- In this video I review Blink-182's new album "One More Time". I would say half the album is really good and the other half is just ''meh'', but even still, it's way better than what I expected.

Jerry Finn was the unsung hero of so many 90s power pop and punk bands. He died WAY too young and could have had a massive 40 year career. He worked on at least 25 albums I’d call classics. He deserves his own documentary!
Let’s see:
Obviously blink’s classic records
AFI Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground
Sum 41 All Killer no Filler
Mixed Green Day’s Dookie and Insomniac albums
Mixed and was an engineer for Goo Goo Dolls A Boy Named Goo
Produced albums from Rancid and Pennywise
He even mixed an album from Kara’s Flowers, which was what Maroon 5 before they changed their name and expanded to 5 members.
Oh and he did some stuff with Morrissey.
Pretty impressive resume he compiled in 16 years of music production, mixing, and engineering.
@@FlyingV555but you left out the best two! Destination Failure by the Smoking Popes and Headtrip in Every Key by Superdrag!!
@@GTV-JapanI only left them out since I’m not super familiar with those bands. I might check those out at some point.
@@FlyingV555 I highly recommend! Former kings of the Buzz Bin!
I had the exact opposite feeling. I thought the second half was WAY stronger than the first half. I feel like the more mediocre songs are there. Liked the album overall, but boy, Travis’ production nearly killed it for me with the compression, overblown drums, and autotune. God damn I wish Jerry Finn was still alive, his production was absolutely pristine and packed so much of a punch.
Couldn’t disagree more about the first and second half of the album opinion. Turpentine, Bad News, and Blink Wave are all contenders for best song on the whole album.
Absolutely love those songs especially Blink Wave
As soon as you mentioned Billy, AUU AUU AUU IT’S HOOLIGAN came into my mind and hasn’t left since. Thanks. I’m kind of on the same page as you, I like 4-5 songs from the album, which I couldn’t say since Neighborhoods (which I liked very much, I know lots hate it), so I’m kind of satisfied.
oh godddd i'm glad you commented but you had to remind me of that stupid hooligan song 😅
album of the year
only skip is fell in love and that’s a new achievement i never heard band do before because there’s fucking 17 songs!
probably more like 15 REAL songs.. at least 2 of them were more like throwaways but still fun to listen to
Terrified was originally a box car song if you didn't know but this is a solid album.
wow that makes alot of sense then..
When their lyrics say "I wish they would have told us", I immediately understood because blink has made a reference like this before. I take it to be an expression of what it's like being a child/teen/young 20s and being told by society and school how everything should be and you trust them to get you prepared. It turns out, no one knows how to prepare you for life. It's that fact that feeds to the innocent childlike emotion that the line represents. - to me.
that's true.. good interpretation
Everyones entitled to their opinion, and i respect that. But i disagree with 90% of the statements made in this review.
I 100% agree
15:06 hahaha. Facts. But on some level though you gotta credit Billy for trying to be innovative, even if it doesn’t hit 100% like so many of their older works do. I think there is another (no pun intended) zeitgeist moment in SP’s future. Wouldn’t that be great?
was never a huge fan, but enjoyed a lot of this record. josh’s view is honest, even for a diehard fan. i wish some of the band’s that i had been faithful to my whole life could put out as strong of a record as this one, 15 years past their prime!
love the video josh! wish we could patreon you albums to review…have some i would love to hear your honest take of…
Can’t believe nothing to say about Bad News. That song is the closest homage to their real old stuff for me. Could slap that after Dammit on their Dude Ranch album and would hardly seem out of place.
yeah i completely flubbed by not forgetting to include that song in the script.. i done fuh'd up
YES I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE! THANK YOU AND I AM SURE THAT I WILL ENJOY THIS. 💚🤘
Damn Blink Wave is one of my favorite tracks on the album lol
Childhood was supposed to feel somber and I personally loved the fade out like that
yeah reminds me of the way sugarcult ends start static
I got the CD copy will be interesting to see what the final sales will be the first half is killer. Could set some records
i bought the cd on record store day from my local indie store 😅🙌
yeah, i have all the other tom-era CD's i was thinking about buying this one one physical media as well
@@DancingwithGhostsit cost me 12.63 at target
10:50 You totally forgot the song "You don't know what you've got" 🙄 That's one of my favorites on the album!
damn it! you're right i did
Hey man, I don’t agree with you about the end or second half of the record. I do think you’ve got great insight, though.
thanks!
