Your advice about turning the front button into the AE/Af button was really great, so simple and so fast to use. The button is right where your finger rests naturally as you hold the camera. It has changed my street shooting into a real pleasure, one less thing to not have to think about or hunt around for. Thanks so much.
I love the pictures you show on this video, great composition, color, contrast, everything. I also like how you share your enthusiasm and how you talk about the strong points of the camera. Thank you for posting this.
I'm late to the party here but I super dig my (2023 purchase my) X100F and was curious to know which built-in film simulation you were using when you shot these images (if you recall - all these years later). Or did you touch them up in in post? I enjoyed your clip/review and great images!
Great shots, great video! You never mentioned the leaf shutter, and I was wondering how important that was to you for high speed sync fill flash outdoors. I have 2 x-e2s's (I couldn't pass up on a $499 price for second body) with 35 f2, 18-55, 27, 54-200, and 10-24, but I also still have a Nikon D7100 and an a6000 with both kits and Zeiss 16-70 (underwhelming in my opinion). I think of the a6000 as my 24MP mirrorless. I'm very interested in x100F rather than buying the 23 f2 lens, for the leaf and as you show in the video, the beautiful pairing of the old lens, new sensor and the almost dreamlike 3 dimensional quality of images, which you proved with your photos. I think though most importantly, for the leaf shutter. How often do you find the need for the high speed flash sync? I need to get rid of some of these non-Fujis.
I really only covered the new features of the X100F. The leaf shutter has been used since the original X100 in 2011 so I didn't think there was much point to go over that again. The leaf shutter is fine. I don't shoot that much flash so that's not so important to me. But it does let you flash sync up to about 1/2000 second without issue. It's also super quiet. K.
Street Shootr Thank you, and yes you are right! Poorly worded as there are really many other reason to buy over all the older variations of the x100 series. I guess more to the point was how important you thought that feature was in general, just given it is something I hadn't considered much before but saw some beautiful daytime action shots in sunlight using the high speed flash sync in another article. I was curious how often, if ever you used out on the street, which you answered. You're shots are fantastic! Thanks again for your reply.
I'm getting much more attracted to this camera the more I research it. Thinking about my existing gear, there definitely is a place for this camera. It is such a different experience shooting on the street with smaller-sized camera than a DSLR.
Street Shootr I don't know how you can't. Got used to it in a second and it's great to be able to adjust the iso even when the camera's off to save battery and have it ready as soon as you turn it on.
I can see why some people hate the new ISO dial and why Fuji added the dial option, but I still think it needs to be there to complete the design vision, allowing you to see all the exposure settings at a glance without needing to switch the camera on. You also have the ability to choose a custom/auto setting and sacrifice that ability, but one thing I really like is that if a dial says a number, IT IS THAT NUMBER! It never overrides a “real” setting with something commanded from a dial.
What exactly is beautiful about Havana? Unless now poverty, suppression of people, and super old unpainted cracked buildings, and cars from 1950's with engine parts from washing machines is now considered beautiful?...I am Cuban-American, and I amazed at this stupidity. The only thing Cuba has left that is picture worthy are SOME of it's beaches and that is about it. Downtown Havana looks like it was bombarded in World War II.
+Street Shootr :) It wasn't a judgement anything. It's more of like how I still feel uncomfortable around the A7 despite being hidden under a ball of duct tape.
Just wanted to pop by and say that I love your videos and your personality! You're great to watch and really funny and authentic. :) And your street photos are simply stunning. I'm dying to get this camera, but am hesitant about the autofocus, as I'm a fast DSLR run and gun shooter. All my previous pocket cameras I ended up not using much, because they're just too slow for me for improvised street action. I'd love to have this camera, but I worry that the same thing will happen to me again. Thanks for the great video!
Manual focus would be a really great feature to have in this camera, especially for those who are going digital after shooting film, focusing is like a second nature, i do miss that in fuji.
@Street Shootr And what do you prefer. The xt2 with a 27 mm or x100f. I have now a xt3 and xt2 and like to trade the xt2 for a x100f just for the size. Is a xt2 with a 27 mm really that small?
I'm not a huge fan of the 27mm lens - I'm more of a 35mm FOV kind of shooter. The X100 series has always been high on my list but at this point? I'm eagerly waiting for the X100(whateverthenextoneiscalled) which is likely just around the corner!
very good documentary. congrats. beautiful shots. I appreciate. I really think to equip myself with this fuji. I have to sell before my Olympus OMD M5 MkII with the lenses. Honestly. Just one question : the menu... are they easy ?
