial watching is good too but I can’t always watch every day and I watch days on replay to catch up. I like both ways but do enjoy having you break it down as we watch it. I personally don’t know why this was even at the criminal level. Doesn’t seem to be a crime State would want to spend money on. If the civil suit is about money they could have just left it at the civil level right? Is it because it’s gun charges and state is obligated to charge him? Thanks Peter.
@@laurie6332 the creators don't have any control over the ads. I have had UA-cam premium forever but there aren't levels, either. Perhaps it's just more noticeable in these type of videos. I'm curious why you think it wasn't a crime. Im still trying to understand what happened but my understanding is that it was attempted murder if they can prove it was a real gun.
@@Somegirl811 Nik Starow has ads off during a live and sets them every half hour. The creator can change the frequency of the ads. YT is definitely pushing them more though with the longer ones. I have premium but they used to drive me crazy. 🤣
Rewatch crew here: This case is a little suspicious if you ask me. I watched both openings and I am not convinced that is a bullet graze which means that might have been a prop gun and the messages of the victim asking for money or saying he’s going to be rich is not sitting right with me. Glad I am not on that jury.
I am nearly convinced it's definitely a prop gun. That said, wouldn't it be illegal, especially in Cali, for such an act? Fake drugs are a certain charge, so discharge of a fake weapon would be too. Why not take the plea then? If it's a prop, the charge would carry 6mo. Doesn't make sense to risk it.
Not only he saying he is going to be rich but also he found the castings himself. Even after 7 police officers with flashlights couldn't find anything no castings no bullet holes anywhere yea this is definitely a money grab
The placement of the "victims" text by the prosecution made me feel like he was trying to be dismissive of them like "oh yeah btw the Rell wants money and he asked for it in that little two day wait period we mentioned". Putting it in chronological order would have felt more honest to me. Grade: B
Excellent presentation. Covered the events that took place but that's there argument. Let's hear the defence. Should have took 180 days. Does 4 moths. 😮😮😮😮
I'm very interested in how this case turns out. I've seen the lead prosecutor in various crime documentaries, where he has managed to win difficult cases. I have also seen Joe Tacopina in action, going back to the case of the wife in DE who murdered her husband and put him in suitcases.
I wouldn't have thought a judge would be allowed to sit on a jury, in the UK people with law experience are not allowed. Having said that, I'd like a judge on any jury sitting in judgement on me, more likely to understand the law 👍
Interested but the evidence seems pretty thin. Does this go to trial if the defendant is John Doe? Grainy video, both parties fighting, no gun recovered, not a real gun, not any significant injuries, can’t prove injuries came from gun, victim admits he’s out for money, victim calls police only after his demand for money was denied. So far I’m wondering why this is wasting taxpayers money. Lots of other serious crime in LA that isn’t being prosecuted due to a lack of resources. Backlog of rape kits need to be processed. But they have time and money for scrapped knuckles?!😂
Also... thank you for speeding up/slowing down the video of the case proceeding itself. Drives me crazy when it's so slow like that. But when you speak, it's just right. So thanks for making it so I don't have to constantly speed up/slow down the settngs myself. 😄
Thank you for helping us break this down. I too did not know who the defendant was. Now after watching this opening, I actually had to look up what the charges were. No real evidence was found by the police, no evidence of a gun even being fired, I call bull crap on the complainant coming back and planting “so called evidence; ie bullet casings” Definitely money extortion!!! Good for A$SP not taking the plea deal.
@ He tried to get $30 million from A&SP first. When that didn’t work, 2 days later he turned in the so called “pictures and bullet casing” to the police. It’s all about the money. If A$SP gets convicted for a criminal charges then civil charges are coming next.
I don't understand what this case is about. The suspect may have shot a real gun at the victim, but the victim has no gunshot injuries, just a couple of minor scrapes on his fingers no big deal. He didn't wait to speak to or show police what/where it happened, but instead investigated himself & calls police days later to say what, that he was shot at? I don't understand his point, or why the prosecution is prosecuting a case w/ no real victim? 🤷♀️
I can't stand asap rocky but this reminds me of the YSL trial. No evidence, stupid narrative. I'm in agreement with you, man. No gunshot wounds on the victim. No wounds at all outside of some scraped knuckles. And it was the "victim" who later went back and found the "evidence"? Strange. I'm sure these rappers and Hollyweirdos have actual skeletons in their closets, yet here we are, the state trying to charge this guy with attempted murder over some scraped knuckles. Dumb.
I think it all stems because the “victim” filed a civil case and was told he should file charges. That is just what I am assuming, but you know what happens when you do that.😂. This case seems so weird already.

ASAP Rocky Lawyer said he didn't take the plea because the Felony would hurt keep him from Performing in some countries don't know if that's true or not
Geesh I need to rewatch. I am not even sure what he is charged with. Maybe I missed Peter saying it. Now it makes more sense as to why he would fight it. Why is it a felony if cops didn’t even think a crime happened by the time they got there.
Color me shocked, cameras in the courtroom in CA? I’m no lawyer but this seems hard for the state to prove. (Plus picturing EDB at home in her native CA courtroom environment.)
Can you talk about how the state would “appeal” anything or how that process works? I obviously know how the defense would appeal and all that but what is the benefit for the state of getting it in the record for appeal if it doesn’t change anything? Cause if the defendant is found not guilty doesn’t double jeopardy automatically apply? So there would be no point in appealing it after or no remedy for a judge to be wrong as far as the state goes? Just curious what remedy the states have if the judge is wrong or how any of those processes play out as far as the state. If someone can explain it to me would be appreciated :)
Only heard of case night before as heard he turned down 180 day deal. Watched to find out why. Was with the state, until I'd heard defense. Will be watching the rest. Need something to fill sarah boone void lol