I agree, Childhood and Blink Wave were two of my favorites on the record. It seems like he listened to it once or twice then made the video
Spot on. Billy needs to follow Blink's lead
at this point .. he never will .. unless he has some deathbed revelation
2:43 So true
I disagree that the 2nd half is significantly worse though but it's overall 50/50 hit or miss
You watch the Interview they did lately. You learn it wasn't all Tom, yes he may have been the one to leave both times. But he also left because of the strain between them, lack of communication etc.
like i said.. it all depends on who you talk to on what day you're talking to them
i’m pretty sure they stopped using the autotune after coachella. if you watch everything after you can hear tom’s little vocal fucks ups now. they still got the back tracks tho which is understandable
i think maybe tom was using autotune at coachella against his will lol
Josh the Ole Ole Ole yeah is the coolest part. Give it another chance.
DJ AM died of an overdose in 2009, not in the crash
Fair review. I'm a basic bitch and basically loved the whole album spare a song or two. 😂 Really felt like the blink-182 from my (long ago) youth was back!
The use of auto tune is mainly due to Mark’s vocal chords being severely damaged after all of his chemotherapy treatments. He said was so weak and thrashed that he had to relearn his instrument and had to learn how to sing again and get his voice back. I feel like that’s why I like this record so much. I watched his Twitch streams during Covid and when he was going through his leukemia treatments and seeing how far he’s come is just inspiring. Tom also has said that he’s not a great singer but he’s an excellent song writer so I think the auto tune, while not perfect, gets the point across of what their ideas are. Travis has vocals on Fell in Love, One More Time, and Fuck Face
yeah i pretty much figured those were the reasons but man... they really dialed that auto-tune up to 11 on this record
@@DancingwithGhosts I agree it was definitely more noticeable, they’re gettin old 😂 I saw them live and it was definitely rough on Tom’s part but it still worked. I really liked Childhood, it’s kind of a call back to I’m Lost Without You from Untitled, slow song with a big build up to Travis’ drums. I enjoy Blink when they’re progressing, that’s why the Untitled record is my favorite of theirs. Because while I live Enema and TOYPaJ, they’re the strongest when they’re trying new thing, we may not like it at first but the more you listen the more it grows on, which is why a lot of fans like Neighborhoods now and will probably like this record further on. Personally this is 3rd or 4th best record of theirs for me
@@Immafuggin182 when it first came out it seemed like no one really gave af about neighborhoods.. I think the lead single "Up All Night" went over a lot of the fans heads. I remember playing Up All Night to my friend at the time and I said "hey check out the new blink 182 song" and he's like "THAT'S BLINK 182?? Sounds like some nu-metal band" lol
@@DancingwithGhosts I remember the night it debuted and I loved it, my gf at the time said the same thing about that guitar riff.
@@Immafuggin182 i thought the riff was pretty bad-ass and innovative for the band at the time, i also liked the synth editions, it's still my favorite album by them.
"I dont feeel paehaaehaehnnnn"
"I dont feel, shayuhuhuhmmm"
When i first heard that track i died
fell in love = my fav
Bad News = Banger
Bruh I just got the shirt. It's so badass looking. I'm wearing it now lol.
You've been a team player!
thanks..i think
this might be weird but when i hear "One More Time" I think of Daft Punk. IDK. Love music.
4:18 I almost shat myself 😅
despair the wreckage... the nonsensical lyrics really hurt this album in some spots.