Kristijan Franjo Ivančić All shots in my Havana C100F review are Provia / Standard jpgs with contrast and brightness adjusted to taste. There was no Lightroom RAW support when the review was filmed...
im worried about one thing: the fixed lens . just saying if something bad happens to the lens like scratches or you drop and the lens crack on the metal bends its pretty much over no? tell me your oppinion since you use it
Just because a fixed lens camera breaks doesn't mean it's beyond repair. I generally put a clear filter on the lens to protect the front element from scratches and call it a day. If the damage is so bad that the entire camera is a write off then you'd probably have done the same amount of damage to a camera with an interchangeable lens attached. 6 of one half a dozen of the other...
Carlos Alfronos C. A true manual focus lens has the focus ring directly coupled to the elements it moves. Modern af lenses are "fly by wire" and introduce a measure of lag as a result.
I adjust brightness and contrast to taste depending on the shot. But those are pretty much out of camera jpgs in the Standard (Provia) setting. The Fuji X100F is an amazing little camera!
@@karledwards Fantastic! Amazing camera it is for sure (but ofcours also a good eye behind that lens for the inspiration). I'm doubting between this x100f or a x-T1......🤔 What to do 😁
Elmar van H. XT1 feels a little long in the tooth at this point so for me the X100f feels better. A new x100 has to be just around the corner though...
@@karledwards Long in the tooth...🤔 Others say it's still a very good camera in 2019, but I know, that's a matter of personal opinion probably. I'm still attracted by both camera's.
@@elmario74 It's still a perfectly capable camera but you're looking at sensor tech that's 3 generations and 5 years old at this point. That's a lifetime in the digital! It'll work but unforunately it can't hold a flame to the current crop of Fuji cameras... :)
Hey man, is the 23mm f2 lens on the X100F the same as the 23mm f2 for the XT-10 in regards to image quality and that unique 3d look you liked about the X100F lens? Cheers!
No, you're talking different sensors and different glass... The look I'm talking about is specific to the X100F. That's not to say you won't get good results from the XT-10 and 23mmm f/2 but it's just not going to be the same.
Tyler Aldrich that's a tough one... all three are excellent but I ended up with the XT2 this time around. Love the form factor of the x100 but the fantastic evf on the XT2 really sealed the deal for me. You can't go wrong with any of the three though...
Hey Street Shootr, Great video and I agree, Great photos with the X100F! The body itself reminds me of my old Mamiya 135 EE, the first camera I ever shot with, I was 12 y.o.! My question though: Which camera do you use to film yourself blogging (or Youtubing)?
flyerbluedog haha! You found the answer! This one was filmed in 4k with the XT2-20 but in the studio I use canon cinema gear. Going to check out the gh5 next week so that might become my main camera for everything. Have to see though! The XT20 worked quite well for this project but you'll see the autofocus slips to the background from time to time. Probably end user error but hey... I can only do so much! LOL!
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but does the camera come with that red shutter button? Looking into this model and I've seen quite a few for sale that have them and some without, is that an aftermarket personalization thing?
I actually really don't mind the iso dial on the x pro. Certainly not as easy as the x t2 but you do get used to lifting and turning while looking through the viewfinder. I had a Fujica st605n in the late 70s and that had a similar function.
Hi Steven, Like I said, there's no shortage of people who "don't mind" the ISO dial. Or who think it's "okay". But overall just about everyone would rather it was something else. This being said, it's not enough to turn me off of Fuji's products. They are definitely pushign the boundaries of usability with the super small dial on the X100F though. The ability to use the front dial to change ISO came in handy more than once! But all in all, it's a great little camera!
your video amongst others convinced me to get this little cam :) pretty excited about it. coming from an xt10 with the 35mm f2 lens, are you finding the x100f lens to be soft wide open/close up? not a deal breaker for me, just curious about your thoughts on it and how you're liking the camera Thus far. cheers :)
Hi Nathan, All my thoughts on the camera are pretty much outlined in the video. I haven't picked up a copy for myself just yet so I don't have much more to say on it. As for the lens, all I can say is I'm a street guy. So shooting wide open at close distances really doesn't come up for me that often (if at all!) I can say that this lens has been in use since hte original X100 was released. People definitely have opinions on its quality and this topic has come up more than once. Really no lens is perfect for everything. It's a matter of determing how you shoot and getting the most of whatever lens you happen to have. You may be spoiled coming from the 35mm f/2 though - that lens has a fair share of its own magic going on! :) K.
