Chronic pain is like smoking, you hide it. So many people dont leave a note, hey I have suffered chronic pain for so long and even though I tried to tell you, you didn't want to hear it. So, hopefully now you will understand how bad my pain was. But don't grieve because someone might tell you to buck up and deal with it.

People who are in daily chronic pain and nerve pain like myself are true warriors to get through each day dealing with chronic pain and the secondary depression that comes with it pain causes exhaustion fatigue , feelings of grieving the life you lost, immobility and fear of further issues caused by taking opiates for pain relief, but one cannot function without them. CP sufferers are not opioid addicts and merley need them to function with high levels of pain. Unless you are in this position , no one understands.

You said it perfectly. Exactly how I feel. The person on the panel laughing while explaining suicide annoys the hell out of me. It's no laughing matter.

My doctor said to me that he couldn’t risk being shut down because of his chronic pain patients because he had other patients to serve. To his credit he kept me on but I had to plead my case and prove myself beyond reason at the risk and cost of my own personal dignity. I could go on about what life is like with a now nearly 20 year daily battle with chronic pain but I won’t other than to say that it is a cruel kind of torture and loss and it sadly does not have to be this bad. We as a country have miserably failed people like me from our family and societal response to our healthcare response.

I think that percentage is much higher but it's covered up because chronic pain is not treated properly by doctors. But junkies can go to methadone clinics and get a pat on the back and get called brave. What a wonderful government we have presiding over us. I feel so safe.

I emphatize with your suffering and the fact that they refuse to give you proper painkillers makes me mad. But aren't you a bit harsh towards those who suffer from opioid addiction + various mental illness(es) which made them start using opioids? Don't forget that they also use opioids to alleviate suffering!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having to deal with physical pain(I wish I could help) and I believe that you had first hand experience with "your" mental pain. But you need to realize that you haven't experienced mental pain of others.
Don't underestimate anyone else's pain, remember that vast majority of those who commit suicide, do it due to severe mental suffering! Yes, I'm well aware that not a small number of people choose to do the same due to unrelieved physical pain.

Amen brother! Thank you! I was on them for years and was never addicted. I lost my doctor and was abruptly taken off of them. I have very bad birth spinal disease and fibromyalgia. I am in misery and no one cares. I need surgery on my spine and no one cares. Wisconsin sucks.

Omg thank you from the bottom of my heart! Me a disabled registered nurse who was injured at a psychiatric hospital in 2005 which led to a broken neck and steroids wiped out my immune system that resulted in Central Nervous system deregulation. I'm blessed because my doctor tried to fire me after 11 years cold turkey however we both agreed this could kill me as well as his medical practice. However no longer can we discuss medication management since narcotics eventually need to be rearranged to rest the receptor sites. However even on medication I'm alone isolated suffering and still in pain. Therefore life after 15 years and now 61 years old add loss of everything in my life. Suicide is normal since we have zero support as well as no future in site. And pain support groups are vast with junkies which leads to theft and exploitation. I currently have been unable to sleep for 2 days. Again thank you so much for honoring the plight of the leapors of society!!!

Wow. Just the idea of a doctor saying this is difficult and I believe you. That’s huge. In 36 years of chronic pain I have to say I have rarely heard that from any clinician. It’s more like just suck it up.

Look I had 2 failed cervical spinal fusions for past 25 years which was unbearable enough, but now I have severe osteoperosis and my whole spine has and continues to break just from normal daily activities. I can not sleep I live alone really cant shop or clean my house anymore my pain is neverending and agonizing. I HARDLY ever can even sleep. Look I get tired of thinking about suicide all the time already on antidepressants and opiods how can you say its mental. I have slapped a smile on my face for more than 25 years worked part time up til past couple years since osteoperosis pain is so agonizing. I live in Idaho we dont have death with dignity, what the hell is someone like me supposed to do. A person cant make enough money on disability to live now a days. I should not have to kill myself and put my family through that but come on....no one should have to suffer like this for this long. They say there is nothing else they can do for me and how can a person be left floundering like this. Im so done

Don't have fun? They don't need fun, the need work and money because they can't work. Most horrible pain sufferers can't get health care to even see a doctor at all and the other who somehow get insurance the doctors won't give them pain relief because of bureaucrats who know nothing about chronic pain.
