    I think you’re 100% correct. I’ve been doing the vertical jump to release my lag on every shot. (GRF golf) Exactly like you stated, when I get to P5 I use my vertical force and let my arms go.

    Swing's looking great! What do you personally feel to get the club back ln the functional plane from the top? Lowering of the arms to the back right pocket? Staying closed? Love to hear your thoughts now that it looks like you've figured it out

    • @BEBETTERGOLF
      @BEBETTERGOLF  Місяць тому

      @@andyk9257 u gotta feel like the functional swing plane is all there is. If it goes up above the plane it is only because your initial force of the ball was greater and then that force became so great that it takes more time to turn around. In the time it turns it around it ends up being a much fuller backswing. But the feeling is always a waist to waist swing. Harrington has been talking about this a lot in the last year

  • @HolyGrailOfGolf
    @HolyGrailOfGolf Місяць тому

    It's called lead leg breaking. It's the resistance provided by the front foot that creates and allows the release point in the proper place. Although, the force is better applied horizontally forward instead of vertically downward. We already have gravity working vertically so when we add horizontal force we end up with diagonal force that is equal and opposite to the swing plane.

      Probably doesn't matter. Of course the thicker the rough or the deeper in the grass the ball lies you better grip tighter or you lose control of the clubhead. I have a shot out of short side high 3-4" rough that is different but effective. Grip the club very tight and chop down on the ball with virtually no follow through. It takes practice but is a really simple method.

    Would you equate “letting go” of grip pressure to throwing or monte casting the handle? And if you want it max at p5 do you actually have to feel like you are doing it earlier than p5?

  • @aboslutezero

    The impulse and relaxation lines up with what Dr Stuart McGill found I am currently revisiting this and I believe elite athletes including golfers are not only able to produce this impulse of contraction better quicker more powerfully etc but also release it quicker than ordinary people by 5 or 6 times if I remember correctly

    Since most good golfers do the 'motercycle' move (adding flexion to lead hand wrist) early in the downswing, I wonder if this is related, as the lead wrist reaches maximum flexion at or near where grip pressure maxes. I'd love to see a grip pressure graph superimposed on a Hackmotion wrist angle graph.

      @BEBETTERGOLF  Місяць тому +1

      @@scottmartin229 I can do that

    • @mattdaniels6430
      @mattdaniels6430 Місяць тому

      Would definitely be interesting... My first thought though is that those two arent connected in a functional way, I think, the most plausible explanation for why the grip pressure is the highest at transition, is because when ground forces are used (applies to every pro), the most forces will work on the club (especially the club head), so to keep the level of control (what feels like control to the golfer) of the club face somewhat constant, the grip pressure has to go up. I wonder, if such a spike in grip pressure would be visible in swings with a very clear trigger motion or in long drive swings as well.

    • @scottmartin229
      @scottmartin229 Місяць тому

      @@mattdaniels6430 The grip pressure isn't highest at transition though. Pressure builds from transition to lead arm parallel where it maxes, then drops precipitously to impact. That mirrors what happens with lead wrist flexion. In most 'good' golfers, lead wrist flexion also builds from transition to lead arm parallel where it maxes, then extends into impact. It may be coincidental, but would be quite the coincidence.

    I can see in the data that the lead hand has more pressure but I don’t know that I come to the same conclusion that ‘lead hand pressure’ = ‘more important’. How I see it is the trail hand is the one throwing the club while the lead hand is hanging on. I could be wrong but that’s my first thoughts seeing the pressure graphs.