11:00 thats exactly what i said manual focus with depth of field and distance scale. This camera will be the leica killer just like the minolta cl film camera. I gonna go ahead and spam fujifilm about this so they will do it on the next release X100L - L for Leica Killer
Unfortunately Fuji know this won’t sell. Plus they previously specialised in compact medium af cameras. However, personally I agree with you. My solution? Xpro with m lens mounted. I use m rokkor lens , so almost a cle, great combo. Currently using an even smaller 7artisans 35mm f1.2, which seems even better! After using manual focus on manual lens af seems wrong.
I have a 100s, is the upgrade to the F worth it or better go with the XT2? I know that its personal but still like to hear your opinion. Thanks. I promise no more questions.
Havana is the kind of place where you can just wander and let the world reveal itself to you. My only tips would be to pay attention to the light and stay away from the tourist areas. Head out into the real Havana and wander like Daido's stray dog... Let your instincts guide you to new and interesting situations.
You were absolutely right! At the first day, I was a little shocked by the "craziness" of Havana, but then I came back and enjoyed it very much! With the light, it can really get difficult, especially during noon, where the sun hits hard.
The light was amazing! I didn't have much problem at noon - sort of trained myself to shoot on the shady side of the street when it's lunch time :) We typically took a break for a couple hours around 12 and got lunch or went back to the apartment to rest up a bit. Then headed back out around 2 which gave us plenty of time to walk to our afternoon destinations in time for the afternoon light!
Thanks for this review..It helped me make up my mind. Very engaging review...By the way can you please tell me the name of song and artist you played in your video?
Great video, loved your honesty. I've ordered this camera roday, 7 Jan 2018, I already own the XT1 and the X70, but I've heard so much about the x100f I decided to bite the bullet and get one, I used to own the x100s but the autofocus just killed me. As for Havana been there a few times myself, great safe place to go, get the odd Knob Head, but compared to most major city's it's a safe friendly place to visit.
BlueZ the auto focus is spot on. If had no problems with it. My old X100s was a nightmare at auto focus and I kept hold of it for longer than I should only because the photos where so good and it looked smart Lol. Whereas the X100F is BANG on and the photos are JUST FANTASTIC. I added a few to one of me UA-cam videos, says sol palmeros video and photos "video was with a Gopro", but all the photos at the end where jpeg from the X100F
Great review, very informative and helpful and I love your delivery style, very enthusiastic and funny. Puts most of the others to shame. Where did you get that neck strap, it looks really cool?
Simple, the dp2m IQ will blow the doors off the x100 as long as you shoot iso 400 or lower. Most you tuber photogs have never used one. If they had they would realise there is no substitute ;-)
for me, weather sealing would be nice. but there is no way i would ask for a 1.4 lens. It'll only make the lens bigger and no longer jacket pocketable. I'd just buy an xpro2 if that's the case.
Hey man long time fan on your stuff. From one street photographer to another I really appreciate the information you give everyone. On an u related note I was wondering if you knew the purpose of the little plastic piece that comes with the neck strap pieces. It's a black asymmetrical circular-ish piece of plastic. I've been shooting photography professionally for more than 10 years and I still have no idea lol. I used to not care but now I think I need to know. It's bothering me. Any ideas?
I think you're talking about the little wedge bit. I use it to open up the d-rings so i can get them on the posts of the camera. Not sure if that's its official use but it's saved my nails more than once!
Pr0xyPunk I'm a big fan of the standard simulation (provia I think). If you're into black and white the acros with yellow filter looks pretty darn nice too.
Thanks Smita! If you decide to purchase one it would be great if you used one of my affiliate links (in the description). It doesn't cost you any extra but I get a small commission that helps keep the channel running!
I am seriously considering to buy this but I am in dilemma between x100f and x-t20. Internet research is not pointing me to a definitive answer to that. Do you have any perspective on that?
Kamal Aakarsh Vishnubhotla same sensor and processor in both. Xt20 let's u change lenses if that's important then go xt20. I'm a street guy so the 35mm fov of the x100f works great for me...