I just can't really get into a lot of Mark's lyrics on this album. For some reason they make me cringe. Tom does all the heavy lifting on this album for sure lyrically and musically. I find the older I get the more I have begun to prefer AvA over Blink except for their self titled album.
i definitely liked how mark was used way less now that tom is back.. i feel like when skiba was in the band mark was used a lot more to remind fans that ''hey it's still blink 182'' but i feel like he only sings like 35/40% of the time on this album
“Back half loses steam” is kind of an L take considering that “Other Side” “Bad news” and “Turpentine” are on the back half. The only meh songs are the “interlude” and “childhood”.
Turpentine is overrated. Other side is way better
DJ AM didn’t die in the plane accident.
yeah you right, it was an overdose my b
7.5/10
Better than N9ne but not as good as California or Neighborhoods.
Enjoyable though.
Not as good as California? Please tell me you're kidding 😂
@useraccount1874 I genuine don't get the California hate. It was a solid fun pop punk album. It did its job nothing more. Just like this album.
Dj am....he didnt die in that plane crash...
yeah yeah i know that now.. i say things off the cuff sometimes and it usually results in misinformation
Agreed on autotune and overly processed/loud drums, but it's still the album of the year and a fantastic album once you accept that. Some of these songs are as good as anything they've done.
i agree
Plan crash definitely didn’t happen on the runway, you need to check your facts… it happened on a highway, and Travis is the sole survivor. Also Travis sings Fuck Face…
plans take off on highways now?
@@DancingwithGhosts yeah but they do crash on them in this case. The plan took off from an airport not a damn highway, and it in fact was in the air before it crashed.
I like turpentine though
you forgot you dont know what you got
i knowwwww i don't know how that happened :(
@@DancingwithGhosts so was that the start to the downfall with it?
@@crazygamermax6914 to me "blink wave" was when the album started getting more generic
While it was a heartfelt song lyrically, releasing the title track as the first radio single was a huge mistake. Boring ass song and the farthest thing I think of when I hear that blink released a new single from a new album. Blink is my favorite band of all time but yikes.
Why look so angry in thumbnail
i have a resting bitch face.. nothing i can do about it
And who are you that I should care about your opinion. Lol
i mean.. you watched the video?
I'm the first to comment. Sorry i l just ike all the small things.
2nd #fail
@@patrickreichert1442 pat did your shirt come in yet?
@@DancingwithGhosts Yes it did and I love love love it! And thanks for the free stickers too :)
Sorry, but your take on the first half being way better than the 2nd is fucked.
Comment about Travis’ plane crash was in poor taste. Doesn’t matter if it was on the tarmac or in the sky, dude was 3 legs in the grave. I think he/the band can and should write about the accident however they want to
No longer a fan of them, but damn I want a Tom Delonge string-thru Strat.
Cringe reaction
The best track on this record doesn’t even hold a candle to the worst track on the last two Skiba records, the highlight of your video “is it any good?” How am I gonna believe anything you say of course it’s gonna be great you’re wearing a blink shirt L O L Nice job ripping off of Tom‘s sleeve piece by the way lol
^^god what an idiot
Do you know how music works? Auto tune is used BY EVERY ARTIST. Such a dumb criticism.
literally no it's not, you are actually the dumb one
Dumb comment
I like your videos, i like how you don’t ever edit videos zooming in on yourself and trying to act like a coked out youtuber like say ImAlllexx. He’s ok but the over editing is atrocious. I have ADHD I bet but I don’t need to be pandered to. Great stuff mane 👍🏼👍🏼
huh? Josh isn’t pandering to someone he doesn’t with a condition he doesn’t know you have. I have ADHD do. who cares.
@@patrickreichert1442
I never said Josh was pandering to someone? What are you on about?? Most UA-camrs are panderers and I made a point to say Josh wasn’t like that. Chill, a lot of UA-camrs pander and I said Josh didn’t.
@@sherezadevergara9440 I misread your comment. It happens. I’m not perfect. Sorry my good chap
@@patrickreichert1442
Hey sorry, I didn’t mean to come off rude. I reread my comment reply to you and I seem like a jerk, sorry good chap,
@@sherezadevergara9440 All is forgiven. I jumped at you, then you reacted. The world needs more understanding and we both are modeling a better way so…thank you :)
