You're the reason I fell in love with the Hurdy-Gurdy, do you have any model/brand recommendations for someone who wants to start practicing with this instrument? Thanks!

Hahaha well, I appreciate Andrey's own appreciation of his beautiful instrument, but Weichselbaumer gurdies are probably WELL outside of your price range as a beginner.
I would recommend you look into the MM Trigo and Aplo models or the Traunecker Simplex model. My ACTUAL recommendation for a beginner gurdy is Radoslaw Malisz's Catnip B, but unfortunately Radoslaw suffered a medical accident recently that has caused him to close shop for the next ~6 months or so, so you'll be waiting for a fair bit longer if you want something from him. If your budget is less than ~$1,000, then the only viable option is the Nerdy Gurdy, which you can buy either in kit form (to assemble yourself at a price of ~$400) or prebuilt (at a price of ~$800). Do NOT, under any circumstances, buy a gurdy less than $800 that isn't called "Nerdy Gurdy"; every single other option in that price range is a complete scam designed to bamboozle new players who don't know better.
gurdyworld [dot] com/hurdy-gurdy-resources/makers-list/ This is a non-exhaustive-but-pretty-comprehensive list of active luthiers if your budget is above ~$2,000 (replace [dot] with a period).
While a Weichselbaumer gurdy is certainly a top-of-the-line option for a professional musician with a large income or a lot of savings, the cheapest model was something around ~$13,000 last I recalled, and the more comprehensive ones with all the bells and whistles can go over $20,000. It really isn't an option for someone who is just starting out.

@@ooosteve Wolfgang Weichselbaumer has like a 5-year waitlist, and very few luthiers list prices publicly because the instruments are bespoke and prices will vary based on what you ask for. I assure you WW is doing perfectly fine with his business, given that he literally turns away customers because he can't make them fast enough.