Hi Sebastian, Full size versions of my images can be found in the written review over on StreetShootr - www.streetshootr.com/fuji-x100f-street-photography-review/
Not yet, but it's definitely on my list. I've spent the summer shooting with my phone, actually! I've got a lot to say about shooting mobile - watch for that video in another month or so...
I took another look at the video and paused @ 11:50 and it looks like he's using the one made for the "T" part# LMX100T. I will wait till they have one specifically for the "F" model.
Sam Saliba it's the Lensmate grip made for the T. Works fine but partially blocks the AEL/AFL button and makes changing ISO frustrating at best. But I can live with that - needed a grip for the trip and it's all I had!
Those Lensmate thumbrests are the business. I have one for my X-Pro2 and it makes the camera feel so much more secure in the hand. It cost a bit to buy and to send here to the UK but well worth it. Oh, and the one for my X-Pro2 has a hinge so I can move it out the way easily when I need to change ISO/Shutter speed.
One thing I can tell you for sure is that there will ALWAYS be a successor coming for every camera. Get the best camera you can today and start shooting. The work matters more than the machine in the end! This being said, the X100F is a great little camera and Fuji usually updates on a 2 year cycle so you've still got time before the next one shows up.
I can't answer that question for you. Really depends on your needs and which camera suits you personally. Both are great choices... But there are many reasons so many street guys shoot with the X100F...
Just watched your XPro2 video before watching this video and have a dilemma. I have a XT10 but just prefer the handling of the Fuji Rangefinder style. I like to do some landscape and have some cool vintage manual lens as well as the XF 18-55 which I think is pretty good. But my love is traveling with my charity to take portraiture of local people. The XPro2 looks perfect especially as you mentioned pairing it with the 35mm f2. So... I’m not sure to go XPro1 to dabble with my manual lens as I don’t need AF for landscape and get a X100F for travel and portraiture and have the ability to travel light or just go XPro2 to do Landscape and travel.
My pleasure John... Do me a favor and use my affiliate links if you decide to purchase one. Doesn't cost you anything and the little commission I receive helps me make videos like this one!
Actually, having the ISO dial within the shutter speed dial IS the best system you can have if you learned with largely manual cameras (when "A" mode was cutting edge) All my old analogue cameras have it, and once you've gotten the hang of it, it's beyond brilliant, because you can change all your settings by touch and counting clicks. BTW, the option to skip an intro doesn't acknowledge that nobody likes it, but that some people might not. And as always, now that we finally got a digital camera with all the classic dials and aperture rings, the disappearance of which we have been lamenting for decades (they started to disappear before DSLRs were really a thing), of course some people have got to come along and say "get rid of them". Frankly, f you want the specs of the x100f but can do without the classic handling, you can get any number of cameras and save yourself a couple hundred bucks in the process. Being able to handle the thing blindly, the way I handle my film cameras, after a while, is pretty much the only sane (ish) reason to shell out semi-serious DSLR money for a fixed prime compact with 24 MP.
I've been shooting for over 30 years and have a B.A.A. in photography from Ryerson University in Toronto. I learned to shoot on all manual film cameras and only a handful of those cameras have had the ISO dial integrated into the shutter dial. It was an acceptable comprimise in the film days when you'd only change the ISO value when you changed your film stock but modern digital photography means we're often adjusting ISO shot to shot. A more nimble solution like the one on the X-T2 or even the venerable Leica M10 is certainly a better choice. Does the integrated ISO dial work? Yes. But it's far from a perfect solution. As it turns out, this isn't enough to turn me away from the Fuji X100F (or X-Pro2). Both are excellent cameras in spite of this one "feature". ;)
Didn't ditch it exactly but definitely moved on from Leica. Fuji was the natural choice from a usability standpoint - plus the XPro2 and X100F have optical viewfinders which comes in handy from time to time. Never looked back!
Street Shootr Interesting to hear as I'm considering getting an M9. I had the XPro2 and the x100f and while they are great cameras I was missing the full frame look/ shallow DoF.
DarkRami Full frame look is tangible but my work hasn't suffered at all since going to crop sensor. It's all how you orchestrate the contents of the frame at the end of the day. DOF is about the same with equivalent lenses on crop sensor cameras... All in all though the m9 is nearly a decade old at this point. A major step backward from a technical standpoint: and ya, I've heard every argument about the magic of the m9 sensor but I'd much rather be able to shoot above 800 ISO without banding in the sky :)
Street Shootr I have moved to an A7rII which gives me awesome IQ for portraits. It's small enough to do street photography when I slap the Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8. Is the CCD "magic" real or is it just hype? By the way I'm Cuban. Born and raised in Havana.
