I'm not Catholic, but I love this so much. I think this is how people should be in church. Look how happy they are! That's how you truly celebrate god, by preaching to the entire world how much you love him!
True, but unfortunately, Catholics are kind of against this type of music in church, and they don't do this. Catholic church sessions are actually kind of archaic and boring.

When I heard this song for the first time, I left the room, sobbing my heart out. Because I realized that nothing could keep God from loving me. Not my addictions, not my sexuality, nothing. He would love me, when no one else would. And there was nothing i could do to stop that.

There's something very powerful about this movie. And I'm not a religious person, so I don't think it's about that. It's about community and trespassing barriers and about how modernity and tradition can indeed meet and create beautiful things. I think that's why it still resonates with so many people.

Sister Act and Sister Act II are SO ridiculously good! I remember watching both films with my siblings and friends, and we would sing to every song. Such simple, happy memories thanks to these films. They have a special place in my heart.
I'm a really, really lapsed Catholic (for a number of reasons), but I can still watch these movies over and over, haha. (It helps that they're not religious as such - religion is just in them.)

I decided to watch Sister Act with my niece (7 months) cause she already loves music and now this is our go-to quiet song. I put her in "baby sleeper hold" (it's completely safe lol) and start to sing. She immediately quiets and just listens. I think it is so cute! I love this movie. When I watched this as a kid, I felt proud because I went to Catholic elementary-middle school, my nuns were the best. They didn't sing or fly, but they liked applesauce and I remember them fondly even though it was twenty years ago.
I was raised Catholic (grew up to be an atheist, thankfully), but I spent every Sunday sitting in Church whining sloooow sad church songs about how terrible life was and what a terrible human being I was, because that's the kind of music Catholics sing for fun. The first time I saw a gospel choir on TV I was about 10, and it was... like a revelation. Church doesn't have to be terrible. Yeah, I get this movie. I get that people want to be joyful and happy about things that are close to their heart. Even though I'll never join the religion circus again.
