6 years on and this review is still very relevant...just love stuffs that are punching above their weight
It's also proven by measuring with pro-equipment, these are not far off the originals.

I really liked your review, i've seen too many shitty reviews recorded with a potato. Thank god i found this one. I'm probably going for these headphones, had good one pair of superlux headphones a while back.

I have HD330 (open version) with Beyerdynamic velor pads. Comfort is phenomenal. Sound was grate out of the box (well almost, after 15 h burn-in) but after I remove those black sponge discs (one between pads and driver, and one behind the driver) oh my god. The are incredible. Base is a bit recessed, but still present and very good, but highs are way way better. But every thing come at a cost I have to switch my FiiO E10k DAC/AMP from low to hi gain. BTW those headphone because they are 150 Ohm really benefit from amping even in stock configuration.
It is still recorded with some sort of potato though, and it came out pretty damned sibilant and annoying. There's a spike somewhere in the lower treble that really grates against my eardrums every time he says an "s" or a "z".

First off: really nice review, but i have a question. Are these good for listening to modern music Genres like edm or hip hop/rap or gaming? And if you have the HD 668b's wich ones do you prefer?

I think I get that you prefer doing short reviews for the sake of not loosing people's attention but a headphone review without a proper sound analysis is kinda pointless

not exactly, hd660 have 40mm drivers, hmd660 have 50mm drivers and other technical specs might differ, just check the producer page superlux.com.tw

@@amoniousbt1110 the membrane is a part of the headphone's driver, its basically just a thin clear sheet over some magnetic coils which makes the sound
if you damage the membrane, the sound will usually change for the worse with higher distortion
I can see how it can get damaged by letting headphones slap on your head like that
Only if it has a really shitty membrane, if a headphone can survive that then shouldn't be in the market in the first place.
P sure listening to loud electronic music or even better, playing lower notes on a synthesizer stretches the membrane way more.
On 58 seconds you see the bad quality the steal part between te left/right side is different, incl the headband. I think as he shakes his head 3 times and the Superlux falls to the ground.😛

I've had HD 681 for quite some time. After I got them, I immediately lost interest on fixing my Beyerdynamic DT990 I've had from the 90's. And yes, I'm a producer. I began wondering what's the difference with this model. Didn't find out yet.

@@machine6711 when you know how to EQ them flat enough, yes. I think I didn't progress with mixing the low end with them. Now using
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, found used for good price. Note: they require the "leather" cushion. Otherwise the sound leaks and bass is lost. If found used, in any case prepare to get new cushion.

Beyerdynamic DT-770 are made in Germany.
Only cheaper models like the DTX 350 aren’t made in Germany.

These are absolute dogshit. I sold mine within a week.
Guess it depends on your use case/expectations. I have the DT 770s but based on the review, I can see these as a cheap alternative for vocal tracking (for no bleed).