Depends who you ask. Might have seemed magical in 2009 but it just doesn't hold up to modern sensors. But don't get me started on Sony gear. Great sensors (arguably the best on the market today) but I can't get past their user interface. As a photographer Fuji wins that race hands down every time. Cuban? We'll have to meet up next time I'm down there!!
Havne't reviewed the A6500 so I can't speak about that camera. But I'm not a fan of the Sony interface in general. If you're looking for a better shooting experience it's hard to knock Fuji. And the X100F is a great little camera so there ya go!
Thanks, I was comparing and thinking about the XT-2. Also, for a travel camera video is important to me if I want to grab a quick video. On occasion I do like to edit the video etc. How does the X100F do on the video side and or the other Fuji's ?
Simon Bear the XT2 is also amazing but a different beast from the x100f. I've been shooting with the XT2 for the past couple months and while it took a little bit to get used to the form factor... I'm really digging it. There's probably and x100f in my future though. Fuji cameras are like Pokemon... gotta get 'me all!
Youssef Hamidi I agree that it's not quite as good as other Fuji Lenses but it's never really been a problem for me... Mine is usually set at f8 all the time anyway 🙂
Ya... this is a camera review on UA-cam so you can pretty much expect me to TALK about the camera. I've said this many times - if you're judging a camera's capabilities by viewing images in super-compressed UA-cam videos then you're missing the entire point of photography. While there are plenty of sample images in the video you can find more full size samples in the written review over on StreetShootr.com.
You say having 2 different ways of changing ISO is dumb, but having 2 different ways of framing your shot with OVF/EVF is nice because you have choice? How's that make sense.
Your analogy of flash intros to websites, with the Skip button, saying "it's like you knew I wanted to skip this" (paraphrasing). How do you figure that analogy isn't being critical?
1 - It's a review. It's my job to be critical. 2 - The VERY. next sentence I say is "On the one hand it's great, I love having choice. But it's also Fuji acknowledging that people don't actually like the top dial." Not sure what point you're trying to make but it's just not supported by the video.
They're giving people a choice. Just like they give people the choice of OVF/EVF. Just like they give lots of other choices of how to do things with the camera. It's not acknowledgement that people don't like it. You're projecting because *you* don't like it. If you don't like it, that's totally cool, it's your opinion, but saying Fuji gave that option because they know the dial is bad is nonsense.
Troll Of Justice what's nonsense is your line of reasoning. You said yourself it's an analogy. It's not Intended to imply intent. I'm pretty sure I even use the words "it's almost like" before I make the statement to which you reference. Troll someone else. Your argument has no foundation.
Damn you! Now I have find a buyer for my X100t and shell out more of my hard earned cash. You're despicable. All kidding aside, great review, as it did help me to decide to upgrade.
Your advice about turning the front button into the AE/Af button was really great, so simple and so fast to use. The button is right where your finger rests naturally as you hold the camera. Is the x100 system that rain sensitive? I've used XE variants forever and never been precious with them and never had a problem.
It's not about being precious with the camera. But the fact remains that it has virtually no weather sealing. So, ya. It's really that rain sensitive.

Absolutely love your reviews! Would love to see more!
Manual focus would be a really great feature to have in this camera, especially for those who are going digital after shooting film, focusing is like a second nature, i do miss that in fuji.
You can also set the back wheel button to autofocus, I find it easier than the button on the eve/ovf selector
i.b. mac yup! That works too! For me that button has too long of a throw to be quick. It to each their own! :)
@@karledwards ah oke thanks i think you make the decsision for me 😁 It's the x100f then thanks again.
very good documentary. congrats. beautiful shots. I appreciate. I really think to equip myself with this fuji. I have to sell before my Olympus OMD M5 MkII with the lenses. Honestly.
Just one question : the menu... are they easy ?
Menus are fine. Intuitive but some things are buried a couple screens deep. Nothing too bad though.
Beautiful photos
Thanks Albert!
@@karledwards what do you think of the new upgraded Fujifilm x100v? Ita weather sealed like you wanted !
Hello, kindly askin' u - which film simulation have u used / look/ fits better for pop-up pix? Thanks!
Kristijan Franjo Ivančić All shots in my Havana C100F review are Provia / Standard jpgs with contrast and brightness adjusted to taste. There was no Lightroom RAW support when the review was filmed...
@@karledwards many thanks! Your pics are Leica-like!

Loved your shots from this video... amazing work. Can't wait to get my X100F! Also...now I have to go to Havana! Great review as always!
Thanks Ben... Havana is an amazing place. Something amazing seemed to be happening anywhere I looked!
I can see that! But these shots are next level man...really something special.
Thanks man, you know me though... I only had to show up with a camera. All the interesting things were already happening! :D
You still make me lol. "Touuuch iiit..".
Great photos! Thanks for the review. 😊
Great video, even greater photos. Nice work!
Amazing Video. I wish I had one x100f now. I'd be shooting all day long for sure.
im worried about one thing: the fixed lens . just saying if something bad happens to the lens like scratches or you drop and the lens crack on the metal bends its pretty much over no? tell me your oppinion since you use it
Just because a fixed lens camera breaks doesn't mean it's beyond repair. I generally put a clear filter on the lens to protect the front element from scratches and call it a day. If the damage is so bad that the entire camera is a write off then you'd probably have done the same amount of damage to a camera with an interchangeable lens attached. 6 of one half a dozen of the other...
very nice photos thank you
True manual focus lens? You can't focus with the focus ring? Or simply missing the focal length distance measurements?
Carlos Alfronos C. A true manual focus lens has the focus ring directly coupled to the elements it moves. Modern af lenses are "fly by wire" and introduce a measure of lag as a result.
Really wonderful pics!!! Also a little Lightroom or straight outta Fuji?
Street Shootr ahhh gotcha, thanks man!
Yes! True manual focus (RF) so you actually can do real zone focusing - its a street camera right?
Hi. What kind of filter are you using infront of the lens, is it an uv or a flter without glass to act as a wery small lenshood ? thanks
dannycph I use the ar-x100 filter adaptor plus a plain filter instead of a lens cap. That way camera is always ready to go...
Thank you
Great video. What film simulation and What in camera settings for your jpeg?
Out of camera jpgs with no standard (Provia) simulation. Brightness and contrast was adjusted to taste.
Street Shootr Thanks a lot Keep posting. Per in Sweden
So now that you've shot the xpro2, xt2 (both with 23mm f2 lens) and the x100f what camera would you recommend?
Tyler Aldrich that's a tough one... all three are excellent but I ended up with the XT2 this time around. Love the form factor of the x100 but the fantastic evf on the XT2 really sealed the deal for me.
You can't go wrong with any of the three though...
Hey Street Shootr, Great video and I agree, Great photos with the X100F! The body itself reminds me of my old Mamiya 135 EE, the first camera I ever shot with, I was 12 y.o.! My question though: Which camera do you use to film yourself blogging (or Youtubing)?
Ok, scratch that, I just read in your intro you're film ing all on XT20... Sorry! Hahaha! Have a good one Mate! :-)
flyerbluedog haha!
Looking into this model and I've seen quite a few for sale that have them and some without, is that an aftermarket personalization thing?
notatoyota it's called a soft release and it doesn't come with the camera. Check or matchtechnicsl.com for some excellent ones that don't fall off...
Street Shootr Thanks! The link doesn't work though.

Greatest X100F review I came across :) Thank's
Glad you enjoyed, Michael!
I actually really don't mind the iso dial on the x pro. Certainly not as easy as the x t2 but you do get used to lifting and turning while looking through the viewfinder.
I had a Fujica st605n in the late 70s and that had a similar function.
Hi Steven,
Like I said, there's no shortage of people who "don't mind" the ISO dial.
I have the same type of ISO/ASA dial on my old Konica Autoreflex T3 film cameras so I loved what Fuji did.
What thumbgrip do you have mounted? Thanks in advance....
HI Gael, I answered that question in an earlier comment. It's a Lensmate X100T thumb grip - scroll down to read the full conversation...
What a lovely video great shots!
Thanks, photomorti!
Hi friend, is this thumb grip of F or T? big huge
Fernando Filipe that's the grip for the t. When this video was shot no f grips were ready yet. I think Lensmate has one in the works though:.:
your video amongst others convinced me to get this little cam :) pretty excited about it.
coming from an xt10 with the 35mm f2 lens, are you finding the x100f lens to be soft wide open/close up?
not a deal breaker for me, just curious about your thoughts on it and how you're liking the camera Thus far.
cheers :)
Hi Nathan,
All my thoughts on the camera are pretty much outlined in the video. I haven't picked up a copy for myself just yet so I don't have much more to say on it. As for the lens, all I can say is I'm a street guy. So shooting wide open at close distances really doesn't come up for me that often (if at all!)
I can say that this lens has been in use since hte original X100 was released.
K.
Haha that is does indeed. Thanks for the reply man, cheers!
Love your stuff. Question, would you get this as a second camera to complement the XT2 or add a second XT2?
I'm an X100 kind of shooter so...
LeicACK 😂 good stuff! You're a genuine dude. Subscribed. My x100f will be in my hands in 3 days. I can't wait
Awesome! Thank you!
Did you use any particular film simulation mode for these images?
Da Ying all shot as in camera jpgs using the provia (standard) simulation.
Street Shootr Thanks!
What filter/ring are you using? Thanks in advance!
No probs Shake, it's a Fuji filter adapter plus a Sigma clear filter.
Great review and even better images - subbed - keep it up!
Would you buy this or XT 2 if you had the choice and cost wasn't an issue?
Both are excellent. Comes down to form factor and what you prefer to have in your hand...
I have a 100s, is the upgrade to the F worth it or better go with the XT2? I know that its personal but still like to hear your opinion. Thanks. I promise no more questions.
Very nice photos
Thanks!
Thanks for this amazing video! Could you recommend some locations in Havanna for street? I'm flying next week! Greets from Frankfurt, Germany.
I didn't have much problem at noon - sort of trained myself to shoot on the shady side of the street when it's lunch time :)
We typically took a break for a couple hours around 12 and got lunch or went back to the apartment to rest up a bit. Then headed back out around 2 which gave us plenty of time to walk to our afternoon destinations in time for the afternoon light!
Nice compositions.
The AF has been worrying me too. What is your verdict now that you have it?
BlueZ the auto focus is spot on. If had no problems with it. My old X100s was a nightmare at auto focus and I kept hold of it for longer than I should only because the photos where so good and it looked smart Lol. Whereas the X100F is BANG on and the photos are JUST FANTASTIC. I added a few to one of me UA-cam videos, says sol palmeros video and photos "video was with a Gopro", but all the photos at the end where jpeg from the X100F
Good info, I enjoy the presentation.
Thanks Joe. Finally finished a big job that's kept me away for a couple months - plenty more videos on the way!
Great review, very informative and helpful and I love your delivery style, very enthusiastic and funny. Puts most of the others to shame. Where did you get that neck strap, it looks really cool?
Andy Gray that’s a Gordys neck strap. Strong, durable and cheap!
how does it compare with the Sigma DP2M? I mean, image quality-wise
jesuisravi no idea, I've never shot with it.
Simple, the dp2m IQ will blow the doors off the x100 as long as you shoot iso 400 or lower. Most you tuber photogs have never used one. If they had they would realise there is no substitute ;-)
@@chrisdechristophe yep, sigma dp merrills are monster cameras. I have all 3 merrills. 😁
Me too! And I have the Sd, but no decent lens to do it justice so I plan to sell that on.
You're totally crazy and I liked it. I sold all my canonish pro things for the F and I'm in love with it. It's not serious but it's cool.
for me, weather sealing would be nice. but there is no way i would ask for a 1.4 lens. It'll only make the lens bigger and no longer jacket pocketable. I'd just buy an xpro2 if that's the case.
where do you purchase the hot shoe thumb grip ??
bublebuble2004 that's listed in the description. It's a Lensmate and u can get them directly from the company or on amazon.
Upgrading from the original x100, all changes are welcome :)
Street Shootr wow omg that's exactly what it's for 🙌🏼
Sorry for late respons but thanks so mutch. Keep shoting
Just out of curiosity, what's your favourite Fuji film simulation or top 3 if giving one is too hard? Nice and honest video btw.
Pr0xyPunk I'm a big fan of the standard simulation (provia I think). If you're into black and white the acros with yellow filter looks pretty darn nice too.
Those happen to be my two favourite too. Especially love the Acros with yellow filter.
Love the 100f
Amazing great images thanks

Thanks! I'd also like to know whether the built in ND works during video recording?
No idea. I'm a street photographer - never even touched the video stuff on this camera...
Did you get the X100V?
Not yet, but it's definitely on my list. I've spent the summer shooting with my phone, actually! I've got a lot to say about shooting mobile - watch for that video in another month or so...
Good review and fantastic photographs. You've got that Alex Webb thing goin on.
I was thinking about getting one, but the shots always seem very cold and sterile to me... I think it's that "pop" giving me that vibe.
Great video! Which thumb grip are you using, I can't find one to fit the "F" yet.
Same question here, what are you using for a thumb grip? Thanks for posting, great review!
Agreed. The new X100F grip will be a flip out design like the X-Pro2. Should be amazing once it hits the market!
what kind of strap?
That's a Gordys strap. Dark brown leather with black winding.
Should you still buy X100F if there’s no any successor coming for this series
One thing I can tell you for sure is that there will ALWAYS be a successor coming for every camera. Get the best camera you can today and start shooting. The work matters more than the machine in the end! This being said, the X100F is a great little camera and Fuji usually updates on a 2 year cycle so you've still got time before the next one shows up.
Street Shootr ok but should I get Panasonic GX9 Or X100F as my first camera for street, everyday, travel and a bit video?
I can't answer that question for you. Really depends on your needs and which camera suits you personally. Both are great choices... But there are many reasons so many street guys shoot with the X100F...
Street Shootr ok thanks!
Street Shootr but have you tried to ask your local Fuji guys? At least that is what the Fuji guy told me, no more successor coming
lots of Alex Webb type of shots in your samples. nice.
Thanks Jo's. Much appreciated!
Sorry. How rude of me. Your videos are so real and I just love the open honesty and real reviews. Thx.
Can't go wrong either way... XPro1 is REALLY showing its age at this point though... Might want to stick to anything with X-Trans 3 sensor.
Sounds good. I think an XPro2 is the way to go. Thanks for the reply.
My pleasure John... Do me a favor and use my affiliate links if you decide to purchase one. Doesn't cost you anything and the little commission I receive helps me make videos like this one!
Will do. Thanks!
Actually, having the ISO dial within the shutter speed dial IS the best system you can have if you learned with largely manual cameras (when "A" mode was cutting edge)
All my old analogue cameras have it, and once you've gotten the hang of it, it's beyond brilliant, because you can change all your settings by touch and counting clicks.
Both are excellent cameras in spite of this one "feature". ;)
Did you ditch Leica for Fuji?
Between this X100F and the Sony A6500 with a 24 mm or 25 mm prime for a street photography camera. Cost aside. What do you think would be optimal
Fuji cameras are like Pokemon... gotta get 'me all!
thanks for the info and will do some more research. May be back with another question,
Great video! You remind me of Mark Williams who plays Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.
Thanks Nico! Plenty more on the way...

ntinosfablez1992 thanks! Was a great trip!
Wow! Nice shots. It is my dream camera which is impossible to get since i only make $1000 a year :p
Randomly on my feed 5 years later 😂
Anyone knows what strap is he using?
Haniff Hamdan it's listed in the description for the video. It's a gordy's dark brown leather with black wrap.
i have a g12 in the boot in my car all the time...this might replace it
excelent
a lot of alex webb and costa manos going on with the shots!
Thanks Haotian! I don't think I'm quite in their league but I've taken workshops with both of them in the past!
Great photos! A lot of them are comparable to Alex Webb. Nicely done, I gotta go there now!
The aperture ring is my biggest issue. Its cumbersome to use. I wish it was like their aperture rings on other fuji lenses.
Youssef Hamidi I agree that it's not quite as good as other Fuji Lenses but it's never really been a problem for me... Mine is usually set at f8 all the time anyway 🙂
It has the IQ 'look' that appeals to me in the Fuji tradition.
When Fuji gets rid of the Xtrans sensor I'll reinvest in Fuji.
Love the images. Bravo!
Thanks Shaka!
More pictures and less quaking would reveal this cameras capabilities.
Ya... this is a camera review on UA-cam so you can pretty much expect me to TALK about the camera.
Troll Of Justice not sure what you're talking about - I never said having two ways of changing ISO is dumb.
But it's also Fuji acknowledging that people don't actually like the top dial."
Not sure what point you're trying to make but it's just not supported by the video.
Haha! Well I'm doing my part to keep the camera industry in business... Use my affiliate links if you're going to upgrade! :D
Street Shootr I have to come up with the money first. :)
